Day 1 - 05 May 2022 - 1st Dose

Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for the first dose. Come closer, but please do not push. There is a sip of the Pentathlon elixir for everyone. Today and tomorrow it has a strong taste of Universe@Home or Obstacle Run. This means that taste, effect, and consistency may differ today and tomorrow. It will be even more sparkling the day after tomorrow, when we add more ingredients from the Javelin or NumberFields@home. But there is still some time until then.

Obstacle Run (Universe@Home) & Overall Standings
Traditionally, the Pentathlon starts on the long track on the first day. But this year, it's not just a "plain" Marathon. No, this year, the chemists have created something new in the deep cellars of the laboratories. Let's hope it is not Frankenstein...

The new obstacles can easily become a catapult for the teams if they play their cards cleverly. Since the days for the extra boost are only announced on the day itself, the teams have to be wide awake and not shoot their powder in the wrong place. Those who act cleverly will quickly be able to outsmart the competition.

There is no bonus today, but this does not stop Planet 3DNow! (P3D) from going off like a rocket. The Green Planet has taken a clear lead, followed by TeAm AnandTech (TAAT), who were P3D's main rival already last year.

Surprisingly well out of the starting blocks came SETI.Germany (SG, #3), who even managed to build a cushion on Rechenkraft.net (RKN, #4), L'Alliance Francophone (AF, #5), and Team China (TC, #6). But let's not forget that there is still a long way to go and we have not even finished a sprint distance yet.

While some gaps already seem large, do not forget, ladies and gentlemen, that the bonus days can and certainly will shake things up. In #7, Ukraine also got off to an excellent start, but is slowly coming under pressure from Czech National Team (CNT, #8). An overtaking maneuver could happen any time.

Crunching@EVGA (EVGA, #10) just had to let Meisterkuehler (#9) fly by. The ice-cooled ones have just made a fierce intermediate sprint and thus gained a place. It could get even worse for EVGA: [H]ard|OCP ([H], #11) is approaching with big steps. BOINC.Italy (#12) also started well and was even able to overtake The Scottish Boinc Team (TSBT, #13). The Scots, last year's bronze medalists, are far from their form back then. It remains to be seen whether this is tactics or weakness.

In #14, we find the AMD Users, who have to keep Team 2ch (2ch, #15) at bay. Behind them is a small gap to the UK BOINC Team (UBT, #16). The Brits are in a close fight with BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#17) and Overclock.net (OCN, #18). In #19, we find The Final Front Ear (TFFE), a newcomer to the Pentathlon. They are still trying to keep up with the trio in front of them. At least they pushed BOINCstats down to #20 and also left BOINC Synergy (#21) behind.

It is a dreamlike situation behind those teams. However, Chinese Dream (#22) has a slight advantage and can still keep Crystal Dream (#23) behind. Both are almost in step. A long duel could be in the offing here. Russia in #24, LITOMYSL (#25), and BOINC Confederation (BC, #26) complete the field.

The long track is still only a few hours old and it remains to be seen how the late starters position themselves. It will also get interesting when the first extra boost is ignited. We still do not know when and how strong. And so questions remain:

• Is P3D shooting their powder too early?
• Has TSBT run out of single malt?
• Can RKN get a sniff at some precious metal?

You see it remains exciting at the BOINC Pentathlon.

Jour 1 - 05/05/2022 - 1ère dose

Mesdames et Messieurs, l'heure de la première dose est arrivée. Approchez, approchez, mais ne poussez pas! Il y en aura pour tout le monde. Aujourd'hui et demain, l'élixir du Pentathlon a un fort goût d'Universe@Home, c.-à-d. de Course d'obstacles. Cela signifie, que le goût, les effets et la consistance peuvent changer entre aujourd'hui et demain. Ce sera encore plus surprenant après-demain, lorsque nous ajouterons d'autres ingrédients du Javelot sur NumberFields@home. Mais d'ici là nous avons encore un peu de temps.

Course d'obstacles (Universe@Home) & Classement général
Traditionnellement, le Pentathlon démarre le premier jour sur la piste longue. Mais cette année, il ne s'agit pas d'un "vil" Marathon. Non, cette année les chimistes ont créé quelque chose de nouveau au fin fond des caves du laboratoire. Espérons qu'il ne s'agira pas de Frankenstein...

