Die Primzahl hat 1022195 Dezimalstellen und erreicht in Chris Caldwells Datenbank der größten bekannten Primzahlen Platz 203 insgesamt.

Die Entdeckung gelang Randall Scalise (Randall J. Scalise) aus den Vereinigten Staaten mit einem Intel Core i5-4570 @ 3,20 GHz mit 4 GB RAM unter Windows 7. Dieser Rechner brauchte etwa 1 Stunde 36 Minuten für den Primalitätstest mit LLR.

Die Primzahl wurde am 14. Mai 2017 um 10:32:20 MEZ von Sven Lünser (TheWickedSvene) aus Deutschland mit einem AMD Phenom II X6K 1100T mit 16 GB RAM unter Linux bestätigt. Dieser Rechner brauchte etwa 2 Stunden 43 Minuten für den Primalitätstest mit LLR. Sven ist Mitglied des Teams Rechenkraft.net.

Day 11

Are you nervous? Can’t you sleep? Are you constantly checking the Pentathlon-Stats? That explains it all. You have Pentathlonitis. There’s no cure and it’s highly contagious. If you don’t experience any symptoms there must be something wrong with you and you should see a doctor at once. There is only one antidote. Full speed ahead until the great Finale. Afterwards, the reward will come in the knowledge that you have achieved something really special. Enjoy the sensation of blissful exhaustion which will befall you. You’ll enjoy the quiet and relax for a few days. Will that help to get you cured? No! It won’t be long and you’ll be yearning for the next Pentathlon.

So, let’s find some treatment for you. A small dose can to be found at the Marathon. Here, we expect life to return after the Finale at the Sprint. P3D (#2) continue to put SUSA (#1) under pressure, at least they are giving it a go. Behind, Gridcoin (#3) are able to keep up with the pace and are even gaining ground. However, it’s not sufficient for an attack which would necessitate a pronounced increase. However, the Bronze rank is at least safe as OCN (#4) glance wistfully in its direction.

Team China don’t want to settle for #5 and are thus also putting SG (#6) under pressure. The Dragons could really do with the points at the Overall Standings and have begun their nose dive. Apart from that there aren’t any great changes to report in the following ranks. AF (#7), CNT (#8), RKN (#9) and OcUK (#10) have secured their positions. Behind them, [H]ard|OCP have pounced and thus overtaken Meisterkuehler (#12) and TAAT (#13) and claimed #11 for themselves. At the end of the field TitanesDC continue at their measured pace. With great strides, they hold on to rank after rank, #27 will not be their final stop.

The largest dose of the antidote will be dispensed at the Finale of the Sprint today. SUSA’s victory is not yet in the bag. Team China (#2) are attacking with all their might and coming ever closer. Will the greater motivation make the difference here in the end? P3D (#3) might not even have enough for Bronze at the finish because SG are making up ground and want to finally get rid of the curse of #4.

CNT have pushed onto #5, past Gridcoin (#6) and well ahead of RKN (#7) and OCN (#8). TAAT (#9) have currently opened up the throttle and managed to reduce the deficit to the teams in front. BOINC Confederation (#10) had to let TAAT (#9) pass but managed to relegate AF at (#11). And it could get much worse for the Francophones. OcUK (#12) have taken up the scent and plan for AF to lose some feathers. USA are holding on well at #13 but it shouldn’t come as a surprise when Meisterkuehler (#14) decide to launch an offense.

Even at the Sprint, [H]ard|OCP (#15) are suddenly faster paced. Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#16) are not able to keep up at the moment, however, not only have they overtaken Crunching@EVGA (#17) and BOINC.Italy (#18) but have managed to build in a little advantage. BOINCstats (#19) have now placed themselves ahead of BOINC@MIXI (#20) and are trying to sneak up on the Italians. Behind, margins are tight. Ranks are constantly changing, currently Das Kartell (#21) have got the best prospects, followed by Ukraine (#22), TitanesDC (#23), AMD Users (#24), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#25) and LITOMYSL (#26).

Those suffering from the illness can fill their glass with a good dose of the best vintage at Swimming. P3D are leading the field and continue to extend their lead on Gridcoin (#2) and SUSA (#3). It might appear that the medals have already been awarded but that can be deceptive. AF (#4) are already feeling SG (#5) breathing down their neck. Traditionally, these two teams will not give in so easily at Swimming and will continue to spur each other on.

OCN seem to have decided to be content with #6 but were able to profit from CNT (#7) and Team China (#8) where neither exerted much pressure. RKN’s main concern in the next few days is to defend #9. Especially OcUK (#10) have got Rechenkraft in their sight. Even though BOINC Confederation (#11) managed to relegate USA (#12), it is still unclear if they can continue at that pace. BOINC.Italy (#13) have come under a great deal of pressure, namely from [H]ard|OCP (#14), who have already managed to gain a few places. Meisterkuehler (#15) and TAAT (#16) could only marvel at their feat.

It could soon happen that the advancing Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#17) are stopped in their tracks but not necessarily so. The teams which are ahead of them have a pace similar to that of the Italians, on the other hand, there are still a few days to go. BOINCstats (#18), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#19), BOINC@MIXI (#20) and Ukraine (#21) are not currently in with a chance.

Let’s now take a quick look at the medical record of the Overall Standings. SUSA have already rolled out the barrel of Bourbon and P3D (#2) can now get the salad bar set up but no time for such luxury for those behind. SG at #3 are only 6 points ahead of Team China (#4). Gridcoin (#5) & OCN (#6) are facing a difficult task. Their current mediocre standings in the Sprint could cost them the chance of a medal.

CNT (#7), AF (#8), RKN (#9) and OcUK (#10) continue to complete the Top10. If TAAT (#11) could only overcome their weakness at Swimming, there could still be potential. [H]ard|OCP have settled at #12, followed by Meisterkuehler.de Team (#13). We then continue with USA (#14), BOINC Confederation (#15) and Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#16) who are creeping up. No matter how this will end, these three should be content with their achievement.

Who will win the Sprint?

Vous êtes nerveux? Vous n'arrivez pas à dormir? Vous devez constamment consulter les stats du Pentathlon? Alors il n'y a pas de doute: vous êtes atteint(e) de Pentathlonite, incurable et très contagieuse. Si vous n'en souffrez pas, consultez immédiatement un médecin: quelque chose ne va pas chez vous. Il n'y a qu'un antidote: A fond jusqu'à la grande finale. Vous serez alors récompensé(e) par le plaisir d'avoir réussi quelque chose d'extraordinaire. Vous savourerez l'agréable épuisement qui vous submergera. Pour quelques heures ou quelques jours, vous allez savourer le calme et la détente. Serez-vous guéri(e)? Non! Cela ne durera pas longtemps et vous le réclamerez, le prochain Pentathlon.

Donc, entamons le traitement. Une petite dose se trouve actuellement au Marathon. Il va sûrement falloir attendre la finale au Sprint avant qu'un peu de vie revienne ici. P3D (#2) continue à mettre la pression à SUSA (#1), au moins elle essaie. Derrière, Gridcoin (#3) arrive également à suivre le rythme et gagne même du terrain. Mais cela ne suffit pas encore pour attaquer l'argent, il faudrait qu'il y ait une nette progression. Mais au moins l'équipe assure ainsi le bronze, car OCN (#4) ne peut que la suivre d'un regard mélancolique.

Team China ne veut pas se contenter du rang 5 et met ainsi aussi la pression à SG (#6). Les dragons ont bien besoin des points pour le classement général et montent en chandelle. Pour le reste, pas de grands changements derrière. L'AF (#7), CNT (#8), RKN (#9) et OcUK (#10) consolident leurs places. Mais derrière, [H]ard|OCP a pris son élan, a doublé les Meisterkuehler (#12) et TAAT (#13) et s'est ainsi placée au rang 11. En fin de peloton, la mesure de toute chose reste TitanesDC. Avec des pas de géants elle gratte place après place, le rang 27 ne restera sûrement pas le terminus.

Aujourd'hui, la plus grande dose d'antidote est à la finale du Sprint. La victoire de SUSA est loin d'être acquise. Team China (#2) attaque à fond et s'approche de plus en plus. Serait-ce la plus grande motivation qui fera la différence au final? À la fin, cela pourrait même être trop juste pour le bronze pour P3D (#3)n car SG remonte et veut enfin se débarrasser de la malédiction du #4.

CNT s'est hissée au rang 5, passant à côté de Gridcoin (#6) et loin devant RKN (#7) et OCN (#8). TAAT (#9) aussi accélère en ce moment et arrive à réduire la distance qui la sépare des équipes qui courent devant elle. La BOINC Confederation (#10) a dû laisser passer TAAT (#9), mais à réussi à bannir l'AF au rang 11. Et ça peut encore être pire pour les francophones: OcUK (#12) a flairé la piste et semble vouloir voler dans les plumes de l'AF. USA continue à se maintenir au rang 13, mais il ne serait pas surprenant si les Meisterkuehler (#14) passaient encore à l'attaque.

Au Sprint également, [H]ard|OCP (#15) a soudain accéléré. Pour l'heure, le Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#16) ne peut pas tout à fait suivre ce rythme, et pourtant il a non seulement réussi à doubler Crunching@EVGA (#17) et BOINC.Italy (#18), il arrive aussi à se construire une belle petite avance. BOINCstats (#19) s'est désormais placée devant BOINC@MIXI (#20) et tente de s'approcher en catimini des Italiens. Derrière, les écarts sont très réduits. On observe constamment des changements de position. Pour l'heure, Das Kartell (#21) a la meilleure position, suivie par l'Ukraine (#22), TitanesDC (#23), AMD Users (#24), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#25) et LITOMYSL (#26).

À la Natation aussi, les malades peuvent récupérer une fine dose du meilleur millésime. P3D mène le peloton et continue à augmenter son avance sur Gridcoin (#2) et SUSA (#3). On dirait que les médailles sont déjà attribuées, mais les apparences peuvent être trompeuses. L'AF (#4) sent déjà le souffle de SG (#5) dans son cou. Les deux équipes traditionnelles ne vont pas abandonner la Natation à la légère et vont s'aiguillonner l'une l'autre.

Pour OCN, le rang 6 semble être le maximum, mais l'équipe pourrait profiter de CNT (#7) et Team China (#8) qui la mettent un peu sous pression. Pour RKN, la défense de la 9e place sera la principale tâche des prochains jours. Surtout OcUK (#10) a Rechenkraft dans le viseur. Certes, la BOINC Confederation (#11) a réussi à repousser USA (#12), mais il reste à voir si elle arrive à garder le rythme. BOINC.Italy (#13) est sérieusement sous pression de la part de [H]ard|OCP (#14), qui a déjà réussi à gagner plusieurs places. Les Meisterkuehler (#15) et TAAT (#16) en sont restées bouche bée.

La poussée en avant du Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#17) pourrait désormais s'arrêter lentement, mais ce n'est pas obligé. Les équipes qui les précèdent avancent à peine moins vite que les Italiens, d'un autre côté, il reste encore quelques jours. BOINCstats (#18), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#19), BOINC@MIXI (#20) et l'Ukraine (#21) n'ont aucune chance pour l'instant.

Jetons maintenant un bref coup d'œil sur le dossier des malades, le classement général. SUSA a déjà sorti le Bourbon et P3D (#2) peut aussi commencer à préparer son buffet de salades, mais derrière il n'y a pas de place pour un tel luxe. SG, au rang 3, n'est qu'à 6 points devant Team China (#4). Par contre, ce sera sacrément difficile pour Gridcoin (#5) & OCN (#6). Le fait qu'elles s'en sortent moyennement au Sprint jusqu'à présent pourrait les priver des chances de médaille.

CNT (#7), l'AF (#8), RKN (#9) et OcUK (#10) ferment toujours le Top10. Si TAAT (#11) pouvait se défaire de sa faiblesse en Natation, elle aurait encore du potentiel. [H]ard|OCP s'est installée au rang 12, suivie par l'équipe Meisterkuehler.de (#13). Suivent USA (#14), BOINC Confederation (#15) et le Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#16), qui arrive à pas feutrés. Quel que soit le résultat final, ces trois équipes peuvent dans tous les cas être satisfaites.

Qui gagnera le Sprint?

Sind Sie nervös? Können Sie nicht schlafen? Müssen Sie ständig auf die Pentathlon-Stats schauen? Dann ist es eindeutig. Sie haben Pentathlonitis. Unheilbar und hoch ansteckend. Falls Sie nicht befallen sind, suchen Sie dringend einen Arzt auf, dann stimmt etwas mit Ihnen nicht. Es gibt nur ein Gegenmittel. Vollgas bis zum großen Finale. Danach werden Sie belohnt mit der Freude, etwas besonderes geschafft zu haben. Sie genießen die wohlige Erschöpfung, welche sich dann einstellt. Für ein paar Stunden oder Tage werden Sie die Ruhe und Entspannung genießen. Sind Sie dann geheilt? Nein! Es dauert nicht sehr lange und Sie wollen ihn, den nächsten Pentathlon.

Also ran an die Behandlung. Eine kleine Dosis gibt es derzeit beim Marathon. Hier wird sicher erst nach dem Finale beim Sprint wieder mehr Leben einziehen. P3D (#2) setzt weiter SUSA (#1) unter Druck, zumindest versucht man es. Dahinter kann auch Gridcoin (#3) das Tempo mitgehen und macht sogar Boden gut. Für einen Angriff auf Silber reicht das aber noch nicht, da wäre eine deutlichere Steigerung nötig. Aber zumindest wird so der Bronzerang abgesichert, denn OCN (#4) kann da nur wehmütig hinterherblicken.

Team China will sich nicht mit #5 begnügen und setzt damit auch SG (#6) unter Druck. Die Drachen können die Punkte dringend für die Gesamtwertung brauchen und gehen in den Steilflug über. Ansonsten auch weiterhin keine großen Veränderungen dahinter. AF (#7), CNT (#8), RKN (#9) und OcUK (#10) sichern ihre Plätze ab. Dahinter hat aber [H]ard|OCP zum Sprung angesetzt und Meisterkuehler (#12) und TAAT (#13) überholt und sich so selbst auf #11 gesetzt. Am Ende des Feldes bleibt TitanesDC das Maß der Dinge. Mit großen Schritten holt man Platz um Platz, #27 wird dabei nicht die Endstation bleiben.

