The eleventh BOINC Pentathlon is over

After two exciting weeks the eleventh BOINC Pentathlon ended on 19 May 2020. 30 teams gave it their all in 5 disciplines.

A big thank you to the operators of this year's Pentathlon projects, as the competition would not have been possible without their support: Rosetta@home (Marathon), NumberFields@home (Javelin Throw), Universe@Home (City Run), Amicable Numbers (Cross Country) and Ibercivis BOINC (Sprint).

We'd also like to thank all participants and are looking forward to seeing you again at the twelfth BOINC Pentathlon starting on 05 May 2021.

Final Report - Overall Standings

There's a crazy Pentathlon behind us. I don't think it has ever been so nerve-wracking. This was mainly due to the fact that more teams were involved at the top and thus presented the strategists with real challenges. The Scottish Boinc Team was by far not as dominant as last year. And perhaps another team could have defeated the Scots. But behind them there was a tussle for the medals, which was super exciting, but also gave the Scots an advantage.

This is also shown by the different names in the winners list. 4 different winners show what makes this year so unique. And it did not matter that SETI.USA and Team China did not participate. They have just robbed themselves of a great experience. This will set the bar quite high for next year. The different disciplines had their own charm again. Of course the Sprint and Javelin Throw stand out a bit. The Javelin Throw made it clear what the teams had learned from last year. Here and there something went wrong. SETI.Germany could have done everything in three throws and thus saved important energy, or the AMD Users who only needed a third good throw to get further ahead. This means learning from it and making it better.

The Sprint was very tight, which always provides a special attraction and makes the division of forces so important. LinusTechTips_Team and the Dutch Power Cows also show that it is not a bad idea to choose a special discipline and try everything there, no matter what effect this has on the Overall Standings. I would like to see more of this option in the future, as it creates even more confusion and question marks.

Gold Medal

1 The Scottish Boinc Team (9-1-1-2-2) – previous year: #1

What the Scots delivered was not as dominant as last year. They completely blew the Marathon. But maybe that was strategy, after all it allowed them to concentrate on the other disciplines. The fact that the pursuers took the points away from each other has certainly helped as well. And the Sprint showed that they can be beaten.

Silver Medal

2 TeAm AnandTech (5-6-2-3-1) – previous year: #5

The team of the hour. They won a complete set of medals in the disciplines, which will look great in the team showcase. They could afford not to go in quite as hard in the Javelin and the Marathon. A strategy that has been rewarded. Over the last five years, they've continually improved in the Overall Standings. That sounds very exciting for the next year.

Bronze Medal

3 Planet 3DNow! (2-3-3-6-4) – previous year: #2

Even if it sounds strange, it was the worst Pentathlon for the Green Planet since 2010. They weren't really doing badly, only the competition increased. So they have to add more for next year or it will get hard for the medal. In the end, it worked out close this year, but the competition is getting stronger and more diverse.


4 SETI.Germany (6-2-4-4-3) – previous year: #6
This Pentathlon was an improvement on the previous year. There was no big mishap; only at the Marathon they were a bit weaker. Nevertheless, it can be summed up that the Germans have probably got the best out of it. Unfortunately, SG will have to wait for an individual victory, which they have not achieved since 2016.

5 Czech National Team (7-5-5-1-5) – previous year: #3
The victory in the Cross Country is the highlight for the Czechs and put an end to 7 years of suffering. Apart from that, they were stable and did not suffer any major weaknesses. Only in the Marathon did they let go too early, which meant that the final spurt was not much use. The Czechs have also become a victim of the stronger competition and will have to make up for next year.

6 LinusTechTips_Team (3-4-9-8-7) – previous year: #10
Increased again with the third participation and in addition bronze at Marathon. A successful Pentathlon all along the line. The concentration was probably put on the Javelin and the Marathon. At the Marathon it was almost enough for silver, but at the Javelin they got the best out of it, even if it was not enough for a medal.

7 Dutch Power Cows (1-10-13-13-9) – previous year: --
The victory in the Marathon was clear and deserved, but the flexibility to shift this power in time was missing in the other disciplines. A much better place in the Overall Standings was given away here. However, victory in the Marathon will be in the history books, and that right at the first participation in the Pentathlon ever. But there is potential for more next year.