Les nouveaux obstacles peuvent rapidement devenir une catapulte pour les équipes, si elles la jouent fine. Comme les journées de bonification ne sont annoncées que le jour-même, les équipes doivent être pleinement éveillées et ne doivent pas brûler leurs cartouches au mauvais moment. Les plus malines pourront rapidement jouer un tour à la concurrence.

Aujourd'hui, pas de bonus, mais cela n'empêche pas Planet 3DNow! (P3D) de partir comme une fusée. La Planète verte mène clairement le peloton, suivie par TeAm AnandTech (TAAT), qui était déjà le principal concurrent de P3D l'an passé.

À la surprise générale, SETI.Germany (SG, #3) est étonnamment bien sortie des starting-blocks, elle a même déjà acquis une belle avance sur Rechenkraft.net (RKN, #4), L'Alliance Francophone (AF, #5) et Team China (#6). N'oublions pas, cependant, que le chemin est encore long et que nous n'avons même pas encore parcouru la distance d'un sprint.

Certains écarts semblent vraiment importants, mais n'oubliez pas, Mesdames et Messieurs, que les journées bonus peuvent tout bouleverser - et qu'elles le feront sûrement. Au rang 7, l'Ukraine a également pris un excellent départ, mais Czech National Team (CNT, #8) commence à la mettre sous pression. Une manœuvre de dépassement est possible à tout moment.

Crunching@EVGA (EVGA, #10) a dû laisser passer les Meisterkuehler (#9). Les givrés viennent de faire un sacré sprint intermédiaire et ont ainsi gagné une place. Les choses pourraient encore se gâter davantage pour EVGA, car [H]ard|OCP ([H], #11) approche à grands pas. BOINC.Italy (#12) a également bien démarré et a même réussi à doubler The Scottish Boinc Team (TSBT, #13). Les Écossais, médaillés de bronze l'an dernier, sont loin de leur forme de l'époque. Reste à voir s'il s'agit d'une tactique ou d'une faiblesse.

Au rang 14, nous trouvons les AMD Users, qui doivent tenir Team 2ch (2ch, #15) à distance. Il s'ensuit un petit vide avant UK BOINC Team (UBT, #16). Les Britanniques sont au corps à corps avec BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#17) et Overclock.net (OCN, #18). Au rang 19, nous trouvons The Final Front Ear (TFFE), une bleue du Pentathlon. Pour l'heure, elle essaie de ne pas perdre le contact avec le trio devant elle. Au moins, elle a réussi à renvoyer BOINCstats au rang 20 et à laisser BOINC Synergy (#21) derrière elle.

Ce qui se passe derrière est onirique. Chinese Dream (#22) a toutefois un léger avantage et arrive encore à laisser Crystal Dream (#23) derrière elle. Toutes deux marchent quasiment au pas. Cela pourrait être annonciateur d'un long duel. Russia (#24), LITOMYSL (#25) et la BOINC Confederation (#26) ferment la marche.

La longue piste n'a encore que quelques heures et il reste à voir comment les équipes qui ont démarré en retard vont se positionner. Les choses deviendront aussi intéressantes, lorsque le premier booster sera allumé. Pour l'instant, nous ne savons pas encore quand ni de quelle puissance. Il nous reste donc des questions:

• P3D brûle-t-elle ses cartouches trop tôt?
• TSBT est-elle en panne de Single Malt?
• RKN pourra-t-elle respirer l'odeur d'une médaille?

Tag 1 - 05.05.2022 - 1. Dosis

Meine sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, es wird Zeit für die 1. Dosis. Kommen Sie ran, aber bitte nicht drängeln. Es ist für jeden etwas von dem Pentathlon-Elixier da. Heute und morgen hat es eine starke Prägung Universe@Home bzw. Hindernislauf. Das bedeutet, dass sich Geschmack, Wirkung und Konsistenz heute und morgen unterscheiden kann. Noch prickelnder wird es übermorgen, wenn wir weitere Ingredienzien hinzufügen vom Speer / NumberFields@home. Aber bis dahin ist noch etwas Zeit.