Die größte Dosis Gegenmittel gibt es heute beim Finale des Sprint. Der Sieg von SUSA ist hier noch lange nicht in Sack und Tüten. Team China (#2) attackiert voll und kommt immer näher. Wird am Ende hier die größere Motivation den Unterschied machen? Für P3D (#3) könnte es am Ende nicht einmal für Bronze reichen, den SG holt auf und will den Fluch von #4 endlich loswerden.

Auf #5 geschoben hat sich CNT, vorbei an Gridcoin (#6) und weit vor RKN (#7) und OCN (#8). Gas gibt derzeit auch TAAT (#9) und schafft es den Rückstand auf die vor ihnen laufenden Teams zu verringern. Die BOINC Confederation (#10) musste TAAT (#9) passieren lassen, konnte aber AF auf (#11) verbannen. Und es kann für die Frankophonen noch dicker kommen. OcUK (#12) hat Witterung aufgenommen will wohl mit AF ein Hähnchen rupfen. Auf #13 hält sich USA weiterhin gut, aber dass die Meisterkuehler (#14) noch zum Angriff übergehen, wäre keine Überraschung.

Auch beim Sprint ist [H]ard|OCP (#15) plötzlich schneller unterwegs. Die Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#16) kann diesem Tempo derzeit nicht ganz folgen, dennoch ist es nicht nur gelungen, an Crunching@EVGA (#17) und BOINC.Italy (#18) vorbeizugehen, es gelingt ihnen auch, einen hübschen Vorsprung aufzubauen. BOINCstats (#19) hat sich nun vor BOINC@MIXI (#20) platziert und versucht, sich an die Italiener ranzuschleichen. Dahinter geht es sehr knapp zu. Ständige Positionswechsel sind hier zu beobachten, aktuell hat Das Kartell (#21) die beste Ausgangssituation, gefolgt von Ukraine (#22), TitanesDC (#23), AMD Users (#24), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#25) und LITOMYSL (#26).

Auch beim Schwimmen können sich Betroffene eine feine Dosis des besten Jahrganges abholen. P3D führt das Feld an und baut seinen Vorsprung auf Gridcoin (#2) und SUSA (#3) weiter aus. Es scheint, dass die Medaillen schon vergeben sind, doch merke, der Schein kann trügen. AF (#4) spürt im Nacken bereits SG (#5), beide Traditionsteams werden das Schwimmen nicht leichtfertig aufgeben und sich gegenseitig anstacheln.

Für OCN scheint #6 das maximale der Gefühle zu sein, könnte aber von CNT (#7) und Team China (#8) profitieren, die beide wenig Druck ausüben. Für RKN ist die Verteidigung von #9 Hauptaufgabe für die nächsten Tage. Besonders OcUK (#10) hat es auf die Rechenkraftler abgesehen. Zwar gelang es der BOINC Confederation (#11) die USA (#12) zu verdrängen, offen bleibt aber, ob sie das Tempo halten können. Massiv unter Druck steht BOINC.Italy (#13) und zwar von [H]ard|OCP (#14), die bereits mehrere Plätze rausholen konnten. Da konnten die Meisterkuehler (#15) und TAAT (#16) nur staunen.

Der Vorwärtsdrang der Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#17) könnte nun langsam zu Stillstand kommen, muss aber nicht. Die vor ihnen liegenden Teams sind nur wenig schlechter unterwegs als die Italiener, andererseits bleiben auch noch ein paar Tage. BOINCstats (#18), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#19), BOINC@MIXI (#20) und Ukraine (#21) haben da vorerst keine Chance.

Und nun noch schnell der Blick auf die Krankenakte, der Gesamtwertung. SUSA hat bereits den Bourbon rausgerollt und auch P3D (#2) kann das Salatbüfett bereits vorbereiten, doch dahinter ist für solchen Luxus keine Zeit. SG liegt nur 6 Punkte vor Team China (#4) auf #3. Für Gridcoin (#5) & OCN (#6) wird es dagegen verdammt schwer. Das bisher mäßige Abschneiden beim Sprint könnte ihnen die Medaillenchancen rauben.

CNT (#7), AF (#8), RKN (#9) und OcUK (#10) machen weiterhin die Top10 dicht. Wenn TAAT (#11) seine Schwimmschäche ablegen könnte, hätten sie auch noch Potential. Auf #12 hat [H]ard|OCP Platz genommen, gefolgt vom Meisterkuehler.de Team (#13). Es folgen USA (#14), BOINC Confederation (#15) und die sich heranschleichenden Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#16). Egal wie es am Ende steht, zufrieden können diese drei auf jeden Fall sein.

Day 10

Who would have guessed? Overclock.net have really pulled it off and won the Cross-Country at the 8th BOINC Pentathlon and are therefore only the 8th team who even managed to win a discipline. With their powerful performance they relegated SETI.Germany to the Silver rank and thus secured Gold for themselves. In the end, the Germans were unable to mobilise enough forces to change the outcome. Bronze was secured by SETI.US who are only doing what needs to be done to maintain their overall standing. Congratulations to all the medal winners!

On account of their phenomenal end spurt yesterday, Czech National Team managed to reach #4 and didn’t let anybody else take it from them. In the end, there wasn’t enough in it for a medal. Planet 3DNow! (#5) did not constitute a real threat and have for the first time since 2013 gone without an individual medal at the Pentathlon. That Team China (#6) don’t tend to enjoy the great outdoors isn’t that much of a surprise anymore. This was already their weak point last year.

On the other hand, Gridcoin continue their series for #7. Once again, Rechenkraft.net are crossing the finish line at #8, followed by TeAm AnandTech (#9). However, only Rank 10 in the final reckoning for L'Alliance Francophone. GPU was a strength of theirs in the past and this year a weakness?

OcUK - Overclockers UK secured #11 ahead of Meisterkuehler.de Team (#12). Meisterkuehler managed to make the terrain work for them and thus shake off [H]ard|OCP (#13), Crunching@EVGA (#14) and USA (#15). In the end, BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#17) didn’t succeed to push LITOMYSL off #16. Nevertheless, the Australians can be content with their achievement in this discipline. Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#18) were out of puff on the home straight and thus ensured continued excitement at the race. With a last heave, the bundle of ill-treated graphic cards was dragged across the finish line ahead of BOINC.Italy (#19).

Whilst BOINCstats (#20) and BOINC@MIXI (#21) calmly cruised to the end, AMD Users had to give it everything to bring home #22. Very close behind, in a heart-stopping finish, Ukraine (#23) and SETIKAH@KOREA (#24) had to concede. Next, Das Kartell did enough for #25.

With a mighty leap, TitanesDC invoked their strong past. That short burst was nevertheless enough for #26 and after that little scare, left UK BOINC Team behind at #27. Whilst BOINC Confederation calmly came in at #28, Seti@Netherlands came to terms with #29. boinc.sk did enough for #30, clearly ahead of Racoon Lovers (#31) and Boinc@Pfalz (#32). By the way, the photo finish decided the outcome here. Seti.Bitola claimed #33, whereas BEIJING 2022 (#34) didn’t get their shoes dirty.

The next decision is nearing at the Sprint. We have reached the half-way mark here. It’s important now to keep the power turned up. Every slump will be mercilessly exploited. SUSA have placed themselves at the top and given Team China (#2) who were dreaming of victory, a rude awakening. Behind, P3D (#3) are quickly losing ground but have left their pursuers well behind.

Though SG (#4) are next in line, Gridcoin (#5) and CNT (#6) are continuing to apply pressure to the Germans. Whilst RKN would be able to claim important points with #7, #8 will cause furrowed brows at OCN. Even though AF (#9) and ever cheerful BOINC Confederation (#10) who are in pursuit don’t pose a threat, a little bit more would have been expected.

Behind them, TAAT and OcUK can’t decide who should sprint to #11 or #12. I’ll put Hubble on standby again. I will probably need to use it too for USA (#13) and Meisterkuehler (#14). Crunching@EVGA (#15) are currently busy glancing anxiously at [H]ard|OCP (#16). OCP are powering closer.

BOINC.Italy (#17) are in two minds at the moment. To attack or once again getting involved in an inter-Italian duel with Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#18)? Would that question even be relevant to BOINC@MIXI (#19)? There’s been a significant drop in the last few hours; were they too fast at the start?

BOINCstats (#20) could use that to their advantage but at the moment it looks as if we need to wait and see. Are they suspecting a trap or are they out of puff? At the very least, Ukraine (#21) are putting the Chief Statisticians under pressure and will soon provide an answer to the question. There’s still a possibility for BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#22) and Das Kartell (#23) to leap forwards. Will they manage it?

At Swimming, SUSA only at #3, are currently weakening. Is that a tactical manoeuvre or are they only doing the bare minimum? P3D were able to position themselves at the top and extend their lead. Surprisingly, Gridcoin (#2) are going for power. It remains to be seen how that is going to pan out.

With their best individual achievement so far, AF claimed #4, followed by SG (#5). For the Germans, it’s all about Bronze in the Overall Standings which won’t allow them time to rest in the next few hours. Already considerably further back and fighting are the groups OCN (#6), Team China (#7) and CNT (#8). RKN (#9) and OcUK (#10) prefer to keep their nose out of it and focus on each other.

USA continue to valiantly hold on to #11 and show no difficulty in deflecting the occasional attack attempts of BOINC Confederation (#12). Neither BOINC.Italy (#13) nor Meisterkuehler (#14) currently give us the impression that they want to join in despite being within attacking distance. For now, TAAT have sprinted to #15 and are busy stopping BOINCstats (#16) from retaliating.

[H]ard|OCP are forcing the tempo and are currently at #17 but it looks as if there’s more to come. Behind, there’s also full steam ahead for Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#22) and TitanesDC (#23). Let’s hope that they won’t run out of coal.

As there are currently not a lot of changes at the Marathon we will only take a brief look at the course. SUSA ahead of P3D and Gridcoin confirming there’s been no change. There have also been no changes behind with exception of the two duels fought over #9 and #11. RKN and OcUK (over #9) and TAAT and Meisterkuehler (over #11) find themselves engaged in heart-stopping duels. It keeps the spectators well entertained.
And it’s great to see at the end of the field that BOINC@Pfalz (#28) and TitanesDC (#29) haven’t given up and even managed to gain a few places.

Though SUSA have lost a little ground in the Overall Standings their advantage is still large enough to secure Gold. The challenge for P3D is to not lose Silver. The situation in the fight for Bronze is coming to a head. Currently, SG have returned to this rank which is their regular spot. Team China have lost their lead at the Sprint and have thus dropped to #4.

The fact that Gridcoin (#5) are still in with a chance is due to their performance at Swimming. If they want to achieve more they will have to up the ante at the Sprint. The same goes for OCN. The drop to #6 shows the cost of their investment in the Cross-Country. Will victory in the Cross-Country cost them the Bronze in the end? Oh well, that’s how crazy the Pentathlon can be.

For CNT, more than #7 will already be a real challenge. Also, AF (#8) behind them have only got limited potential. This duo won’t have to expect much of a threat from further back. RKN (#9), OcUK (#10) and TAAT (#11) are performing well but it won’t be enough to achieve more. This will give the three a chance to focus on each other.

Meisterkuehler complete the dozen, followed by the teams on equal points of [H]ard|OCP (#13) & USA (#14). BOINC Confederation (#15) continue well on course but need to ensure that they don’t become careless. BOINC.Italy (#16) can close up faster than you think because they’ve still got large reserves at the Sprint.

Most noticeably, Gruppo Italiano Boinc have sustained a loss at Swimming and currently find themselves behind their compatriots at #17. If they can turn this around, more could be achieved. Behind them follow BOINCstats (#18), Crunching@EVGA (#19), BOINC@MIXI (#20), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#21) Ukraine (#22) and AMD Users (#23). All these teams lie around the 22 point mark. There are still lots of opportunities to win a lot but also to lose a lot.

The end phase of the Sprint is approaching which will determine the course for the days ahead.

Will Team China fight back at the Sprint?
Can SG gain on AF at Swimming?
Will Gridcoin succeed in collecting two individual medals?

As you can see, it remains exciting at the BOINC-Pentathlon.

Jour 10

Qui l'eut cru? Overclock.net a vraiment réussi et gagne le Cross-country du 8e BOINC Pentathlon. Elle est ainsi la 8e équipe à gagner une discipline individuelle. Grâce à un tour de force, elle a réussi à repousser SETI.Germany au deuxième rang et s'assurer l'or. Au final, les Allemands n'ont pas réussi à mobiliser assez pour renverser la vapeur. La médaille de bronze va à SETI.USA, qui fait ainsi le strict nécessaire pour le classement général. Toutes nos félicitations aux médaillés!

Grâce à un sprint phénoménal, la Czech National Team a réussi hier à atteindre la 4e place et à ne plus la lâcher. Mais au final, cela n'aura pas suffi pour une médaille. Planet 3DNow! (#5) n'était pas vraiment une menace et c'est la première fois depuis 2013 que cette équipe reste sans médaille individuelle sur le Pentathlon. Ce n'était pas vraiment une surprise que Team China (#6) n'aimerait pas trop le tout-terrain. Déjà l'an dernier, cette discipline était sa plus grande faiblesse.

En revanche, Gridcoin poursuit sa série de rangs 7. Rechenkraft.net passe une fois de plus la ligne d'arrivée en 8e, suivie par TeAm AnandTech (#9). Ce ne sera que le rang 10 sur le compte définitif de L'Alliance Francophone. Par le passé, le GPU était encore une force, cette année le point faible?

OcUK - Overclockers UK assurent le rang 11 devant l'équipe Meisterkuehler.de (#12). Les Meisterkuehler ont encore réussi à profiter du terrain et à semer [H]ard|OCP (#13), Crunching@EVGA (#14) et USA (#15). Au final, BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#17) n'a pas réussi à évincer LITOMYSL du rang 16. Et pourtant, les Australiens peuvent regarder cette discipline avec satisfaction. Le Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#18) s'est essoufflé dans la dernière ligne droite, mais il a encore une fois rendu cette fin de course palpitante. Avec ses dernières forces, il a finalement réussi à passer ses cartes graphiques maltraitées sur la ligne d'arrivée devant BOINC.Italy (#19).

Tandis que BOINCstats (#20) et BOINC@MIXI (#21) ont terminé calmement, les AMD Users ont dû tout donner pour ramener le rang 22 à la maison. À quelques pas derrière, l'Ukraine (#23) et SETIKAH@KOREA (#24) ont dû s'avouer vaincues dans un finish prenant. Derrière, Das Kartell a fait ce qu'il fallait pour remporter la 25e place.