8 L'Alliance Francophone (4-9-6-10-10) – previous year: #9
Since 2016, AF always crosses the finish line on #8 or #9. You could set a clock by it... The Alliance chugged steadily through the Pentathlon. The strong performance in the Marathon, however, probably cost strength in the other disciplines. They were also well underway at the City Run. There could have been more possible in the Sprint. With a somewhat bolder strategy, there will certainly be more to come in the future.

9 Rechenkraft.net (11-7-7-7-7) – previous year: #7
A little worse than last year, but still a good Pentathlon is behind the Rechenkraftler. #7 would have been possible, they were not far from it. There were too many points they left behind at the Marathon and unlike last year with bronze at the Sprint, there was no such top result this year.

10 [H]ard|OCP (12-8-8-5-6) – previous year: #4
[H]ard|OCP will remain without a medal this year. The best result was achieved in the Cross Country race, as last year, but a weak Marathon spoiled the record. Equal on points with Rechenkraft.net and not far behind on #7 show the potential that is still in this team.

11 Ukraine (8-14-12-15-11) – previous year: #19
Ukraine was once in the top 10 in 2011. It has not quite been enough this year, but it remains the best ranking since 2015. This upward trend could well continue. They poured the foundation at the Marathon, with the best individual result in history. Unfortunately they had problems with the Cross Country and with the Javelin. Nevertheless, the gap to the Top 10 is already considerable and a real challenge for next year.

12 Overclock.net (17-11-10-9-17) - previous year: #11
Do I have to worry for Overclock.net? Since 2017 they are falling behind in the rankings. Especially the Marathon and the Sprint cost a lot of points, which could not be made up for in the Cross Country. Next year they hopefully will be able to build on 2017, where they even won the Cross Country.

13 BOINC@AUSTRALIA (14-12-11-16-19) - previous year: #15
The Australians did the second best Pentathlon, so a good result. But the Sprint also took away their chance to get further ahead and they also left points in the Cross Country. The midfield is very tight together, so such carelessness is punished mercilessly. The Javelin shows that tactically they must be taken quite seriously. That gives us hope for next year.

14 BOINC.Italy (13-17-15-17-12) – previous year: #13
The boys and girls from Italy were very solid on the road. As in the last years, the Sprint and the Marathon were their favorites. This is where they achieved the best results. With some training in Cross Country and a little more tactical skill with the Javelin, the next year can be tackled well.

15 BOINC@MIXI (21-13-19-11-16) - previous year: #16
BOINC@MIXI can book the best Pentathlon since 2010. The best individual placement since 2010 was achieved in the Cross Country, thus securing important points. Tactical finesse was also demonstrated with the Javelin. Unfortunately the City Run and the Marathon cost important points. All together they can be very satisfied with their performance.

Did you know that there are only 8 teams that have participated in all Pentathlons so far? These are:
AMD Users, BOINC.Italy, BOINCstats, Czech National Team, L'Alliance Francophone, Meisterkühler, Planet 3DNow!, SETI.Germany, and Ukraine.

SETI.Germany is the only team that has won at least one individual medal in each Pentathlon.
Planet 3DNow! won the tenth medal in the Overall Standings, but this is one is special. It's the first bronze.

17 teams have already won an individual medal.
This year LinusTechTips_Team, TeAm AnandTech and the Dutch Power Cows were added.

The team with the most individual gold medals is still SETI.USA (15),
the most individual silver medals has Planet 3DNow! (21),
individual bronze medals SETI.Germany (11).

The most overall victories scored Planet 3DNow! (5), ahead of SETI.USA (3) and SETI.Germany / The Scottish Boinc Team (2 each).
There were only these 4 overall winners so far.

Le onzième BOINC Pentathlon est terminé

Après deux semaines passionnantes, le onzième BOINC Pentathlon s'est terminé le 19/05/2020. 30 équipes ont donné le meilleur d’elles-mêmes dans 5 disciplines.

Nous remercions vivement les administrateurs des projets sélectionnés pour ce Pentathlon. Journée Finale – Classement Général

Un Pentathlon complètement fou est derrière nous. Je ne pense pas en avoir déjà vu un aussi éprouvant pour les nerfs. Plus d’équipes impliquées au sommet ont effet présenté de vrais défis aux stratèges. La Scottish Boinc Team a été loin d’être aussi dominante que l’an dernier. Une autre équipe aurait peut-être pu battre les Écossais, mais derrière eux, la bagarre pour les médailles a été très excitante, mais leur a aussi donné un avantage.

