Day 5 - 09 May 2021 - The big headscratching

Day 5 of the Pentathlon has begun and brings us new insights, but also keeps important answers concealed from us. This is unlikely to change even during the next days. Tomorrow, the third throw of Javelin awaits us, which is not going to change the overall standings much though, because even if the teams who paused yesterday go at it fully again, the worst attempt will still be the one determining the ranking. Only the fourth attempt will clear things up somewhat.

In addition, it is still open how the teams will master the splits between City Run and Cross Country. Discipline number 4 starts in 2 days and will change everything again. But this is what lets every cruncher's heart beat faster. It briefly looked as if P3D were on a clean sweep of all competitions, but TAAT and TSBT took measures that this is not going to be as easy. And maybe we will even get an overall winner who hardly anybody had expected.

Javelin Throw (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
As mentioned, only the 4th throw will present us a more definite chart. Until then, spectators and chief strategists of the teams need to study the tableau in more detail. And this is telling us that TAAT are occupying the top with two good throws. Yesterday they strongly improved, raising the question of 3 or 4 strong throws. It could mean 4th place in the end if they bet on only one more throw. Though yesterday's attempt showed that Silver is in the cards too. But for this, yesterday's throw will have to be reproduced twice.

CNT's (#2) prospects seem to be #5, unless they attack in the next 3 attempts. SG (#3) managed in their as yet best attempt to surpass TSBT (#15). This stacks the cards in SG's favor, or coerces the Scots into a fourth strong attempt. Clearly, LTT will not be able to keep #4, but they should make it into the top 8. And this would be a superb result. P3D (#5) turned in the furthest throw so far and are therefore the frontrunner. This earlier result has but to be repeated now and I am counting on it that the green team will attempt this tomorrow.

It's a narrow contest between BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#6) and [H] (#7), at least at first glance. But [H] omitted one throw, and their so far best throw is leaving the Koalas far behind. ISWT (#8) will have to show tomorrow what really is in their might; it will be a tough call to enter the top 10 if there isn't a considerable improvement. AF (#9) and RKN (#10) have the top ten firmly in their sights too. Both teams have the potential to overtake ISWT and BOINC@AUSTRALIA. EVGA (#11), OCN (#12), and the AMD Users (#13) do not appear ready for this, unless they surprise us tomorrow.

BOINC.Italy (#14) will have it difficult too, their form is not really an edifying sight. I expect TSBT (#15) to do a lot better tomorrow, after yesterday's time off. Even though this won't affect the standings, it still will lay the foundation for a possible medal. BOINC@Poland (#16), BOINCstats (#17), and UBT (#18) too are not ranked true to their potential. But this trio will likely experience a hefty move downwards. The Ukraine (#19) rested yesterday and will certainly step up, as will Chinese Dream (#22), Meisterkühler, (#23), LITOMYSL (#24).

Tomorrow all teams will have to go for it and – as we say in Germany – drop their pants. Whether this is going to be a nice view is left to be seen.

City Run (PrimeGrid)
TAAT keep going for it as if there is no tomorrow. They are continuously increasing their lead over the pursuers, such that any spurts to catch up would have to turn out very strongly. TSBT (#2) can't follow but manage to shake off P3D (#3). It'll be neck or nothing for P3D at the City Run and later at Cross Country. They must not lose too many points here.

SG are currently only in #4, even though they should feel at home at this track. But soon there will be the Cross Country; will the Germans be stronger there? [H] (#5) and CNT (#6) are currently not able to keep up with the top. This especially holds true for RKN, whose #7 is gravely endangered, and they are about to get burned. But not to put out but to fan the fire is why AF (#8) and ISWT (#9) are hurrying up. LTT try everything to stay in the wake and perhaps still reach the Rechenkrafters and fuel the heat, but this is going to take them a while, and until then it's about #10 for them.