Avec un bond de géant, TitanesDC évoqua son passé puissant. Ce bref éclair lui a au moins rapporté le rang 26 et a laissé une UK BOINC Team un peu effarée au rang 27. Tandis que BOINC Confederation a passé tranquillement la ligne d'arrivé à la 28e place, Seti@Netherlands a pu se satisfaire du rang 29. boinc.sk a réussi à se hisser au rang 30, nettement devant les Raccoon Lovers (#31) et BOINC@Pfalz (#32). Une nouvelle décision à la photo-finish. Seti.Bitola a décroché la 33e place, tandis que BEIJING 2022 (#34) n'a pas sali ses chaussures.

La prochaine décision approche au Sprint. Nous sommes à la mi-temps. Il s'agit maintenant de garder durablement un rythme élevé. Les concurrents profiteront du moindre coup de mou. SUSA s'est placée en tête et a méchamment réveillé Team China (#2) qui rêvait déjà de victoire. Derrière, P3D (#3) continue à perdre du terrain, mais arrive quand même à se détacher nettement de ses poursuivants.

Ces derniers sont actuellement menés par SG (#4), mais Gridcoin (#5) et CNT (#6) maintiennent les Allemands sous pression. Tandis que RKN pourrait gagner d'importants points au rang 7, la 8e place devrait faire plisser les fronts chez OCN. Certes, aucun danger ne semble venir de leurs poursuivants, AF (#9) et BOINC Confederation (#10) de bonne humeur, mais ils devraient en faire plus quand même.

Derrière, TAAT et OcUK n'arrivent pas à se mettre d'accord sur l'équipe qui sprinte au rang 11 ou 12. Je commence à préparer Hubble. Je pense que j'en aurai également besoin pour USA (#13) et les Meisterkuehler (#14). Crunching@EVGA (#15) est actuellement occupée à regarder [H]ard|OCP (#16) d'un air angoissé: OCP se rapproche fortement.

Actuellement, BOINC.Italy (#17) est tiraillée: attaquer ou repartir dans un duel intra-italien avec le Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#18)? Cette question intéressera-t-elle BOINC@MIXI (#19)? Au cours des dernières heures, elle a bien dégringolé. Aurait-elle été trop rapide au départ?

BOINCstats (#20) pourrait profiter de cette occasion, mais pour l'heure on dirait plutôt qu'elle attend. Flaire-t-elle un piège ou ne peut-elle pas donner plus? En tout cas, l'Ukraine (#21) met les statisticiens en chef sous pression et répondra rapidement à cette question. BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#22) et Das Kartell (#23) peuvent également faire un bond en avant. Vont-elles y arriver?

À la Natation, SUSA faiblit soudain et n'est plus qu'au rang 3. Est-ce une manœuvre tactique ou ne fait-elle plus que le strict nécessaire? P3D a au moins réussi à se positionner en tête et consolide son avance. De façon inattendue, Gridcoin (#2) cherche aussi à se saisir du pouvoir. Reste à voir comment ça va finir.

Avec sa meilleure performance individuelle jusqu'à présent, l'AF s'est placée en 4e position, suivie par SG (#5). Il s'agit de la médaille de bronze au général pour les Allemands, il ne faut donc pas s'attendre à des heures calmes non plus ici. Le groupement tactique composé d'OCN (#6), Team China (#7) et CNT (#8) est déjà un peu en retrait. RKN (#9) et OcUK (#10) préfèrent s'abstenir et se concentrent l'une sur l'autre.

USA garde vaillamment le rang 11 et peut parer sans problèmes les tentatives d'attaque sporadiques de la BOINC Confederation (#12). Ni BOINC.Italy (#13) ni les Meisterkuehler (#14) ne donnent l'impression de vouloir intervenir, alors qu'elles sont à portée de tir. TAAT a déjà progressé au rang 15 et est en train d'empêcher BOINCstats (#16) de riposter.

[H]ard|OCP a forcé le rythme et vient de se placer au rang 17 pour l'instant, elle peut certainement mieux faire. Derrière, le Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#22) et TitanesDC (#23) poussent aussi les machines. Espérons qu'elles ne manqueront pas de carburant.

Comme il ne se passe pas grand-chose au Marathon actuellement, je ne jetterai qu'un regard rapide sur cette piste. SUSA devant P3D et Gridcoin, pas de changement donc. Pas de changement non plus derrière, à l'exception des deux duels pour les rangs 9 et 11. RKN et OcUK (pour la 9e place), ainsi que TAAT et les Meisterkuehler (pour la 11e place) sont engagées dans des duels prenants. Cela fait vraiment plaisir à voir.
Et, en fin de peloton, on a le plaisir de constater que BOINC@Pfalz (#28) et TitanesDC (#29) n'abandonnent pas et gagnent même des places.

Au classement général, SUSA a certes perdu un peu de son avance, mais elle est encore assez grande pour assurer la médaille d'or. Ce sera également un réel défi pour P3D pour perdre la médaille d'argent. En revanche, la situation s'intensifie dramatiquement dans la bataille pour la médaille de bronze. Pour l'heure, SG est revenue sur cette place, sa place habituelle. Team China a perdu son leadership au Sprint et est donc descendue à la 4e place.

Le fait que Gridcoin (#5) soit encore de la partie est dû à leur bonne performance en Natation. Si elle veut aller plus loin, elle devra accélérer au Sprint. Cela s'applique également à OCN. Retombée au rang 6, l'utilisation des forces au Cross-country se fait sentir. La victoire au Cross-country finira-t-elle par lui coûter le bronze? Eh oui, le Pentathlon peut être aussi fou.

Pour CNT, faire mieux que le rang 7 sera un réel défi. L'AF (#8), derrière, n'a plus qu'un potentiel limité également. Peu de risques pour ce duo venant de l'arrière. RKN (#9), OcUK (#10) et TAAT (#11) montrent une très bonne performance, mais cela ne suffira pas pour aller plus loin. Ainsi, ces trois équipes pourront mieux se concentrer les unes sur les autres.

Les Meisterkuehler complètent la douzaine, suivis par les ex æquo [H]ard|OCP (#13) & USA (#14). La BOINC Confederation (#15) continue à bien avancer, mais ne devra pas devenir imprudente. BOINC.Italy (#16) peut être plus rapide qu'on ne le pense, car elle a encore de grandes réserves au Sprint.

Gruppo Italiano Boinc perd beaucoup de points, surtout en Natation, c'est pourquoi il n'est qu'au rang 17, derrière ses compatriotes. S'il pouvait changer cela, il pourrait aller plus loin. Derrière suivent BOINCstats (#18), Crunching@EVGA (#19), BOINC@MIXI (#20), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#21) Ukraine (#22) et AMD Users (#23). Ces équipes se tiennent en 22 points. Elles peuvent encore beaucoup gagner, mais aussi beaucoup perdre.

La phase finale du Sprint nous attend et avec elle d'importants aiguillages pour les derniers jours.

Team China ripostera-t-elle au Sprint?
SG peut-elle rattraper l'AF en Natation?
Gridcoin arrivera-t-elle à décrocher deux médailles individuelles?

Wer hätte das gedacht? Overclock.net hat es wirklich geschaft und gewinnt Querfeldein beim 8. BOINC Pentathlon und ist damit erst das 8. Team, dem es überhaupt gelang, eine Disziplin zu gewinnen. Mit einer Kraft-Leistung konnten sie SETI.Germany auf den Silberrang verdrängen und sich selbst Gold sichern. Am Ende konnten die Deutschen nicht mehr genug mobilisieren, um das Blatt zu wenden. Bronze sichert sich SETI.USA, die damit das nötigste für die Gesamtwertung tun. Herzlichen Glückwunsch an die Medaillengewinner!

Durch ein phänomenalen Spurt gelang es dem Czech National Team gestern, #4 zu erreichen, und es ließ sich das nicht mehr nehmen. Für eine Medaille hat es aber em Ende nicht gereicht. Eine echte Gefahr stellte Planet 3DNow! (#5) nicht dar und bleibt das erste Mal seit 2013 beim Pentathlon ohne Einzelmedaille. Dass Team China das Gelände (#6) nicht so richtig schmecken würde, ist keine wirklich Überraschung gewesen. Schon im letzten Jahr war diese Disziplin der größte Schwachpunkt.

Dagegen setzt Gridcoin seine Serie für #7 fort. Auf #8 geht wieder Rechenkraft.net durch das Ziel, gefolgt von TeAm AnandTech (#9). Nur Rang 10 steht dagegen in der Endabrechnung bei L'Alliance Francophone. In der Vergangenheit war GPU noch eine Stärke, in diesem Jahr die Schwäche?

OcUK - Overclockers UK sichern sich #11, vor dem Meisterkuehler.de Team (#12). Den Meisterkuehlern gelang es noch, das Gelände für sich zu nutzen und [H]ard|OCP (#13), Crunching@EVGA (#14) und USA (#15) abzuhängen. BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#17) schaffte es am Ende nicht mehr, LITOMYSL von #16 zu verdrängen. Dennoch können die Australier zufrieden auf diese Disziplin zurückschauen. Der Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#18) ging auf der Zielgeraden die Luft aus und sie machten es nochmal so richtig spannend. Mit letzten Kräften wuchtete man die geschundenen Grafikkarten letztlich vor BOINC.Italy (#19) ins Ziel.

Während es BOINCstats (#20) und BOINC@MIXI (#21) ruhig auspendeln ließen, mussten die AMD Users alles geben, um #22 einzufahren. Nur knapp dahinter mussten sie sich in einem packenden Finish der Ukraine (#23) und SETIKAH@KOREA (#24) geschlagen geben. Für Das Kartell reichte es dahinter zu #25.

Mit einem gewaltigen Sprung beschwor TitanesDC seine stärkere Vergangenheit. Das kurze aufblitzen sorgte zumindest für #26 und ließ das UK BOINC Team etwas verschreckt auf #27 zurück. Während BOINC Confederation in Ruhe #28 einlief, konnte sich Seti@Netherlands mit #29 arangieren. Zu #30 reichte es für boinc.sk, deutlich vor Raccoon Lovers (#31) und BOINC@Pfalz (#32). Hier musste übrigens wieder das Fotofinish entscheiden. Seti.Bitola holte sich #33, während sich BEIJING 2022 (#34) die Schuhe nicht schmutzig gemacht hat.

Die nächste Entscheidung naht beim Sprint. Hier haben wir Halbzeit. Jetzt kommt es darauf an, das Tempo dauerhaft hoch zu halten. Jeder Einbruch wird ansonsten gnadenlos genutzt. SUSA hat sich an die Spitze gesetzt und das schon vom Sieg träumende Team China (#2) böse geweckt. Dahinter verliert P3D (#3) fleißig an Boden, kann sich aber deutlich von den Verfolgern absetzen.

Diese führt derzeit SG (#4) an, doch Gridcoin (#5) und CNT (#6) halten den Druck auf die Deutschen hoch. Während RKN mit #7 wichtige Punkte einfahren könnte, wird #8 bei OCN für Stirnrunzeln sorgen. Zwar scheint von den Verfolgern AF (#9) und der gut aufgelegten BOINC Confederation (#10) keine Gefahr auszugehen, doch etwas mehr sollte es schon sein.

Dahinter könnten sich TAAT und OcUK nicht einigen, wer nun gerade auf #11 oder #12 sprintet. Ich mache schon mal wieder Hubble bereit. Das werde ich wohl auch bei USA (#13) und den Meisterkuehler (#14) benötigen. Crunching@EVGA (#15) ist derzeit damit beschäftigt ängstlich auf [H]ard|OCP (#16) zu blicken, OCP kommt kräftig näher.

Hin- und hergerissen ist derzeit BOINC.Italy (#17). Angreifen oder sich mit Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#18) wieder auf ein inneritalenisches Duell einlassen? Ob diese Frage für BOINC@MIXI (#19) von belang ist? Ganz kräftig nach unten ging es in den letzten Stunden, war man da am Start zu schnell?

BOINCstats (#20) könnte dies ausnutzen, doch derzeit sieht es eher nach Abwarten aus. Wittert man hier eine Falle oder geht nicht mehr? Zumindest die Ukraine (#21) setzt die Chefstatistiker noch unter Druck und wird die Frage bald beantworten. Auch für BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#22) und Das Kartell (#23) ist ein Sprung nach vorne möglich. Ob sie das hinkriegen?

Beim Schwimmen schwächelt plötzlich SUSA, nur noch #3. Ist das ein taktisches Manöver oder tut man nur noch das nötigste? P3D konnte sich zumindest an der Spitze positionieren und baut den Vorsprung aus. Überraschend greift nun auch Gridcoin (#2) nach der Macht. Es bleibt abzuwarten ob sich das am Ende ausgeht.

Mit der bisher besten Einzelleistung hat sich AF auf #4 gesetzt, gefolgt von SG (#5). Für die Deutschen geht es in der Gesamtwertung um Bronze, d.h. ruhige Stunden sind hier nicht zu erwarten. Schon etwas zurück liegt die Kampfgruppe mit OCN (#6), Team China (#7) und CNT (#8). RKN (#9) und OcUK (#10) halten sich da lieber raus und konzentrieren sich aufeinander.

USA hält weiter wacker #11 und kann die sporadischen Angriffsversuche der BOINC Confederation (#12) problemlos parieren. Weder BOINC.Italy (#13) noch Meisterkuehler (#14) machen derzeit den Eindruck sich da einmischen zu wollen, obwohl sie durchaus in Schlagdistanz sind. TAAT hat sich erstmal auf #15 gesprintet und ist dabei BOINCstats (#16) davon abzuhalten zurückzuschlagen.

[H]ard|OCP hat das Tempo forciert und sich erstmal auf #17 gestellt, mehr ist durchaus drin. Dampf machen dahinter auch Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#22) und TitanesDC (#23). Hoffen wir das ihnen die Kohle nicht ausgeht.

Da beim Marathon aktuell nicht viel los ist, nur ein kurzer Blick an diese Strecke. SUSA vor P3D und Gridcoin, keine Änderung also. Auch dahinter keine Veränderung, wenn man von den beiden Duellen um #9 und #11 absieht. RKN und OcUK (um #9) und TAAT und Meisterkuehler (um #11) befinden sich in packenden Duellen. Da macht das Zuschauen richtig Laune.
Und am Ende des Feldes ist es schön zu sehen das sich BOINC@Pfalz (#28) und TitanesDC (#29) nicht aufgeben und sogar Plätze gutmachen.