Les différents noms dans la liste des gagnants le démontrent. 4 gagnants différents montrent ce qui rend cette année si unique. Et cela n’a pas d’importance que SETI.USA et Team China n’aient pas participé, elles se sont juste privées d’une expérience fabuleuse. Cela mettra la barre plutôt haut pour l’année prochaine. Les différentes disciplines ont de nouveau chacune leur charme. Bien sûr le Sprint et le Lancer de Javelot se démarquent un peu. Le Lancer de Javelot a pointé ce que les équipes ont appris de l’an dernier. Ici et là quelque chose n’a pas fonctionné. SETI.Germany aurait pu boucler l’affaire en trois lancers et économiser de l’énergie, ou les AMD Users n’avaient besoin que d’un bon troisième lancer pour progresser dans le classement. Il faudra apprendre de cela et progresser.

Le Sprint était très serré, ce qui provoque toujours un intérêt particulier et rend la division des forces si importantes. LinusTechTips_Team et les Dutch Power Cows ont aussi montré que ce n’est pas une mauvaise idée de choisir une discipline et de tout donner dessus, quel que soit l’effet que cela a sur le classement général. Je voudrais voir plus de cette tactique dans le futur, cela créée encore plus de confusion et de points d’interrogation.

Médaille d'Or

1 The Scottish Boinc Team (9-1-1-2-2) – année précédente: #1

La performance des Écossais ne fut pas aussi dominante que l’an dernier. Ils ont complètement laissé tomber le Marathon, mais c’était peut-être leur stratégie, après tout cela leur permit de se concentrer sur les autres disciplines. Le fait que leurs poursuivants se soient pris mutuellement des points a aussi certainement aidé. Le Sprint a aussi montré qu’ils pouvaient être battus.

Médaille d'Argent

2 TeAm AnandTech (5-6-2-3-1) – année précédente: #5

L’équipe du moment. Ils ont gagné un ensemble complet de médailles dans les disciplines qui feront jolies dans la vitrine de l’équipe. Ils purent se permettre de ne pas se donner complètement à fond dans le Lancer de Javelot et le Marathon. Une stratégie qui a été récompensée. Durant ces cinq dernières années, ils se sont continuellement améliorés au classement général. Les promesses sont excitantes pour l’an prochain.

Médaille de Bronze

3 Planet 3DNow! (2-3-3-6-4) – année précédente: #2

Même si cela paraît bizarre, c’est le pire Pentathlon pour la planète verte depuis 2010. Ils ne se sont pas trop mal comportés, mais la compétition s’est améliorée. Ils devront donc ajouter plus de forces l’an prochain ou cela sera plus dur pour les médailles. C’est passé près pour les médailles cette année, mais la compétition est plus puissante et plus variée.


4 SETI.Germany (6-2-4-4-3) – année précédente: #6
Ce Pentathlon est un progrès par rapport à l’an dernier. Il n’y a pas eu de gros pépin ; ils étaient seulement un peu plus faibles au Marathon. Néanmoins, on peut résumer en disant que les Allemands en ont tiré le meilleur. Malheureusement, SG devra attendre pour une victoire individuelle, objectif qu’ils n’ont pas atteint depuis 2016.

5 Czech National Team (7-5-5-1-5) – année précédente: #3
La victoire au Cross Country est le point fort pour les Tchèques et termine 7 ans de souffrance. À part cela, ils étaient très stables et n’ont pas souffert de faiblesse majeure. Ils lâchèrent seulement prise au Marathon un peu trop top ce qui rendit leur poussée finale un peu inutile. Les Tchèques ont aussi été victimes d’une plus forte compétition et devront en tenir compte l’an prochain.

6 LinusTechTips_Team (3-4-9-8-7) – année précédente: #10
Encore des progrès à leur troisième participation avec en plus le bronze au Marathon. Un Pentathlon réussit d’un bout à l’autre. Leur concentration était, sans doute, sur le Lancer de Javelot et le Marathon. Au Marathon, ce fut presque suffisant pour l’argent, mais au Lancer de Javelot ils en obtinrent le meilleur, même si ça ne fut pas suffisant pour une médaille.