Hindernislauf (Universe@Home) & Gesamtwertung
Traditionell startet der Pentathlon am ersten Tag auf der Langstrecke. Doch dieses Jahr ist es kein "schnöder" Marathon, nein, dieses Jahr haben die Chemiker in den tiefen Kellern der Labore etwas Neues kreiert. Hoffen wir, dass es nicht Frankenstein ist...

Die neuen Hindernisse können schnell für die Teams zum Katapult werden, wenn sie clever pokern. Da die Tage für den Extraboost erst am Tag selbst verkündet werden, müssen die Teams hellwach sein und dürfen ihr Pulver nicht an der falschen Stelle verschießen. Wer da clever agiert, wird der Konkurrenz schnell ein Schnippchen schlagen können.

Für den heutigen Tag gibt es keinen Bonus, doch das hält Planet 3DNow! (P3D) nicht davon ab, abzugehen wie Schmitz' Katze. Klar führt der Grüne Planet das Feld an, gefolgt von TeAm AnandTech (TAAT), die bereits im vergangenen Jahr Hauptkonkurrent von P3D waren.

Überraschend gut aus den Blöcken gekommen ist SETI.Germany (SG, #3), die sich sogar ein angenehmes Polster auf Rechenkraft.net (RKN, #4), L'Alliance Francophone (AF, #5) sowie Team China (TC, #6) rausgelaufen haben. Vergessen wir aber nicht, der Weg ist noch lang und wir haben noch nicht einmal eine Sprintdistanz hinter uns.

Die Abstände erscheinen teilweise schon deutlich, vergessen Sie aber nicht, meine Damen und Herren, dass die Bonustage alles durcheinander wirbeln können und sicher auch werden. Auf #7 ist die Ukraine ebenfalls hervorragend gestartet, wird aber langsam vom Czech National Team (CNT, #8) unter Druck gesetzt. Hier könnte es jederzeit zu einem Überholmanöver kommen.

Crunching@EVGA (EVGA, #10) musste gerade die Meisterkuehler (#9) vorbeidüsen lassen. Die Eisgekühlten haben gerade einen heftigen Zwischenspurt hingelegt und so einen Platz gewonnen. Für EVGA könnte es noch dicker kommen. Denn [H]ard|OCP ([H], #11) nähert sich mit großen Schritten. BOINC.Italy (#12) ist ebenfalls gut gestartet, hat sogar The Scottish Boinc Team (TSBT, #13) überholen können. Die Schotten, im vergangenen Jahr noch Bronzemedaillen-Gewinner, sind weit von ihrer damaligen Form entfernt. Es bleibt abzuwarten, ob das Taktik oder Schwäche ist.

Auf #14 finden wir die AMD Users, die sich Team 2ch (2ch, #15) vom Leib halten müssen. Danach klafft eine kleine Lücke auf das UK BOINC Team (UBT, #16). Die Briten befinden sich im Nahkampf mit BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#17) und Overclock.net (OCN, #18). Auf #19 finden wir mit The Final Front Ear (TFFE) einen Neuling beim Pentathlon. Noch versucht man, an dem Trio davor dranzubleiben. Zumindest hat man BOINCstats auf #20 verwiesen und auch BOINC Synergy (#21) hinter sich gelassen.

Traumhaft geht es dahinter zu. Chinese Dream (#22) ist aber leicht im Vorteil und kann Crystal Dream (#23) noch hinter sich halten. Beide sind fast im Gleichschritt unterwegs. Hier könnte sich ein langes Duell andeuten. Russia auf #24, LITOMYSL (#25) und BOINC Confederation (BC, #26) beschließen das Feld.

Noch ist die Langstrecke nur ein paar Stunden alt und es bleibt abzuwarten, wie sich die Spätstarter positionieren. Interessant wird es auch, wenn der erste Extraboost gezündet wird. Noch wissen wir nicht, wann und wie stark. Und so bleiben Fragen zurück:

• Verschießt P3D sein Pulver zu früh?
• Ist TSBT der Single Malt ausgegangen?
• Kann RKN an Edelmetall schnuppern?

Ihr seht, es bleibt spannend beim BOINC Pentathlon.