In der Gesamtwertung büßte SUSA zwar etwas von seinem Vorsprung ein, doch ist dieser noch groß genug um Gold abzusichern. Silber zu verlieren wird aber auch für P3D eine echte Herausforderung sein. Beim Kampf um Bronze spitzt sich die Lage aber dramatisch zu. Derzeit ist SG wieder zurück auf diesem, ihrem Stammplatz. Team China hat beim Sprint die Führung eingebüsst und damit auf #4 zurückgesetzt.

Das Gridcoin (#5) noch mit im Spiel ist verdanken sie der starken Performance beim Schwimmen. Wenn sie höher hinaus wollen müssen sie beim Sprint nachlegen. Dies trifft auch auf OCN zu. Auf #6 zurückgefallen macht sich hier der Kräfteeinsatz beim Querfeldein deutlich. Kostet der Sieg beim Querfeldein ihnen am Ende Bronze? Tja, so verrückt kann der Pentathlon sein.

Für CNT wird mehr #7 schon eine echte Herausforderung. AF (#8) dahinter hat auch nur noch begrenztes Potential. Von hinten droht dem Duo kaum Gefahr. RKN (#9), OcUK (#10) und TAAT (#11) zeigen eine sehr gute Leistung, aber für mehr reicht es auch nicht. So können die drei sich besser aufeinander konzentrieren.

Das Dutzend voll machen die Meisterkuehler, gefolgt von den punktgleichen Teams von [H]ard|OCP (#13) & USA (#14). Die BOINC Confederation (#15) hat weiterhin einen guten Lauf, sollte aber nicht leichtsinnig werden. BOINC.Italy (#16) kann schneller da sein als man denkt, denn beim Sprint haben sie noch große Reserven.

Gruppo Italiano Boinc büßt vor allem beim Schwimmen viele Punkte ein, daher liegen sie hinter ihren Landsleuten aktuell nur auf #17. Wenn sie dies ändern könnten, ist sogar mehr drin. Dahinter folgen BOINCstats (#18), Crunching@EVGA (#19), BOINC@MIXI (#20), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#21) Ukraine (#22) und AMD Users (#23). Innerhalb von 22 Punkten liegen diese Teams. Viel gewinnen, aber auch viel verlieren ist hier noch möglich.

Die Endphase beim Sprint steht bevor und damit wichtige Weichenstellungen für die letzten Tage.

Day 9

We are recording the 13th May in the year 2017. This is the day on which the teams must invest all their energy. The day that can mean the end if you show weakness. The day when 4 disciplines have to be mastered at the same time and tactical genius is of the essence. It is the ultimate challenge, the Iron-Crunch.

The teams have just got underway at the Sprint. However, just before I take a look at the current situation, I need to take a look at the past. Until now, SUSA, P3D, CNT and Team China were able to celebrate on the podium whilst SG had to content themselves with cheap metal. The same applies to the last 2 efforts at yoyo. SG seem to be afflicted by a curse. Can this spell be broken? Let’s take a look:

At the Sprint, SUSA were well aware that time was running out and fired all their engines but the only light on the horizon was #2. With powerful wing beats, Team China catapulted to the front of the field and they seem to mean business. P3D (#3) are beginning to evolve, at least as far as an individual medal is concerned. Can the Green Planet take on the eagle and the dragon?

I don’t really have to tell you where SG are. Correct, #4. Behind them, AF (#5) have moved into position. Sadly, a good start isn’t everything. OCN (#6) and Gridcoin (#7) have already taken up the scent. Rank 8 is probably only a snap shot for CNT, something is surely still due to happen there. On the other hand, RKN (#9) are already squabbling with TAAT (#10). Even BOINC Confederation might butt in in the hope that Crunching@EVGA (#12) and BOINC.Italy (#13) have no such ambitions.

Once again, USA (#14) are active in the middle of the field, followed by BOINC@MIXI (#15) and Rookie Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#16). A weak start once again from Meisterkuehler (#17) whereas Das Kartell (#18) should be content. [H]ard|OCP are nearer to the front than Ukraine (#20) are to OCP. Also, BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#21) are a pain in the neck for Ukraine.

Energy is being preserved at the Marathon. There’s still a long way to go and two decisions at other disciplines are on the agenda. We should therefore not be surprised that it is a little bit quiet here. This gives me the opportunity to analyse the possibilities.

It’s quite possible for P3D (#2) to displace SUSA from #1. The distance is not insurmountable but one would expect that output would have to be diverted from other disciplines. This year could be the first since 2010 that P3D are not going to win at least one discipline. It just needs a little bit of concentration to change that.

Gridcoin are holding good cards for the fight at #3 especially as OCN (#4) and SG (#6) distract each other. But woe if they decide to enter the final battle at the Marathon. That will put Gridcoin under pressure. It’s difficult to evaluate Team China (#5) who have already managed to get the better of SG. They might also decide to enter the race for #3 but does that make sense?

Looks like the remaining places in the Top10 have been allocated, only the running order is still open. AF (#7) must keep an eye on CNT (#8). Also, OcUK (#9) appear to be diverting resources at the moment which turns out to be a reckless idea as RKN (#10) are making the most of it and are attacking. In theory, Meisterkuehler (#11) and TAAT (#12) are still in with a chance of the Top10.

[H]ard|OCP (#13) remain at a high tempo but must now close a large gap. That will show us their real character. As expected, Gruppo Italiano Boinc moved up to #14 and are facing the same challenge as OCP. BOINC.Italy (#15) and BOINC Confederation (#16) can concentrate fully on their duel as Ukraine (#17) are most probably too far away. It’s still possible for USA (#18) to get further ahead as well as BOINC@MIXI (#19). This might develop into an exciting battle 3-way battle for #17.

5 teams are realistically still angling for #20, not excluding any surprises. LITOMYSL (#21) and AMD Users (#20) are currently running neck and neck which BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#22) are trying to turn to their advantage. And even BOINCstats (#23) and Crunching@EVGA (#24) could have a say.

Das Kartell appear to be fairly secure at #25. SETIKAH@KOREA (#26) could show us the opposite. The rest of the field is gathered around #27. Seti@Netherlands (#28) and boinc.sk (#27) are running side by side whereas BOINC@Pfalz (#29) and UK Boinc Team (#30) are using the slipstream to advance on the others. With a little motivation, TitanesDC (#31), Raccoon Lovers (#32) Seti.Bitola (#33) and BEIJING 2022 (#34) could still step in.

It’s plain to see at Swimming that teams are rationing their output. Not all resources are being mobilized and they are weighing up how much to invest and where. That doesn’t mean that events are becoming boring.

SUSA (#1) and P3D (#2) are once again racing neck and neck which Gridcoin (#3) would like to be a part of. But not all aspirations come true. AF (#4) and SG (#5) are currently not to be feared but if the pursuing Team China (#6) continue to push, both of them must react which would also put Gridcoin under pressure.

OCN at #7 are currently engaged in a three-way battle with CNT (#8) and OcUK (#9). RKN are not far behind but appear quite content with #10. Whilst USA are bravely holding on to #11, BOINC.Italy (#12) mustn’t let BOINC Confederation (#13) out of their sight. They are only separated by a cat’s whisker.

Meisterkuehler.de gave themselves a big push and are now at #14 and were thus able to keep BOINCstats (#15), TAAT (#16), AMD Users (#17) and BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#18) off their back. A bit further behind boinc.sk (#23), Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#24) and TitanesDC (#26) have finally woken up and opened up the throttle.

The decision of the day will be at the Cross-Country. In the lead, OCN continue to increase their advantage but there’s still a sense of optimism at SG (#2). That can only mean one thing: there’s more to come. How that might look was demonstrated by CNT (#4) in the last few hours. They were able to celebrate. They rushed past P3D (#5) with a mighty interim spurt that left the Germans wilted with fright. In their midst, SUSA (#3) have also opened up the throttle and advanced on SG.

And even Team China (#6) shouldn’t be left off the list. It will be as gripping as never before to see who will win which medal! It will be important for Gridcoin (#7) to hold on to their rank. That will be difficult enough as RKN (#8) and TAAT (#9) are beginning to limber up for the end spurt. It seems that Rank 10 couldn’t be taken away from AF or will OcUK (#11), [H]ard|OCP (#12) or Crunching@EVGA (#13) surprise us? We will see.

There continues to be hot competition for #14. USA (#14) and Meisterkuehler.de (#15) aren’t giving each other any advantage. LITOMYSL (#16) want to join in as they were able to get away from BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#17) who in turn left Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#18) standing. The Italians are beginning to tire which will be welcomed by their compatriots from BOINC.Italy (#19).

BOINCstats (#20) and BOINC@MIXI (#21) will decide the outcome amongst themselves. Neither Ukraine (#22), SETIKAH@KOREA (#23), nor AMD Users appear in a position to intervene. Rank #25 is looking good for Das Kartell and behind them, UK BOINC Team (#26), TitanesDC (#27) and BOINC Confederation (#28) are entering an exciting end phase. Margins are small and thus make everything possible.

In the Overall Standings we now have calculations from all the disciplines but until now, only one decision. The betting odds for the Overall Winner look decidedly gloomy at the moment. You’d even have to pay the bookmaker if SUSA win. The Americans are delivering an impressive performance this year with a high concentration of consistent power.

Behind them, P3D, Silver, could now only gamble away their chance as their rivals are some considerable distance behind them. It’s quite a comfortable situation to be in if you want to have fun. However, thus far, fear has reigned on the Green Planet. Next, we are witnessing a historic altercation. Never before has the battle for Bronze been more fascinating. 4 teams are still in with a chance, currently led by Team China, followed by SG, OCN and even Gridcoin.

There appears to be only enough for #7 for CNT this year. They will have to do more if they want to better their chances. AF (#8) are following closely behind but my bet would rather favour the Czechs. RKN are well content at #9 and even TAAT (#10) can be happy with the ranking. OcUK are looking a bit depressed, it won’t be easy for the Brits to edge in.

USA are holding on to a great rank, #12, followed by Meisterkühler who have still got potential at the Sprint. Separated from them by a whisker, [H]ard|OCP (#14) and BOINC.Italy (#15) are on equal points. BOINC Confederation (#16) and Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#17) are fighting the best Pentathlon in their history. In the case of the Italians, that shouldn’t surprise us as it’s their debut.

Who will claim the medal at the Cross-Country?
Will Gridcoin be able to hold onto #3 at the Swimming?
Will P3D leave the arena without an individual success this year?

As you can see, it remains exciting at the BOINC-Pentathlon.

Jour 9

Nous sommes le 13 mai de l'an 2017. C'est le jour où les équipes doivent mobiliser toutes leurs forces. Le jour où une faiblesse peut signifier le "out". Le jour où il faut surmonter 4 disciplines simultanément et où il faut du génie tactique. C'est le défi ultime: l'Iron Crunch.

Les équipes viennent de se lancer dans le Sprint. Mais avant de jeter un œil sur le tableau actuel, tournons-nous vers le passé. Jusqu'à présent, SUSA, P3D, CNT et Team China ont pu faire la fête sur le podium. En revanche, SG a toujours dû se contenter d'une médaille en chocolat. Ceci est également valable pour les deux dernières actions sur Yoyo. Il semble qu'une malédiction frappe SG. Peut-elle être rompue? On verra.

SUSA a compris qu'il n'y a pas de temps à perdre sur le Sprint et a immédiatement allumé tous les réacteurs, mais ce n'est que le rang 2 qui s'allume. Avec de puissants battements d'ailes, Team China s'est catapultée à la tête du peloton et semble être vraiment sérieuse. P3D (#3) commence à voir s'envoler ses espérances, du moins en ce qui concerne une médaille individuelle. La Planète verte pourra-t-elle rivaliser avec l'aigle et le dragon?

Dois-je vous dire où se place SG? Vous avez deviné, au rang 4. L'AF (#5) arrive derrière. Malheureusement, un bon départ ne suffit pas, OCN (#6) et Gridcoin (#7) ont déjà flairé la piste. Le rang 8 pour CNT n'est certainement qu'un instantané, il se passera encore quelque chose. RKN (#9), en revanche, est encore aux prises avec TAAT (#10). La BOINC Confederation pourrait également intervenir et doit espérer que Crunching@EVGA (#12) et BOINC.Italy (#13) s'abstiennent.

Solidement ancrées dans le peloton central, nous trouvons à nouveau USA (#14), suivie par BOINC@MIXI (#15) et la bleue Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#16). Les Meisterkuehler (#17) ont encore démarré faiblement, tandis que Das Kartell (#18) peut être satisfaite. [H]ard|OCP est plus proche de l'équipe qui la précède que l'Ukraine (#20) ne l'est d'OCP. Et BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#21) est sur le dos de l'Ukraine.

Au Marathon, on ménage ses forces. Le chemin est encore long et deux décisions sur d'autres disciplines sont à venir sous peu. Il n'est donc pas étonnant que la course se soit un peu calmée. Cela me permet d'analyser les possibilités.

P3D (#2) peut tout à fait pousser SUSA du 1er rang. Le retard n'est pas insurmontable, mais cela suppose d'enlever des forces à d'autres disciplines. Cette année pourrait être la première année depuis 2010 où P3D ne gagne pas au moins une discipline. Cela pourrait changer avec un peu de concentration.

Dans la bagarre pour la 3e place, Gridcoin a de bonnes cartes en main, d'autant plus qu'OCN (#4) et SG (#6) se distraient l'une l'autre. Mais gare à Gridcoin si elles décidaient de mener la bataille finale au Marathon. Ce serait alors vraiment serré pour elle. Team China (#5) reste difficile à cerner. Au moins, elle a pris SG par surprise. Elle aussi peut encore tenter de se hisser à la 3e place, mais est-ce que cela aurait un sens?

Les autres places du Top10 semblent également acquises, seul l'ordre n'est pas encore sûr. L'AF (#7) doit faire attention à CNT (#8). Et OcUK (#9) semble actuellement retirer des forces, ce qui s'avère être une mauvaise idée car RKN (#10) profite de l'occasion pour attaquer. Les Meisterkuehler (#11) et TAAT (#12) ont au moins encore des chances théoriques de rentrer dans le Top10.