7 Dutch Power Cows (1-10-13-13-9) – année précédente: --
La victoire au Marathon fut claire et méritée, mais la souplesse pour déplacer cette puissance au bon moment manquait pour les autres disciplines. Une meilleure place au classement général fut perdue là. Néanmoins, leur victoire au Marathon restera dans les livres d’histoire, et ça, dès leur première participation au Pentathlon. Mais il y a du potentiel pour plus l’an prochain.

8 L'Alliance Francophone (4-9-6-10-10) – année précédente: #9
Depuis 2016, l’AF a toujours passé la ligne d’arrivée au rang #8 ou #9. Réglé comme une horloge… L’Alliance souffla régulièrement à travers ce Pentathlon. La bonne performance au Marathon leur coûta probablement de la puissance dans d’autres disciplines. Ils étaient aussi sur une bonne trajectoire à la Course Urbaine. Ils y auraient pu y avoir d’autres possibilités au Sprint. Avec une stratégie plus audacieuse, il y aura certainement mieux dans le futur.

9 Rechenkraft.net (11-7-7-7-7) – année précédente: #7
Un peu moins bien que l’an dernier, mais toujours un bon Pentathlon terminé pour le Rechenkraftler. Le rang #7 aurait été possible, ils n’en étaient pas loin. Ils ont laissé trop de points derrière eux au Marathon et contrairement à l’an dernier, avec le bronze au sprint, il n’y a pas eu d’aussi bon résultat cette année.

10 [H]ard|OCP (12-8-8-5-6) – année précédente: #4
[H]ard|OCP sera sans médaille cette année. Leur meilleur résultat a été atteint au Cross Country, comme l’an dernier, mais un Marathon faible a terni le succès. Même nombre de points que Rechenkraft.net et pas loin derrière au rang #7 montre que le potentiel est toujours là pour l’équipe.

11 Ukraine (8-14-12-15-11) – année précédente: #19
L’Ukraine a été une fois dans le top 10 en 2011. Cela n’a pas été tout à fait suffisant cette année, mais cela reste quand même leur meilleur rand depuis 2015. Cette tendance vers le haut pourrait très bien continuer. Ils ont coulé les fondations au Marathon, avec leur meilleur résultat dans leur histoire. Malheureusement, ils ont eu des problèmes à la Course Urbaine et au Lancer de Javelot. Cependant, l’écart avec le top 10 est déjà important et un vrai challenge pour l’an prochain.

12 Overclock.net (17-11-10-9-17) - année précédente: #11
Dois-je m’inquiéter pour Overclock.net? Depuis 2017, ils reculent dans les classements. Spécialement le Marathon et le Sprint leur font perdre beaucoup de points, qui n’ont pas été rattrapés au Cross Country. L’an prochain, espérons qu’il s e reconstruiront en se basant sur 2017 ou ils gagnèrent même le Cross Country.

13 BOINC@AUSTRALIA (14-12-11-16-19) - année précédente: #15
Les Australiens réalisèrent leur second meilleur Pentathlon, un bon résultat donc. Mais le Sprint leur enleva tout espoir d’aller plus loin et ils laissèrent aussi des points au Cross Country. Le milieu du classement est très serré, une telle négligence est punie sans pitié. Le Lancer du Javelot montre qu’ils doivent être pris au sérieux tactiquement. Cela nous donne de l’espoir pour l’an prochain.

14 BOINC.Italy (13-17-15-17-12) – année précédente: #13
Les garçons et les filles d’Italie ont été très solides sur la piste. Comme les années précédentes le Sprint et le Marathon ont eu leur préférence. C’est là qu’ils ont atteint leurs meilleurs résultats. Avec un peu d’entraînement au Cross Country et un peu plus de stratégie au Lancer de Javelot, l’année prochaine peut être bien abordée.

15 BOINC@MIXI (21-13-19-11-16) - année précédente: #16
BOINC@MIXI termine leur meilleur Pentathlon depuis 2010. Leur meilleur résultat individuel a été atteint au Cross Country, assurant ainsi des points importants. Une bonne stratégie a aussi été mise en œuvre au Lancer de Javelot. Malheureusement, la Course Urbaine et le Marathon leur ont coûté des points importants. Tout bien considéré, ils peuvent être très satisfaits de leur performance.

SETI.Germany est la seule équipe qui a gagné au moins une médaille individuelle dans chaque Pentathlon.
Planet 3DNow! A gagné sa dixième médaille dans le classement général, mais celle-ci est spéciale. C’est la première en bronze.

Cette année se sont ajoutées LinusTechTips_Team, TeAm AnandTech et les Dutch Power Cows.

L’équipe avec le plus de médailles d’or individuelles est toujours SETI.USA (15),
le plus de médailles d’argent individuelles est Planet 3DNow! (21),
médailles de bronze individuelles SETI.Germany (11).

Le plus de victoires au classement général est Planet 3DNow! (5), devant SETI.USA (3) et SETI.Germany / The Scottish Boinc Team (2 chacune).
Il y a eu seulement 4 gagnants du classement général jusque là.

Der elfte BOINC Pentathlon ist beendet

Am 19.05.2020 ging nach zwei spannenden Wochen der elfte BOINC Pentathlon zu Ende. In 5 Disziplinen gaben 30 Teams ihr Bestes.

Ein großer Dank geht an die Betreiber der diesjährigen Pentathlon-Projekte, ohne deren Unterstützung der Wettbewerb nicht möglich gewesen wäre: Rosetta@home (Marathon), NumberFields@home (Speerwerfen), Universe@Home (Stadtlauf), Amicable Numbers (Querfeldein) and Ibercivis BOINC (Sprint).

Abschlussbericht - Gesamtwertung

Ein irrer Pentathlon liegt hinter uns. So nervenaufreibend war er wohl noch nie. Dies lag vor allem daran, das mehr Teams an der Spitze mitmischten und so die Strategen vor echte Herausforderungen stellte. The Scottish Boinc Team war bei weitem nicht so dominant wie letztes Jahr. Und vielleicht hätte ein anderes Team die Schotten bezwingen können. Doch dahinter gab es einen Vierkampf um die Medaillen, der super spannend war, aber auch den Schotten zum Vorteil gereichte.

Dies zeigen auch die unterschiedlichen Namen in der Siegerliste. 4 unterschiedliche Sieger zeigen auf, was dieses Jahr so einzigartig macht. Da machte es auch nichts, dass SETI.USA und Team China nicht teilnahmen. Sie haben sich selbst um ein tolles Erlebnis gebracht. Das legt natürlich Messlatte für das nächste Jahr recht hoch. Die verschiedenen Disziplinen hatten wieder ihren eigenen Reiz. Natürlich ragen Sprint und Speer etwas heraus. Beim Speerwerfen wurde deutlich, was die Teams vom letzten Jahr gelernt haben. Hier und da ging etwas schief. So hätte SETI.Germany alles in drei Würfen erledigen können und so wichtige Kräfte gespart oder den AMD Users fehlte nur der dritte gute Wurf, um weiter vorne zu landen. Daraus heißt es zu lernen und es besser zu machen.

Beim Sprint ging es sehr eng zu, was immer für einen besonderen Reiz sorgt und die Einteilung der Kräfte so wichtig macht. LinusTechTips_Team und die Dutch Power Cows zeigen aber auch, dass es keine schlechte Idee ist, sich eine spezielle Disziplin auszusuchen und dort alles zu versuchen, egal welche Wirkungen dies auf die Gesamtwertung hat. Von dieser Option würde ich in Zukunft gerne mehr sehen, denn dies sorgt für noch mehr Verwirrung und Fragezeichen.

Und hier die Gesamtwertung.
In Klammern die Platzierung in den Einzeldisziplinen in der Reihenfolge: Marathon - Speerwerfen - Stadtlauf - Querfeldein - Sprint.

Goldmedaille

1. The Scottish Boinc Team (9-1-1-2-2) – Vorjahr: #1

So dominant wie im Vorjahr war es nicht, was die Schotten abgeliefert haben. Den Marathon haben sie komplett vergeigt. Aber vielleicht war das ja Strategie, immerhin konnte man sich so auf die anderen Disziplinen konzentrieren. Geholfen hat sicher auch, dass sich die Verfolger die Punkte gegenseitig abgenommen haben. Und dass sie schlagbar sind, wurde beim Sprint deutlich.