[H]ard|OCP (#13) continue à maintenir un rythme élevé, mais elle doit combler un grand écart. Ce sera un véritable test pour les caractères. Comme prévu, le Gruppo Italiano Boinc s'est hissé au rang 14 et se trouve devant le même défi qu'OCP. BOINC.Italy (#15) et la BOINC Confederation (#16) peuvent désormais se concentrer totalement sur leur duel, car l'Ukraine (#17) semble trop loin. USA (#18) peut parfaitement progresser encore, tout comme BOINC@MIXI (#19). Nous pourrions assister à une passionnante bagarre à trois pour le rang 17.

D'un point de vue réaliste, 5 équipes se bagarrent encore pour le rang 20. Les surprises ne sont pas exclues. LITOMYSL (#21) et AMD Users (#20) se livrent actuellement une course au coude à coude que BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#22) tente de mettre à profit. BOINCstats (#23) et Crunching@EVGA (#24) devraient aussi avoir leur mot à dire.

Das Kartell semble être en sécurité au rang 25, mais SETIKAH@KOREA (#26) pourrait nous détromper. Le reste du peloton s'agglutine autour du rang 27. Seti@Netherlands (#28) et boinc.sk (#27) sont au coude à coude, tandis que BOINC@Pfalz (#29) et UK BOINC Team (#30) se servent du fait d'être sous le vent pour approcher. Avec un peu de motivation, TitanesDC (#31), Raccoon Lovers (#32), Seti.Bitola (#33) et BEIJING 2022 (#34) peuvent également intervenir.

C'est à la Natation qu'on voit bien que les équipes ont réparti leur puissance. Pour l'instant, toutes les forces ne sont pas encore mobilisées, on évalue l'énergie à investir aux différents endroits. Mais cela ne signifie pas que c'est ennuyeux.

SUSA (#1) et P3D (#2) se livrent encore une course au coude à coude à laquelle Gridcoin (#3) voudrait participer. Mais tous les espoirs ne se réaliseront pas. Pour l'instant, peu de danger émane de l'AF (#4) et de SG (#5), mais si leur poursuivant Team China (#6) continue à les mettre sous pression, ces deux équipes devront réagir et ça deviendra également serré pour Gridcoin.

Au rang 7, OCN est actuellement mêlée à une bagarre à trois avec CNT (#8) et OcUK (#9). Certes, RKN n'est pas très loin derrière, mais elle semble être heureuse de son rang 10. Tandis qu'USA se maintient vaillamment au rang 11, BOINC.Italy (#12) doit faire attention à la BOINC Confederation (#13). Il n'y a qu'un battement de cil entre ces deux équipes.

Meisterkuehler.de a fait une belle poussée vers l'avant: Désormais au rang 14 elle arrive à tenir BOINCstats (#15), TAAT (#16), AMD Users (#17) et BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#18) à distance. Un peu plus loin derrière, boinc.sk (#23), Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#24) et TitanesDC (#26) se sont réveillées et appuient fort sur le champignon.

La décision du jour tombera au Cross-country. En tête, OCN continue à consolider son avance, mais chez SG (#2) on est plein d'espoir. Cela ne peut signifier qu'une chose: quelque chose est encore à venir. Sous quelle forme, CNT (#4) l'a déjà célébré au cours des dernières heures. Avec un sprint intermédiaire de folie, elle est passée à côté de P3D (#5). Du coup, les Allemands ont séché sur place tellement ils ont eu peur. Entre-temps, SUSA (#3) a également relâché de la vapeur et s'est rapprochée de SG.

Ne rayons pas non plus totalement Team China (#6) de notre papier. Il règne un suspense inédit quant à savoir qui recevra quelle médaille! L'important pour Gridcoin (#7) est de conserver sa place. Ce sera déjà assez difficile, car RKN (#8) et TAAT (#9) s'assouplissent déjà pour le sprint final. La 10e place semble acquise à l'AF, à moins qu'OcUK (#11), [H]ard|OCP (#12) ou Crunching@EVGA (#13) ne nous surprennent? Nous verrons bien.

C'est à nouveau chaud autour du rang 14. USA (#14) et les Meisterkuehler.de (#15) ne se font pas de cadeau et sont quasiment à même hauteur. LITOMYSL (#16) veut les rejoindre. Elle a réussi à se détacher de BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#17), qui a elle-même laissé le Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#18) sur place. Les forces des Italiens déclinent, ce que leurs compatriotes de BOINC.Italy (#19) verront sûrement d'un bon œil.

BOINCstats (#20) et BOINC@MIXI (#21) décideront de la fin entre elles. Ni l'Ukraine (#22), ni SETIKAH@KOREA (#23), ni les AMD Users semblent capables de pouvoir encore intervenir. La 25e place sent bon pour Das Kartell, mais derrière, la phase finale sera captivante pour UK BOINC Team (#26), TitanesDC (#27) et BOINC Confederation (#28). Les écarts sont faibles, donc tout est encore possible.

Au classement général, nous avons désormais des pointages dans toutes les disciplines, mais un seul résultat jusqu'à présent. Actuellement, les cotes de paris pour la victoire globale sont vraiment mauvaises. Il faudra même payer les bookmakers si SUSA gagne. Les Américains nous montrent cette année une prestation impressionnante, ils sont concentrés au maximum et d'une force constante.

Derrière, P3D devrait vraiment mal jouer pour perdre l'argent, car la concurrence est vraiment loin. En somme, une situation confortable qui permettrait de réellement prendre du plaisir. Mais jusqu'à présent, la peur règne sur la Planète verte. Derrière, nous assistons à une querelle historique. La bataille pour le bronze n'a jamais été aussi passionnante. Quatre équipes ont encore une chance: en tête Team China, suivie par SG, OCN et même Gridcoin.

On dirait que CNT n'atteindra pas plus que le rang 7 cette année. Si elle en veut davantage, elle devra en faire davantage. L'AF (#8) n'est qu'à courte distance, mais je parierais plutôt sur les Tchèques. RKN se sent vraiment bien au rang 9 et même TAAT (#10) peut être satisfaite de son classement. OcUK a l'air un peu déprimée: il ne sera pas facile pour les Britanniques de faire une percée.

USA maintient un superbe 12e rang, suivie par les Meisterkuehler, qui ont toutefois encore du potentiel au Sprint. À un souffle derrière se trouvent les ex æquo [H]ard|OCP (#14) et BOINC.Italy (#15). BOINC Confederation (#16) et Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#17) disputent le meilleur Pentathlon de leur histoire, ce qui n'est pas étonnant pour les Italiens, vu qu'ils sont débutants.

Qui décrochera les médailles au Cross-country?
Gridcoin pourra-t-elle maintenir la 3e place à la Natation?
P3D quittera-t-elle la place sans victoire individuelle cette année?

Tag 9

Wir schreiben den 13. Mai des Jahres 2017. Dies ist der Tag, an dem die Teams ihre ganzen Kräfte investieren müssen. Ein Tag, an dem Schwäche das Aus bedeuten kann. Der Tag, an dem 4 Disziplinen gleichzeitig bewältigt werden müssen und taktisches Genie benötigt wird. Es ist die ultimative Herausforderung, der Iron Crunch.

Neu unterwegs sind die Teams beim Sprint. Doch bevor ich einen Blick auf die aktuelle Tabelle werfe, ein Blick in die Vergangenheit. Bisher konnten hier SUSA, P3D, CNT und Team China auf dem Podium feiern. SG dagegen musste sich immer mit Blech begnügen. Dies gilt übrigens auch bei den letzten beiden Einsätzen bei yoyo. Es scheint, es liege ein Fluch über SG. Kann dieser gebrochen werden? Mal schauen:

Das beim Sprint nicht viel Zeit bleibt hat SUSA verinnerlicht und sofort alle Düsentriebe gezündet, doch nun leuchtet nur #2 auf. Mit kräftigen Flügelschlag hat sich Team China an die Spitze Feldes katapultiert und meint es wohl richtig ernst. P3D (#3) schwimmen langsam die Felle davon, zumindest was eine Einzelgoldmedaille angeht. Kann der grüne Planet es mit Adler und Drachen aufnehmen?

Wo SG ist, brauche ich eigentlich gar nicht zu sagen. Richtig, #4. Dahinter hat sich AF (#5) geschwommen. Leider reicht ein guter Start allein nicht, OCN (#6) und Gridcoin (#7) haben bereits Witterung aufgenommen. Platz 8 für CNT ist sicher nur eine Momentaufnahme, da wird noch was passieren. RKN (#9) dagegen muss sich schon wieder mit TAAT (#10) auseinandersetzen. Auch die BOINC Confederation mischt sich da vielleicht wieder mit ein und wird hoffen, dass Crunching@EVGA (#12) und BOINC.Italy (#13) dies unterlassen.

Im Mittelfeld stabil dabei ist wieder USA (#14), gefolgt von BOINC@MIXI (#15) und Rookie Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#16). Schwach gestartet sind wieder die Meisterkuehler (#17), wogegen Das Kartell (#18) zufrieden sein kann. [H]ard|OCP ist näher nach vorne dran als die Ukraine (#20) an den OCP. Und BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#21) hängt der Ukraine im Genick.

Beim Marathon werden Kräfte geschont. Der Weg ist noch weit und zwei Entscheidungen bei anderen Disziplinen stehen an. Daher ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass etwas Ruhe eingekehrt ist. Das gibt mir die Gelegenheit für eine Analyse der Möglichkeiten.

SUSA von #1 zu verdrängen ist für P3D (#2) durchaus möglich. Der Rückstand ist nicht unüberwindbar, setzt aber wohl voraus, dass Kräfte von anderen Disziplinen abgezogen werden. Dieses Jahr könnte das erste Jahr seit 2010 sein, wo P3D nicht zumindestens eine Disziplin gewonnen hat. Mit Konzentration ist das änderbar.

Beim Kampf um #3 hat Gridcoin gute Karten, vor allem da OCN (#4) und SG (#6) sich gegenseitig ablenken. Aber wehe sie entscheiden sich, den Endkampf beim Marathon zu führen. Dann wird es für Gridcoin richtig eng. Schwer einzuschätzen bleibt Team China (#5), sie haben zumindest SG überrumpelt. Auch sie könnten noch versuchen, auf #3 anzurennen, aber ob das Sinn macht?

Die verbleibenden Plätze in den Top10 scheinen auch vergeben, nur die Reihenfolge ist offen. AF (#7) muss auf CNT (#8) aufpassen. Und OcUK (#9) scheint derzeit Kräfte abzuziehen, was sich gerade als dumme Idee herausstellt, denn RKN (#10) nutzt die Chance und greift an. Zumindest theoretische Chancen auf die Top10 haben noch Meisterkuehler (#11) und TAAT (#12).

[H]ard|OCP (#13) hält das Tempo weiter hoch, doch nun müssen sie eine große Lücke schließen. Das wird ein echter Charaktertest. Wie erwartet hat sich Gruppo Italiano Boinc auf #14 geschoben und steht vor der gleichen Herausforderung wie OCP. BOINC.Italy (#15) und die BOINC Confederation (#16) können sich nun ganz auf ihr Duell konzentrieren, denn die Ukraine (#17) ist wohl zu weit weg. Für die USA (#18) kann es durchaus noch weiter nach vorne gehen, genauso wie für BOINC@MIXI (#19). Hier könnte sich ein spannender Dreikampf um #17 entwickeln.

Um #20 rangeln realistisch gesehen noch 5 Teams, Überraschungen nicht ausgeschlossen. LITOMYSL (#21) und AMD Users (#20) liefern sich gerade ein Kopf-an-Kopf-Rennen, das BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#22) versucht für sich zu nutzen. Und auch BOINCstats (#23) und Crunching@EVGA (#24) können hier ein gewichtiges Wörtchen mitreden.

Das Kartell scheint auf #25 recht sicher zu sein. SETIKAH@KOREA (#26) könnte uns aber eines besseren belehren. Der Rest des Feldes sammelt sich um #27. Seti@Netherlands (#28) und boinc.sk (#27) laufen auf gleicher Höhe, während BOINC@Pfalz (#29) und UK Boinc Team (#30) den Windschatten nutzen und sich näher heran bringen. Mit etwas Motivation könnten auch TitanesDC (#31), Raccoon Lovers (#32) Seti.Bitola (#33) und BEIJING 2022 (#34) eingreifen.

Dass die Team ihre Kräfte eingeteilt haben, lässt sich gut beim Schwimmen beobachten. Noch werden nicht alle Kräfte mobilisiert, es wird abgewogen, wo welche Energie investiert wird. Das heißt aber nicht, dass es langweilig zugeht.

SUSA (#1) und P3D (#2) liefern sich wieder ein Kopf-an-Kopf-Rennen, an dem auch Gridcoin (#3) teilhaben möchte. Doch nicht alle Sehnsüchte werden in Erfüllung gehen. Noch droht wenig Gefahr von AF (#4) und SG (#5), doch wenn Verfolger Team China (#6) weiter Druck macht, müssen die beiden reagieren und dann wird es auch für Gridcoin eng.

OCN auf #7 ist aktuell in einen Dreikampf mit CNT (#8) und OcUK (#9) verwickelt. RKN liegt zwar nur wenig dahinter, scheint aber mit #10 ganz glücklich zu sein. Während die USA sich tapfer auf #11 halten, muss BOINC.Italy (#12) auf die BOINC Confederation (#13) aufpassen. Nur ein Wimpernschlag trennt die beiden.

Einen kräftigen Schubs nach vorn gab es für Meisterkuehler.de, nun auf #14, und sie können sich so BOINCstats (#15), TAAT (#16), AMD Users (#17) und BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#18) vom Leib halten. Etwas weiter dahinter sind boinc.sk (#23), Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#24) und TitanesDC (#26) aufgewacht und drücken gehörig auf die Tube.

Die Entscheidung des Tages fällt heute beim Querfeldein. An der Spitze baut OCN seinen Vorsprung weiter aus, doch bei SG (#2) gibt man sich hoffnungsfroh. Das kann nur eins bedeuten: Da kommt noch was. Wie das aussehen könnte, hat CNT (#4) bereits in den letzten Stunden zelebriert. Mit einem Irrsinns-Zwischenspurt ist man an P3D (#5) vorbeigerauscht, so dass die Deutschen vor Schreck ganz welk geworden sind. Dazwischen hat auch SUSA (#3) Dampf abgelassen und sich näher an SG geschoben.