Silbermedaille

2. TeAm AnandTech (5-6-2-3-1) – Vorjahr: #5

Das Team der Stunde. Sie räumten in den Disziplinen einen kompletten Edelmetallsatz ab, der macht sich super in der Teamvitrine. Sie konnten es sich leisten, beim Speerwerfen und dem Marathon nicht ganz so stark reinzugehen. Eine Strategie, die belohnt wurde. In den letzten fünf Jahren haben sie sich jedes Jahr in der Gesamtwertung verbessert. Das klingt sehr spannend fürs nächste Jahr.

Bronzemedaille

3. Planet 3DNow! (2-3-3-6-4) – Vorjahr: #2

Auch wenn es sich merkwürdig anhört, es war der schlechteste Pentathlon seit 2010 für den Grünen Planeten. Schlecht waren sie nicht wirklich unterwegs, nur die Konkurrenz hat zugelegt. Da heißt es, fürs nächstes Jahr nachzulegen, oder es wird eng mit der Medaille. Am Ende klappte es dieses Jahr knapp, aber die Konkurrenz wird stärker und vielfältiger.


4. SETI.Germany (6-2-4-4-3) – Vorjahr: #6
Dieser Pentathlon war eine Verbesserung gegenüber dem Vorjahr. Einen großen Ausrutscher gab es nicht, nur beim Marathon war man etwas schwächer unterwegs. Dennoch lässt sich zusammenfassen, dass die Deutschen wohl das Optimum herausgeholt haben. Auf einen Einzelsieg muss SG leider weiter warten, seit 2016 haben sie diesen nicht mehr erreicht.

5. Czech National Team (7-5-5-1-5) – Vorjahr: #3
Der Sieg beim Querfeldein ist der Höhepunkt für die Tschechen und beendete eine 7-jährige Leidenszeit. Ansonsten waren sie stabil unterwegs und leisteten sich keine großen Schwächen. Nur beim Marathon ließ man zu früh abreißen, wodurch der Endspurt nicht mehr viel brachte. Auch die Tschechen sind ein Opfer des stärkeren Wettbewerbs geworden und müssen fürs nächste Jahr nachlegen.

6. LinusTechTips_Team (3-4-9-8-7) – Vorjahr: #10
Bei der dritten Teilnahme wieder gesteigert und dazu noch Bronze bei Marathon. Ein erfolgreicher Pentathlon auf der ganzen Linie. Die Konzentration wurde wohl auf den Speer und den Marathon gelegt. Beim Marathon reichte es sogar fast für Silber, beim Speer hat man dagegen das Optimum rausgeholt, auch wenn es nicht für eine Medaille reichte.

7. Dutch Power Cows (1-10-13-13-9) – Vorjahr: --
Der Sieg beim Marathon war deutlich und verdient, aber in den anderen Disziplinen fehlte dann doch die Flexibilität, diese Kraft rechtzeitig zu verlagern. Hier wurde eine deutlich bessere Platzierung in der Gesamtwertung verschenkt. In den Geschichtsbüchern wird aber der Sieg beim Marathon stehen und das gleich bei der ersten Teilnahme am Pentathlon überhaupt. Fürs nächste Jahr ist aber Potential nach oben.

8. L'Alliance Francophone (4-9-6-10-10) – Vorjahr: #9
Seit 2016 geht AF immer auf #8 oder #9 durchs Ziel. Man könnte eine Uhr danach stellen... Stabil tuckerte die Allianz durch den Pentathlon. Die starke Performance beim Marathon hat aber wohl Kraft bei den anderen Disziplinen gekostet. Auch beim Stadtlauf war man gut unterwegs. Beim Sprint wäre durchaus mehr drin gewesen. Mit einer etwas mutigeren Taktik ist sicher in der Zukunft wieder mehr drin.

9. Rechenkraft.net (11-7-7-7-7) – Vorjahr: #7
Etwas schlechter unterwegs als im Vorjahr, aber dennoch liegt ein guter Pentathlon hinter den Rechenkraftlern. Dabei wäre #7 durchaus drin gewesen, viel hat nicht gefehlt. Beim Marathon waren es zu viele Punkte, die sie liegenließen, und ein Top-Resultat, wie im Vorjahr mit Bronze beim Sprint, gab es dieses Jahr nicht.

10. [H]ard|OCP (12-8-8-5-6) – Vorjahr: #4
Ohne Medaille bleib [H]ard|OCP in diesem Jahr. Beim Querfeldein wurde zwar das beste Ergebnis eingefahren, wie letztes Jahr, aber ein schwacher Marathon verhagelte die Bilanz. Punktgleich mit Rechenkraft.net und wenig Rückstand auf #7 wird das Potential aufgezeigt, welches noch in diesem Team schlummert.

11. Ukraine (8-14-12-15-11) – Vorjahr: #19
2011 war die Ukraine einmal in den Top 10. Dafür hat es dieses Jahr noch nicht ganz gereicht, doch bleibt es die besten Platzierung seit 2015. Dieser Aufwärtstrend könnte gern so weitergehen. Das Fundament gossen sie beim Marathon, mit dem besten Einzelergebnis der Geschichte. Leider hatten sie Probleme beim Querfeldein und mit dem Speer. Dennoch ist der Rückstand auf die Top10 schon erheblich und fürs nächste Jahr eine echte Herausforderung.

12. Overclock.net (17-11-10-9-17) - Vorjahr: #11
Muss ich mich um Overclock.net sorgen? Seit 2017 wird man in der Tabelle nach hinten gereicht. Vor allem der Marathon und der Sprint kosteten massiv Punkte, das konnte man auch beim Querfeldein nicht aufholen. Hoffentlich können sie im nächsten Jahr wieder stärker an 2017 anknüpfen, wo sie das Querfeldein sogar gewinnen konnten.

13. BOINC@AUSTRALIA (14-12-11-16-19) - Vorjahr: #15
Den zweitbesten Pentathlon legten die Australier hin, also ein gutes Ergebnis. Der Sprint nahm ihnen aber auch die Chance, weiter nach vorn zu kommen, und auch beim Querfeldein ließen sie Punkte liegen. Das Mittelfeld ist eng, da werden solche Unachtsamkeiten gnadenlos bestraft. Dass sie taktisch durchaus ernst zu nehmen sind, zeigt der Speer. Das lässt aufs nächste Jahr hoffen.

14. BOINC.Italy (13-17-15-17-12) – Vorjahr: #13
Solide unterwegs waren die Jungs und Mädels aus Italien. Wie auch in den letzten Jahren waren der Sprint und der Marathon die Leibspeise. Hier fuhren sie die besten Ergebnisse ein. Mit etwas Training beim Querfeldein und etwas mehr taktischem Geschick beim Speer lässt sich das nächste Jahr gut angehen.

15. BOINC@MIXI (21-13-19-11-16) - Vorjahr: #16
Den besten Pentathlon seit 2010 kann BOINC@MIXI verbuchen. Beim Querfeldein konnte man die beste Einzelplatzierung seit 2010 einfahren und so wichtige Punkte sichern. Und auch beim Speer bewies man taktische Finesse. Leider kosteten der Stadtlauf und der Marathon wichtige Punkte. Alles in allem können sie sehr zufrieden sein mit der Leistung.

AMD Users, BOINC.Italy, BOINCstats, Czech National Team, L'Alliance Francophone, Meisterkühler, Planet 3DNow!, SETI.Germany und Ukraine.

SETI.Germany ist das einzige Team, das in jedem Pentathlon mindestens eine Einzelmedaille holen konnte.
Planet 3DNow! holte sich die zehnte Gesamtmedaille, doch diese ist etwas besonderes. Es ist die erste Bronzene.

17 Teams haben inzwischen schon eine Einzelmedaille erringen können.
In diesem Jahr kamen LinusTechTips_Team, TeAm AnandTech und die Dutch Power Cows dazu.

Das Team mit den meisten Einzel-Gold ist weiterhin SETI.USA (15),
die meisten Einzel-Silber hat Planet 3DNow! (21),
Einzel-Bronze SETI.Germany (11).

Über die meisten Gesamtsiege darf sich weiter Planet 3DNow! (5) freuen, vor SETI.USA (3) und SETI.Germany / The Scottish Boinc Team (je 2).
Bisher gab es nur diese 4 Gesamtsieger.