Und selbst Team China (#6) sollten wir nicht ganz vom Zettel streichen. Wer welche Medaille erhält, bleibt spannend wie noch nie! Für Gridcoin (#7) zählt den Platz zu halten. Das wird schwer genug, denn RKN (#8) und TAAT (#9) machen sich für den Endspurt bereits locker. Platz 10 scheint AF nicht mehr nehmen zu sein, oder überrascht uns OcUK (#11), [H]ard|OCP (#12) oder Crunching@EVGA (#13)? Wir werden sehen.

Um #14 geht es weiter heiß her. USA (#14) und Meisterkuehler.de (#15) schenken sich nichts und sind praktisch gleichauf. Dazu will LITOMYSL (#16) stoßen, die sich von BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#17) lösen konnten, welche wiederum Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#18) stehen ließen. Den Italienern schwinden die Kräfte, was die Landsleute von BOINC.Italy (#19) gerne sehen werden.

BOINCstats (#20) und BOINC@MIXI (#21) werden das Ende zwischen sich ausmachen. Weder die Ukraine (#22), SETIKAH@KOREA (#23), noch AMD Users scheinen in der Lage, sich da noch einzumischen. Platz #25 für Das Kartell sieht gut aus, dahinter wird es aber für UK BOINC Team (#26), TitanesDC (#27) und BOINC Confederation (#28) eine spannende Schlussphase. Die Abstände sind gering und damit ist alles möglich.

In der Gesamtwertung haben wir nun bei allen Disziplinen Wertungen, doch bisher nur eine Entscheidung. Bei den Wettquoten sieht es derzeit für den Gesamtsieg echt duster aus. Da muss man sogar die Buchmacher auszahlen, wenn SUSA gewinnt. Die Amerikaner liefern in diesem Jehr eine beeindruckende Leistung ab, hochkonzentriert und beständig stark.

Dahinter kann P3D Silber eigentlich nur noch verspielen, die Konkurrenz ist doch einiges dahinter. Eigentlich eine komfortable Situation, um auch einmal richtig Spaß zu haben. Doch bisher regiert die Angst auf dem grünen Planeten. Dahinter sind wir bei einer historischen Auseinandersetzung dabei. Noch nie war der Kampf um Bronze so spannend. 4 Teams haben noch die Chance, angeführt aktuell von Team China, gefolgt von SG, OCN und sogar Gridcoin.

Für mehr als #7 scheint es dieses Jahr für CNT nicht zu reichen. Wenn sie mehr wollen, müssen sie mehr tun. AF (#8) liegt zwar nur kurz dahinter, aber ich würde dennoch eher auf die Tschechen wetten. Auf #9 fühlt sich RKN merklich wohl und auch TAAT (#10) kann mit dem Stand zufrieden sein. Etwas deprimiert schaut OcUK, es wird nicht einfach für die Briten, da noch reinzustoßen.

USA hält weiter einen tollen Rang 12, gefolgt von den Meisterkühlern, die aber beim Sprint noch Potential haben. Nur einen Hauch dahinter sind [H]ard|OCP (#14) und BOINC.Italy (#15) punktgleich platziert. Den besten Pentathlon bestreiten BOINC Confederation (#16) und Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#17) in ihrer Geschichte. Dies ist bei den Italienern nicht verwunderlich, als Neueinsteiger.

Day 8

Three simultaneous competitions take the crunchers from around the world to the edge. The bell was sounded for the deciding phase of the 8th BOINC-Pentathlon with the start of Swimming. Making mistakes means punishment, means suffering.

There’s still quite a bit of turmoil at the Marathon. Even though SUSA continue to lead ahead of P3D, they are not currently extending their advantage. It remains to be seen if that's due to weakness or done deliberately. With every passing day, Gridcoin at #3 are moving closer to Bronze. A margin of 2 million is quite a useful cushion but will that be enough? Behind them, Overclock.net (OCN) (#4) and SG (#5) appear to have found their rhythm. SG especially should not become reckless because every point counts at the Overall Standings. The dragon from Team China continues to lie in wait at #6 and ensures a really hot end phase.

The margins behind are very close together so that AF (#7) continue to be in danger. CNT (#8), OcUK (#9) and RKN (#10) are still in with a realistic chance. There’s a fist fight behind them for #11. TAAT and Meisterkuehler (#12) don’t allow each other any advantage but it is beginning to be apparent that the Cool team are suffering from exhaustion. [H]ard|OCP (#13) are continuing their march through the ranks. They are moving at such a good pace that #12 is coming within reach.

BOINC.Italy (#14) and BOINC Confederation (#15) didn’t enjoy the last few minutes and it could get much worse. They both lost a place and are now having to face Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#15) who threaten to knock both of them down. Ukraine (#17) had to let the Italians pass already and might have to live through the same soon with USA (#18). Well, Pentathlons can be traumatic...

But now off into the cool water at Swimming. Last night, everybody got underway. SUSA seem to have really toned up their leg muscles. Their customary lightning starts continue to leave their rivals stunned. It’s currently enough for the lead. Behind them, P3D are once again struggling to keep pace, at least for the moment. Gridcoin (#3) also cleared their start blocks well followed by AF (#4) which came as rather of a surprise. Then follow two teams who just don’t seem to be able to keep away from each other this year.

In each discipline in this Pentathlon, SG (#5) and OCN (#6) are keeping company and seem to need each other this year. However, margins are still not unsurmountable so that CNT (#7), USA (#8) and Team China (#9) could sever that link at any time. RKN are on their way at #10 followed by BOINC.Italy (#11) and OcUK (#12). BOINC Confederation are currently in an altercation with BOINCstats for #13 and might also hold the best cards in the long run.

The margins behind are so small that rankings are changing faster than I am able to write about. However, two things are noticeable. Meisterkuehler (#22) had another weak start. It doesn’t seem to work out so well for them this year. Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#29) seem to follow tactics of concentrated attack and success rather than needing to defend and always ending up the loser.

There’s the beginning of a sensation at the Cross-Country. During the last few hours, OCN were able to secure the lead which they are now continuing to extend. However, it remains to be seen if that is going to be enough. SG (#2) won’t just be burying themselves in the sand. Looks like #3 is arriving at the right moment for SUSA as they manage to leave P3D (#4) behind them. We’ll keep watching with interest to see what these two teams can deliver in the end spurt. We can’t rule out that 2 further teams, Team China (#5) and CNT (#6), might have a say in the outcome of the medal distribution.

Gridcoin are well placed at #7. RKN (#8) are keeping up the pace but aren’t strong enough to attack. TAAT continue to defend #9, AF (#10) demonstrate once again that they are not very fond of the open country. Whilst OcUK (#11) who are ahead of [H]ard|OCP (#12) should stay vigilant, behind, Crunching@EVGA (#13) have currently emerged the winner of the battling trio. USA (#14) and Meisterkuehler (#15) are still intending to stay with them.

Gruppo Italiano Boinc seem to have reached their maximum with #17 which BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#18) would also like to claim for themselves. The situation is just coming to a head here. BOINC.Italy (#19) can relax and monitor what’s happening. Apart from that there’s very little movement ahead of the final day. It is the legendary calm before the storm.

In the Overall Standings, SUSA continue on course for Gold. Who is supposed to stop the Americans this year? The Americans present as dominant as never before and also manage to profit from problems at P3D (#2) and SG (#4). OCN (#3) are a team that had not been on most competitors’ radar and that’s what’s spicing up this Pentathlon. The battle for medals with stay tight right until the end as Gridcoin (#5) and also Team China (#6) are still in a position to step in.

For CNT (#7) it’s more about damage limitation and maybe a top ranking in an individual discipline. It looks like AF (#8) won’t be able to threaten the Czechs. RKN continue to cement #9 and Rechenkraft continue on their way looking solid. It remains to be seen if OcUK (#10) can keep up the pace at Swimming otherwise TAAT (#11) will seize the moment. USA (#12) are affirming their super performance this year although ought to be wary of [H]ard|OCP (#13) and BOINC.Italy (#14).

Meisterkuehler (#15) have shed a few feathers and have thus come into the domain of BOINC Confederation (#16). Gruppo Italiano Boinc are moving along at #17 followed by BOINCstats (#18) and Ukraine (#19). Currently jostling for the last remaining position in the Top20 are BOINC@AUSTRALIA and Crunching@EVGA, where the Australians have the advantage. BOINC@MIXI (#22) also have the potential to be amongst the Top20 but I have the impression that the last kick just isn’t going to be there. Then follow AMD Users (#23), LITOMYSL (#24), SETIKAH@KOREA (#25), UK BOINC Team (#26) and Das Kartell (#27). Moving along at the end of the field are Seti@Netherlands (#28), boinc.sk (#29), BOINC@Pfalz (#30), and TitanesDC (#31). Currently still completely without points are Raccoon Lovers, BEIJING 2022 and Seti.Bitola.

Jour 8

Trois compétitions simultanées amènent une fois de plus les cruncheurs du monde entier au bord de leurs limites. Le départ de la Natation sonne la phase décisive du 8e BOINC Pentathlon. Faire des erreurs signifie être puni, signifie souffrir.

Le Marathon est toujours assez mouvementé. Certes, SUSA continue à mener devant P3D, mais l'avance des Américains n'augmente plus. On verra si c'est par intention ou par faiblesse. Avec chaque jour qui passe, le bronze se rapproche davantage pour Gridcoin au rang 3. Deux millions d'écart sont vraiment un coussin confortable, mais est-ce que cela va suffire? Derrière, Overclock.net (OCN) (#4) et SG (#5) semblent avoir trouvé leur rythme. Sachant que SG ne doit pas oublier de rester prudente, car le moindre point compte pour le classement général. Le dragon de Team China est toujours aux aguets au rang 6 et peut encore se charger d'une phase finale brûlante.

Les écarts des équipes suivantes sont toujours très justes et l'AF (#7) est toujours menacée. En pratique, CNT (#8), OcUK (#9) et RKN (#10) continuent à avoir leurs chances. Le rang 11 fait l'objet d'une dispute musclée. TAAT et les Meisterkuehler (#12) ne se font pas de cadeau, mais les signes de fatigue semblent se multiplier chez les gars cool. [H]ard|OCP (#13) poursuit sa marche à travers les piliers de la course. La vitesse est tellement bonne que le rang 12 devient accessible.

Pour BOINC.Italy (#14) et BOINC Confederation (#15) ces minutes n'étaient pas si bonnes et cela pourrait encore être pire. Elles viennent chacune de perdre une place et voilà que le Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#16) s'apprête à leur passer dessus. L'Ukraine (#17) a déjà dû laisser passer les Italiens et pourrait bientôt revivre la même chose avec USA (#18). Eh oui, le Pentathlon peut aussi traumatiser...

Mais passons dans l'eau fraîche de la Natation. Cela a démarré cette nuit. SUSA semble vraiment avoir les muscles des jambes très bien entraînés. Ses départs éclairs réguliers étonnent encore et toujours ses concurrents. Pour l'instant, cela suffit pour mener. Derrière, P3D n'arrive encore pas à garder le contact, du moins jusqu'à maintenant. Gridcoin (#3) aussi a bien quitté les plots, suivie par l'AF (#4), ce qui est vraiment une petite surprise. Derrière, nous retrouvons encore une fois deux équipes qui n'arrivent pas à se lâcher cette année.

Dans chaque discipline de ce Pentathlon, SG (#5) et OCN (#6) sont voisines de rang, elles semblent vraiment avoir besoin l'une de l'autre. Par contre, les écarts sont encore suffisamment gérables pour que CNT (#7), USA (#8) et Team China (#9) puissent séparer cette relation à tout moment. RKN nage encore au rang 10, suivie par BOINC.Italy (#11) et OcUK (#12). La BOINC Confederation est en train de se battre avec BOINCstats pour le rang 13 et pourrait avoir les meilleures cartes à long terme.

Les écarts derrière sont tellement justes que les positions changent plus vite que je ne peux écrire. Cependant, deux choses sautent aux yeux: Les Meisterkuehler (#22) ont encore fait un départ faible, les choses ne tournent pas aussi rond cette année. Et le Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#29) semble à nouveau avoir donné comme consigne: il vaut mieux se concentrer et avoir du succès plutôt que de se répartir et de se retrouver dans les derniers à chaque fois.

Au Cross-country une sensation s'amorce doucement. OCN a pu sécuriser et lentement consolider sa place au sommet au cours des dernières heures. Reste à voir si ça suffira. SG (#2) ne se jettera sûrement pas si facilement dans le sable. Pour SUSA, le rang 3 viendrait à propos, car elle laisse P3D (#4) derrière elle. Ici aussi, il sera intéressant de voir ce que ces deux équipes peuvent encore fournir au sprint final. Il n'est pas non plus exclu que deux autres équipes, Team China (#5) et CNT (#6), interviennent dans l'attribution des médailles.

Pour Gridcoin, le rang 7 est OK. RKN (#8) continue à être bonne, mais pas assez forte pour attaquer. TAAT arrive toujours à défendre le rang 9. L'AF (#10) montre cette fois encore qu'elle n'aime pas trop le tout-terrain. Tandis que OcUK (#11) devrait se méfier de [H]ard|OCP (#12), le tiercé qui se joue derrière a été remporté par Crunching@EVGA (#13) pour l'instant. Mais USA (#14) et les Meisterkuehler (#15) veulent rester au contact.

Pour le Gruppo Italiano Boinc, le maximum semble atteint avec le rang 17, ce que BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#18) voudrait bien prétendre pour elle aussi. La situation est donc en train de devenir dramatique. BOINC.Italy (#19) peut suivre les événements d'un air détendu. À part cela, peu de mouvement avant le dernier jour. C'est le légendaire calme avant la tempête.

Au classement général, SUSA poursuit sa ruée vers l'or. Qui pourrait arrêter les Américains cette année? Ils dominent comme jamais et profitent des problèmes chez P3D (#2) et SG (#4). Le fait qu'OCN (#3) est une équipe que pratiquement personne n'avait sur ses radars, donne une saveur particulière à ce Pentathlon. La bataille des médailles sera serrée jusqu'au bout, car Gridcoin (#5) et Team China (#6) sont également tout à fait capables d'intervenir.

Pour CNT (#7), il s'agirait plutôt de limiter les dégâts et peut-être de décrocher une excellente place dans une discipline individuelle. L'AF (#8) ne devrait pas être une menace pour les Tchèques. RKN continue à sécuriser le rang 9; les gars et les filles de Rechenkraft avancent fermement jusqu'à présent. Chez OcUK (#10), il faut voir si elle peut garder le rythme à la Natation, sinon TAAT (#11) profitera certainement de l'occasion. USA (#12) confirme sa super-performance de cette année, mais doit se méfier de [H]ard|OCP (#13) et BOINC.Italy (#14).

Les Meisterkuehler (#15) laissent quelques plumes et atterrissent ainsi lentement dans le domaine de BOINC Confederation (#16). Au rang 17 se balade le Gruppo Italiano Boinc, suivi par BOINCstats (#18) et l'Ukraine (#19). Actuellement, BOINC@AUSTRALIA et Crunching@EVGA se battent pour la place restante dans le Top20, avec un avantage pour les Australiens. BOINC@MIXI (#22) a également le potentiel pour rentrer dans le Top20, mais j'ai l'impression qu'il leur manque encore la dernière poussée d'adrénaline. Suivent AMD Users (#23), LITOMYSL (#24), SETIKAH@KOREA (#25), UK BOINC Team (#26) et Das Kartell (#27). En queue de peloton, nous trouvons Seti@Netherlands (#28), boinc.sk (#29), BOINC@Pfalz (#30) et TitanesDC (#31). Racoon Lovers, BEIJING 2022 et Seti.Bitola n'ont pas encore de points pour l'heure.

Drei Wettbewerbe zu gleicher Zeit bringen die Cruncher aus aller Welt wieder an ihre Grenzen. Mit dem Start beim Schwimmen wird die entscheidende Phase des 8. BOINC-Pentathlons eingeläutet. Fehler zu machen, heißt bestraft zu werden, heißt zu leiden.

Beim Marathon geht es immer noch recht unruhig zu. Zwar führt SUSA weiter vor P3D, doch der Vorsprung der Amerikaner wächst nicht mehr. Ob aus Absicht oder Schwäche wird sich noch zeigen. Für Gridcoin auf #3 rückt mit jedem Tag Bronze immer näher. 2 Mio. Abstand sind schon ein brauchbares Polster, aber ob das reicht? Dahinter scheinen Overclock.net (OCN) (#4) und SG (#5) ihren Rhythmus gefunden zu haben. Wobei gerade SG nicht leichtsinnig werden darf, denn für die Gesamtwertung zählt jeder Punkt. Der chinesische Drache von Team China liegt auf #6 weiter auf der Lauer und kann noch für eine richtig heiße Schlussphase sorgen.

Die Abstände dahinter sind weiterhin knapp bemessen, so dass AF (#7) weiter in Gefahr ist. CNT (#8), OcUK (#9) und RKN (#10) haben durchaus noch praktische Chancen. Ein handfester Streit um #11 ist dahinter im Gange. TAAT und Meisterkuehler (#12) schenken sich hier nichts, allerdings scheinen die Anzeichen bei den Coolen für eine Erschöpfung zuzunehmen. [H]ard|OCP (#13) setzt weiter seinen Marsch durch die Institutionen fort. Das Tempo ist dermaßen gut, dass #12 greifbar wird.

Für BOINC.Italy (#14) und BOINC Confederation (#15) waren das nicht ganz so tolle Minuten und es könnte noch schlimmer kommen. Gerade jeweils einen Platz verloren, schickt sich Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#16) an, die beiden über den Haufen zu rennen. Die Ukraine (#17) musste die Italiener schon ziehen lassen und könnte dies bald durch USA (#18) nochmal erleben. Tja, Pentathlon kann traumatisch sein...

Doch nun ab ins kühle Nass, zum Schwimmen. Heute Nacht ging es los. SUSA hat scheinbar eine wirklich gut trainierte Beinmuskulatur. Ihre regelmäßigen Blitzstarts verblüffen die Konkurrenz immer wieder. Aktuell reicht dies zur Führung. Dahinter schafft es P3D wieder nicht dranzubleiben, zumindest bis jetzt nicht. Auch Gridcoin (#3) ist gut aus den Blöcken gekommen, gefolgt von AF (#4), was wirklich eine kleine Überraschung darstellt. Dahinter haben wir wieder zwei Teams, die in diesem Jahr einfach nicht voneinander lassen können.

In jeder Disziplin diesen Pentathlons sind SG (#5) und OCN (#6) Platznachbarn, sie scheinen sich in diesem Jahr wirklich zu brauchen. Allerdings sind die Abstände noch überschaubar, so dass CNT (#7), USA (#8) und Team China (#9) diese Verbindung jederzeit trennen können. RKN ist wieder auf #10 unterwegs, gefolgt von BOINC.Italy (#11) und OcUK (#12). Die BOINC Confederation setzt sich gerade mit BOINCstats im Kampf um #13 auseinander und könnte langfristig hier die besseren Karten haben.

Die Abstände dahinter sind so knapp, dass es schneller Postionswechsel gibt, als ich schreiben kann. Auffällig sind aber zwei Dinge. Die Meisterkuehler (#22) sind wieder schwach gestartet. In diesem Jahr läuft es hier nicht ganz so rund. Und die Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#29) scheint wieder die Taktik ausgegeben zu haben, lieber konzentrieren und erfolgreich, als verteilen und immer hinten landen.

Beim Querfeldein bahnt sich langsam eine Sensation an. OCN konnte die Spitze in den letzten Stunden sichern und langsam ausbauen. Allerdings bleibt abzuwarten, ob das reicht. SG (#2) wird sich sicher nicht einfach so in den Sand werfen. Für SUSA dürfte #3 gelegen kommen, denn P3D (#4) lässt man hinter sich. Auch hier wird es interessant werden, was die beiden im Endspurt noch leisten können. Auszuschließen ist auch nicht, dass mit Team China (#5) und CNT (#6) noch zwei weitere Teams in die Vergabe der Medaillen eingreifen werden.

Für Gridcoin ist #7 in Ordnung. RKN (#8) ist weiter gut dabei, aber nicht stark genug, um anzugreifen. TAAT gelingt es weiter #9 zu verteidigen, AF (#10) zeigt auch dieses Mal, dass sie Gelände nicht so mögen. Während sich OcUK (#11) vor [H]ard|OCP (#12) in Acht nehmen sollte, hat den Dreikampf dahinter Crunching@EVGA (#13) aktuell für sich entschieden. USA (#14) und Meisterkuehler (#15) wollen aber dranbleiben.

Für die Gruppo Italiano Boinc scheint mit #17 das Maximum erreicht zu sein, was auch BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#18) für sich reklamieren möchte. Daher spitzt sich hier gerade die Lage dramatisch zu. BOINC.Italy (#19) kann entspannt mitverfolgen, was passiert. Ansonsten wenig Bewegung vor dem Schlusstag. Es ist die legendäre Ruhe vor dem Sturm.

In der Gesamtwertung ist SUSA weiter auf Goldkurs. Wer soll die Amerikaner dieses Jahr stoppen? Dominant wie nie präsentieren sich die Amerikaner und profitieren von Problemen bei P3D (#2) und SG (#4). Dass mit OCN (#3) ein Team mitspielt, das wohl kaum jemand auf der Rechnung hatte, gibt diesem Pentathlon eine tolle Würze. Der Kampf um die Medaillen wird bis bis zum Schluss eng, denn auch Gridcoin (#5) und Team China (#6) sind durchaus noch in der Lage einzugreifen.

Für CNT (#7) geht es da wohl eher um Schadensbegrenzung und vielleicht um eine Topplatzierung in einer Einzeldisziplin. AF (#8) wird den Tschechen wohl nicht gefährlich werden. RKN sichert weiter #9 ab, sehr solide sind die Rechenkraftler bisher unterwegs. Bei OcUK (#10) bleibt abzuwarten ob sie das Tempo beim Schwimmen halten können, ansonsten wird TAAT (#11) die Gunst der Stunde sicher nutzen. Die USA (#12) bestätigen ihre super Leistung in diesem Jahr, müssen sich aber vor [H]ard|OCP (#13) und BOINC.Italy (#14) in Acht nehmen.

Die Meisterkuehler (#15) lassen etwas Federn und gelangen somit langsam in den Geltungsbereich der BOINC Confederation (#16). Auf #17 ist Gruppo Italiano Boinc unterwegs, gefolgt von BOINCstats (#18) und Ukraine (#19). Um den verbleibenden Platz in den Top20 rangeln derzeit BOINC@AUSTRALIA und Crunching@EVGA, mit Vorteil für die Australier. Auch BOINC@MIXI (#22) hat das Potential unter die Top20 zu kommen, aber ich habe den Eindruck, dass aktuell der letzte Kick dazu fehlt. Es folgen AMD Users (#23), LITOMYSL (#24), SETIKAH@KOREA (#25), UK BOINC Team (#26) und Das Kartell (#27). Am Ende des Feldes sind Seti@Netherlands (#28), boinc.sk (#29), BOINC@Pfalz (#30), und TitanesDC (#31) unterwegs. Ganz ohne Punkte sind derzeit noch Raccoon Lovers, BEIJING 2022 und Seti.Bitola.

Day 7

The teams don’t have much time to take a breather after the City Run. Right away, resources were diverted to the Marathon and Swimming. The lucky ones were those who could cool down in the refreshing water. If the temperature from the last few days is anything to go by, I hope that the teams come equipped with a considerable amount of wetsuits. Here and there, I’ve even seen a few ice floes drifting on the water.

Looking back at past competitions in the cool water, SUSA and P3D were able to claim Gold and Silver once respectively. Next to SG, CNT were able to bring home one of their six Bronze medals. So far nothing unusual. They’ve got to factor in Gridcoin who is the No 2 in this project. LHC appeared only once before on the Pentathlon’s menu and then only as a quick snack. It was then that SUSA won ahead of P3D and CNT.

All this lets me reach the following conclusion. None of the aforementioned will help us determine who will win. Only one thing is already clear. P3D must make up points to catch up with SUSA otherwise SUSA will use the Sprint as an exhibition run. That will hopefully not to pass as we would like to experience the outcome in the final hour of this Pentathlon.

Whilst the teams are getting into position at the start blocks in Swimming, Cross-Country is all about mobilising all their resources for the decisive last metre. SG (#2) and Overclock.net (#1) don’t give each other any advantage. There’s a constant change of leader whereby SG have thus far managed to retaliate. In the meantime, SUSA (#3) and P3D (#4) continue to lose ground. It doesn’t look like much, however, the deficit is plain to see. It’s high time that P3D moved up a gear.

Nimble-footed, Team China (#5) continue on their way. On the one hand they are able to ward off CNT (#6) but are on the other hand in striking distance to the Green Planet. Such an attack could cost P3D their Silver rank in the Overall Standings. CNT are another team I don’t want to pass over lightly because it’s no longer a secret that they know how to bunker. RKN (#7) are under pressure as Gridcoin (#8) are wearing the faster shoes right now.

TAAT are unable to keep up with this tempo which allows them to concentrate fully on the defence of #9. AF (#10) appear as if they won’t be wanting to attack, let's hope they prove us wrong. Then follow OcUK (#11), [H]ard|OCP (#12) and USA (#13). The Americans have succeeded in keeping Meisterkuehler (#14) behind them. MK’s cooling system seems to have sprung a leak as Crunching@EVGA (#15) are much faster and coming closer.

LITOMYSL (#16) have to decide whether to keep up or stay at their position. The latter doesn’t seem so bad but Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#17) shouldn’t let the Czechs out of their eyes. BOINC.Italy (#18) remain completely in the Rookie’s shadow this year. Is a changing of the guard pending? BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#19) managed to push between the two Italian teams, BOINCstats (#20) would only be able to follow suit by using all their reserves.

There’ve been no changes in the top group of the Marathon. SUSA ahead of P3D ahead of Gridcoin ahead of Overclock.net ahead of SG ahead of Team China ahead of AF ahead of CNT ahead of OcUK. RKN found that too boring and pushed past Meisterkuehler (#11) and TAAT (#12) and ran all the way to #10. In my opinion, BOINC.Italy (#13) and BOINC Confederation (#14) are taking it far too leisurely. There might be consequences as [H]ard|OCP (#15) will be difficult to slow down in their push to the front. They gained 3 places on the way up. That’s great news but here’s a team that goes one better. Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#17) have gained 8 places since yesterday and it won’t be long before Ukraine (#16) will be their ninth victim.

USA (#18), BOINC@MIXI (#19), AMD Users (#20), LITOMYSL (#21), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#22) and Crunching@EVGA (#23) had nothing on offer to counteract. BOINCstats (#24) remain in the wake of the group and at the same time are being pursued by Das Kartell (#25) who are looking quite weak at the moment. Places were exchanged at #29, BOINC@Pfalz got the better of UK Boinc Team.

In the Overall Standings, SUSA continue to lead ahead of P3D. Their jump to the top at the Cross-Country ensured that Overclock.net were able to advance to #3 and in so doing, pushed SG (#4) off the podium. There’s not much movement behind them. Our teams aren’t by any chance overcome by the notorious half-time depression? There’s only one remedy, crunch until the processor glows and the graphic card whimpers for mercy. Team China (#5) are upholding their chances for #3 although this train has now surely departed for Gridcoin (#6) and CNT (#7). AF (#8) are making sure that RKN (#9) don’t become too lively whilst TAAT (#10) and OcUK (#11) are marching in step.

There’s been quite a lot of activity in the middle of the field. [H]ard|OCP have been busy gathering points and thus secured #12 and have confronted Meisterkuehler (#13) with a big problem. Meanwhile, Gruppo Italiano Boinc have managed to get to #15. The attack at the Marathon is now paying dividends. Next target: USA (#14). Still on equal points with BOINC.Italy but that is only a snap view. It won’t be easy for BOINC Confederation to get closer but maybe they’ll be content with #17. Crunching@EVGA bravely defend #18 but BOINC@MIXI (#19), Ukraine (#20), LITOMYSL (#21) and BOINCstats (#22) could upset the order of things with short quick attacks.

There’s an exciting situation spread out in front of us and this will only get much worse tonight.

Who will have the best start in the paddling pool?
Can Overclock.net really beat SG?
And what will P3D do?

As you see, it remains exciting at the Boinc-Pentathlon.

Jour 7

Après la Course Urbaine, les équipes n'ont pas eu beaucoup de temps pour souffler. Elles ont immédiatement réparti leurs forces sur le Marathon et surtout sur la Natation. Ceux qui ont pu se rafraîchir dans l'eau ont eu de la chance. Mais compte tenu des températures des derniers jours ici, j'espère que les équipes ont prévu un nombre suffisant de combinaisons en néoprène. Ici et là j'ai déjà vu flotter des blocs de glace sur l'eau...

Au cours des derniers challenges aquatiques, SUSA et P3D ont chacune remporté une fois l'or et une fois l'argent. Outre SG, CNT a réussi à décrocher ici une de ses six médailles de bronze. Jusque-là, rien d'anormal. Mais elles devront compter avec Gridcoin, toujours 2e sur ce projet. LHC lui-même n'était qu'une fois au menu du Pentathlon, et encore c'était juste un en-cas. À l'époque, SUSA a gagné devant P3D et CNT.

Tout cela ne me permet qu'une seule conclusion: rien de tout cela ne nous aidera à savoir qui va gagner. Une seule chose est claire. P3D doit rattraper des points par rapport à SUSA, sinon SUSA pourra se servir du Sprint comme d'un gala. Il va de soi que je ne l'espère pas, nous voulons tous vivre la décision seulement dans la dernière heure du Pentathlon.

Tandis que les équipes continuent à s'aligner sur le départ de la Natation, il s'agit déjà de mobiliser toutes les forces pour les derniers mètres décisifs du Cross-country. SG (#2) et Overclock.net (#1) ne se font toujours pas de cadeau. Il y a des changements de tête permanents, SG ayant toujours pu riposter jusqu'à présent. Pendant ce temps, SUSA (#3) et P3D (#4) continuent à perdre du terrain. Cela ne semble pas beaucoup, mais leur retard est net. Il est grand temps d'accélérer, surtout pour P3D.

Team China (#5) avance d'un pied léger. D'une part, elle semble pouvoir se protéger sans peine contre CNT (#6), d'autre part, elle est toujours à portée de tir de la Planète verte. Une telle attaque pourrait même coûter à P3D la place en argent au classement général. Je ne voudrais pas non plus passer à la légère sur CNT, car ce n'est plus un secret depuis longtemps qu'elle sait remplir ses caches. RKN (#7) est sous pression car Gridcoin (#8) a enfilé les chaussures plus rapides pour l'instant.

TAAT n'arrive pas à suivre ce rythme et peut donc entièrement se concentrer sur la défense du rang 9. J'espère me tromper en disant que l'AF (#10) ne donne pas l'impression de réellement vouloir attaquer. Suivent OcUK (#11), [H]ard|OCP (#12) et USA (#13). Les Américains ont réussi à laisser les Meisterkuehler (#14) derrière eux. Chez MK, le système de refroidissement semble fuir, car même Crunching@EVGA (#15) est plus rapide et se rapproche.

LITOMYSL (#16) est devant la décision de rester au contact ou de maintenir sa place. Pour cette dernière option, les choses ne vont pas si mal, mais les Tchèques ne doivent pas quitter le Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#17) des yeux. Cette année, BOINC.Italy (#18) est totalement à l'ombre de la bleue. Serions-nous à la veille d'une relève de la garde? BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#19) pourrait encore se glisser entre les deux équipes italiennes, ce qui ne devrait être possible pour BOINCstats (#20) qu'à l'arraché.

Au Marathon, rien n'a changé dans le groupe de tête. SUSA devant P3D devant Gridcoin devant Overclock.net devant SG devant Team China devant l'AF devant CNT devant OcUK. RKN a trouvé cela trop ennuyeux et a doublé les Meisterkuehler (#11) et TAAT (#12) pour gagner le rang 10. À mon goût, BOINC.Italy (#13) et la BOINC Confederation (#14) avancent trop paisiblement. Cela pourrait se retourner contre elles, car [H]ard|OCP (#15) peut difficilement être freinée dans sa poussée vers l'avant. Elle a gagné trois places. C'est super, mais une équipe fait encore mieux. Le Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#17) a gagné 8 places depuis hier et ne mettra pas très longtemps pour faire de l'Ukraine (#16) sa neuvième victime.

USA (#18), BOINC@MIXI (#19), AMD Users (#20), LITOMYSL (#21), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#22) et Crunching@EVGA (#23) n'ont rien eu à opposer à cette phase de tempête et fracas. BOINCstats (#24) reste sous le vent du groupe et est en même temps poursuivie par Das Kartell (#25), qui a un sacré coup de mou en ce moment. Le rang 29 a changé de main: BOINC@Pfalz a chopé UK BOINC Team.

Au classement général, SUSA continue à mener, devant P3D. Grâce à son bond au sommet au Cross-country, Overclock.net s'est hissée au rang 3 et a viré SG (#4) du podium. Derrière, il n'y a que peu de mouvement pour l'instant. Nos équipes n'auraient quand même pas attrapé la fameuse dépression de la mi-temps? Il n'y a qu'un seul remède à cela: cruncher jusqu'à ce que le processeur rougisse et que la carte graphique crie grâce. Team China (#5) conserve ses chances au rang 3; pour Gridcoin (#6) et CNT (#7) ça semble cuit. L'AF (#8) veille à ce que RKN (#9) ne s'enhardisse pas trop, tandis que TAAT (#10) et OcUK (#11) marchent au pas.

Beaucoup de choses ont bougé dans le peloton central. [H]ard|OCP a assidûment collecté des points pour sécuriser le rang 12 et ainsi mis les Meisterkuehler (#13) devant une tâche ardue. Entre-temps, le Gruppo Italiano Boinc est arrivé au rang 15. L'attaque au Marathon paie! Prochain objectif: USA (#14). Pour l'instant, elle est encore ex æquo avec BOINC.Italy, mais ce n'est qu'un instantané. Il ne sera pas facile pour BOINC Confederation de s'en approcher, mais peut-être qu'elle se contentera du rang 17. Crunching@EVGA défend vaillamment sa 18e place, mais BOINC@MIXI (#19), Ukraine (#20), LITOMYSL (#21) et BOINCstats (#22) peuvent encore tout mélanger avec de brèves et rapides attaques.

Une situation pleine de suspense s'étale devant nous et cette nuit cela va encore empirer.

Qui démarrera le mieux dans la pataugeoire?

Viel Zeit zu verschnaufen blieb den Teams nach dem Stadtlauf nicht. Sofort wurden Kräfte auf den Marathon und vor allem Schwimmen verteilt. Glück hatten diejenigen, die sich im kühlen Nass abkühlen dürfen. Aber Anbetracht der Temperaturen hier in den letzten Tage hoffe ich, dass die Teams sich mit einer anständigen Zahl an Neoprenanzügen ausgerüstet haben. Hier und da habe ich bereits Eisschollen auf dem Wasser treiben sehen...

Bei bisherigen Wettbewerben im kühlen Nass konnten SUSA und P3D jeweils einmal Gold bzw. Silber holen. Neben SG konnte hier CNT eine ihrer sechs Bronzemedaillen einfahren. Soweit nichts ungewöhnliches. Rechnen sollten sie aber auch mit Gridcoin, immerhin Nr. 2 bei diesem Projekt. LHC selbst stand bisher nur einmal beim Pentathlon auf der Speisekarte, dazu noch als Schnellimbiss. Damals gewann SUSA vor P3D und CNT.

Das alles lässt mich nur zu einem Schluss kommen. Nichts davon wird uns helfen zu wissen, wer gewinnt. Nur eins ist jetzt schon klar. P3D muss hier auf SUSA Punkte aufholen, ansonsten kann SUSA den Sprint zum Schaulaufen nutzen. Das hoffe ich natürlich nicht, wir wollen die Entscheidung natürlich erst in der letzten Stunde dieses Pentathlons erleben.

Während sich die Teams beim Schwimmen noch an der Startlinie in Position bringen, geht es beim Querfeldein bereits darum, alle Kräfte für entscheidenden letzten Meter zu mobilisieren. SG (#2) und Overclock.net (#1) schenken sich weiterhin nichts. Permanent gibt es einen Führungswechsel, wobei SG bisher immer zurückschlagen konnte. Derweil büßen SUSA (#3) und P3D (#4) weiterhin Boden ein. Es erscheint nicht viel, dennoch ist der Rückstand deutlich. Vor allem für P3D wird es höchste Zeit, zuzulegen.

Leichtfüßig ist Team China (#5) unterwegs. Einerseits gelingt es ihnen, sich scheinbar mühelos vor CNT (#6) zu schützen, andererseits sind sie durchaus noch in Schlagdistanz zum grünen Planeten. Ein solcher Angriff könnte in der Gesamtwertung P3D sogar den Silberplatz kosten. Auch über CNT möchte ich nicht leichtfertig hinweggehen, denn dass sie bunkern können, ist schon lange kein Geheimnis mehr. Unter Druck ist RKN (#7), denn Gridcoin (#8) hat derzeit die flinkeren Schuhe.

Diesem Tempo kann TAAT nicht folgen, so dass sie sich ganz auf die Verteidigung von #9 konzentrieren können. Dass AF (#10) nicht den Eindruck macht, wirklich angreifen zu wollen, ist hoffentlich nur eine Fehleinschätzung. Es folgen OcUK (#11), [H]ard|OCP (#12) und USA (#13). Die Amerikaner haben es geschafft, die Meisterkuehler (#14) hinter sich zu lassen. Bei MK scheint das Kühlsystem leck zu sein, denn auch Crunching@EVGA (#15) ist flotter unterwegs und nähert sich.

LITOMYSL (#16) steht vor der Entscheidung, dranzubleiben oder den Platz zu halten. Für letzteres sieht es gar nicht so schlecht aus, aber Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#17) sollte die Tschechen nicht aus dem Auge verlieren. BOINC.Italy (#18) steht dieses Jahr ganz im Schatten des Rookies. Steht hier ein Wachwechsel an? Zwischen die beiden italienischen Teams könnte sich noch BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#19) schieben, was BOINCstats (#20) wohl nur unter Aufbietung aller Reserven möglich sein wird.

Beim Marathon hat sich in der Spitzengruppe nichts getan. SUSA vor P3D vor Gridcoin vor Overclock.net vor SG vor Team China vor AF vor CNT vor OcUK. RKN war das zu langweilig und hat sich vorbei an Meisterkuehler (#11) und TAAT (#12) auf #10 gerannt. Für meinen Geschmack zu gemütlich sind BOINC.Italy (#13) und die BOINC Confederation (#14) unterwegs. Das rächt sich womöglich, denn [H]ard|OCP (#15) ist in seinem Drang nach vorn kaum zu bremsen. Drei Plätze ging es für sie nach oben. Das ist klasse, aber ein Team setzt da was drauf. Die Gruppo Italiano Boinc (#17) hat seit gestern 8 Plätze gewonnen und wird nicht mehr lange brauchen und die Ukraine (#16) zum neunten Opfer machen.

Dieser Sturm- und Drangphase konnten USA (#18), BOINC@MIXI (#19), AMD Users (#20), LITOMYSL (#21), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#22) und Crunching@EVGA (#23) nichts entgegensetzen. BOINCstats (#24) bleibt im Windschatten der Gruppe und wird gleichzeitig verfolgt von Das Kartell (#25), die aber gerade ziemlich schwächeln. Einen Platzwechsel gab es auf #29, BOINC@Pfalz schappte sich das UK BOINC Team.

In der Gesamtwertung führt weiter SUSA vor P3D. Durch den Sprung an die Spitze beim Querfeldein hat sich Overclock.net auf #3 geschoben und SG (#4) vom Podium gestürzt. Dahinter gibt es aktuell wenig Bewegung. Es wird doch nicht die berühmt berüchtigte Halbzeit-Depression über unsere Teams gekommen sein? Es gibt nur ein Mittel dagegen, crunchen bis der Prozessor glüht und die Grafikkarte um Gnade winselt. Team China (#5) wahrt sich die Chancen auf #3, für Gridcoin (#6) und CNT (#7) ist dieser Zug wohl abgefahren. AF (#8) passt auf, dass RKN (#9) nicht zu mutig wird, während TAAT (#10) und OcUK (#11) im Gleichschritt unterwegs sind.

Getan hat sich einiges im Mittelfeld. [H]ard|OCP hat fleißig Punkte gesammelt und hat #12 abgesichert und die Meisterkuehler (#13) vor eine große Aufgabe gestellt. Auf #15 hat es inzwischen Gruppo Italiano Boinc gebracht. Der Angriff beim Marathon zahlt sich also aus. Nächstes Ziel: USA (#14). Noch ist man punktgleich mit BOINC.Italy, aber das ist nur eine Momentaufnahme. Da noch ranzukommen, wird für BOINC Confederation nicht einfach, aber vielleicht gibt man sich mit #17 zufrieden. Crunching@EVGA verteidigt wacker #18, doch BOINC@MIXI (#19), Ukraine (#20), LITOMYSL (#21) und BOINCstats (#22) können mit kurzen schnellen Attacken alles durcheinander bringen.

Eine spannende Situation liegt ausgebreitet vor uns und heute Nacht wird alles noch viel schlimmer.

Aufgrund des Pentathlons gibt es zeitweise keine neue Arbeit für das Subprojekt camb_boinc2docker. Wer in den Projekteinstellungen entweder planck_param_sims (benötigt wie camb_boinc2docker VirtualBox) oder camb_legacy (ohne vbox möglich) ausgewählt hat, sollte weiterhin problemlos neue Arbeit bekommen.

Neue camb_boinc2docker-WUs zeitweise deaktiviert
Hallo zusammen, um den Server flüssig am Laufen zu halten (durch all den zusätzlichen Andrang durch den Pentathlon ist er beinahe an den Grenzen seiner Kapazität), habe ich die Erzeugung neuer camb_boinc2docker-Aufgaben angehalten, bis der Wettbewerb am 19. Mai vorüber ist. All eure laufende camb_boinc2docker-Arbeit kann zu Ende gerechnet und validiert werden, dies bedeutet nur, dass keine *neue* Arbeit für diese Anwendung vom Server verschickt wird. Wenn ihr weiterhin Virtualbox-Anwendungen benutzen wollt (wie es camb_boinc2docker war), sollte es genug planck_param_sims-Aufgaben geben, stellt nur sicher, dass ihr diese Anwendung nicht explizit in euren Einstellungen deaktiviert habt. Am 5. Mai hat ERBrouwer, Mitglied des Teams Dutch Power Cows, die letzte Primzahl für die Basis R523 gefunden.
Die Primzahl 126*523^222906-1 hat 605973 Dezimalstellen und erreicht die TOP5000 in Chris Caldwells Datenbank der größten bekannten Primzahlen.