EVGA (#11) lost much ground behind, and this might not come to an end anytime soon. OCN (#12), BOINC.Italy (#13), UBT (#14), and maybe even BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#15) aspire to #10. They are partly gaining by a good deal, but have to keep up their effort constantly too. Otherwise it's not going to work out.

2ch (#16) cannot quite match the pace but are fast enough to cast off AMD Users (#17). Meanwhile, LITOMYSL fell through to #18 and have to be afraid of Pfalz (#19) now. Although the gap is wide, there is still much time. Behind that we are watching a four-way contest. BOINC@Poland grabbed #20 from Ukraine (#21). The latter now have to watch out for the pressuring Meisterkühlers (#22) who move out to overtake. BOINCstats appear to utilize the triple wake, they are gaining massively and soon might take the trio by surprise.

Team China are merely showing up in #24, followed by Chinese Dream (#25), Crystal Dream (#26), and Russia (#27).

Marathon (SiDock@home)
Since there is not a lot happening at the Marathon, here is just a quick look at the long track. Most teams have taken position here and are currently adjusting their resources for best possible defense. P3D continue to lead clearly ahead of the trio of TAAT (#2), TSBT (#3), and SG (#4). This explosive trio seems to prepare itself for the final battle - the calm before the storm, so to speak.

[H] ran up to #9 now and pushed RKN in #10. Now we have to wait and see if the Rechenkrafters can strike back. #15 is now occupied by 2ch who are on course for Crystal Dream (#14). There are no big changes to report at the next ranks, therefore let's go on quickly with:

Overall Standings
TAAT are in #1, and clearly at that. This is the surprising current standing. Even though Javelin Throw skews the result, the lead is nevertheless well earned, because they go for it with full force at the Marathon and City Run. P3D (#2) will probably catch up again via the Javelin, but there won't be a comfortable lead. SG in #3 are following, before CNT (#4) and TSBT (#5). The Scots will step it up at the Javelin and probably throw themselves past SG.

Next up is an illustrious society whose members are separated by but few points. LTT in #6 and [H] (#7) are best positioned. But neither ISWT (#8) nor AF (#9), RKN (#10), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11), and OCN (#12) will let themselves be impressed by that.

A mysterious miss at Javelin Throw by 2ch (#19) is taken advantage of by EVGA (#13), BOINC.Italy (#14), AMD Users (#15), Ukraine (#16), UBT (#17), and BOINC@Poland (#18) and is showing how close the contest is. Behind, Crystal Dream are stabilizing #20 and keep Meisterkühler (#21) at bay. These have to watch out, because BOINCstats (#22) and LITOMYSL (#23) are dangerously close. A highly flammable situation.

It's all about #24 between Chinese Dream (#24), Pfalz (#25), Russia (#26), and Team China (#27). The performance of the red dragon continues to puzzle, they are not truly strong in any of the disciplines. Another one of the mysteries of the Pentathlon:

- Will TAAT accomplish the sensation?
- What will the teams show tomorrow at the Javelin?
- What is keeping the red dragon grounded?

Jour 5 - 09/05/2021 - Des têtes qui fument

Le 5e jour du Pentathlon a démarré. Il nous apporte de nouveaux éléments, mais il continue à nous cacher des réponses importantes. Cela ne devrait pas changer au cours des prochains jours. Demain c'est le troisième lancer de javelot. Il ne devrait pas changer grand chose au classement général, car même si les équipes qui ont fait une pause hier s'y mettent à fond, il restera quand même le plus mauvais résultat dans les stats. La situation ne deviendra plus claire qu'avec la quatrième tentative.

De plus, il reste à voir comment les équipes réussiront à maîtriser le grand écart entre la Course Urbaine et le Cross-country. La discipline numéro 4 démarre dans 2 jours et changera à nouveau la donne. Mais cela fait battre le cœur de tous les cruncheurs. On avait brièvement l'impression que P3D pourrait passer en force, mais pour l'instant TAAT et TSBT ont veillé à ce que ce ne soit pas si simple. Et peut-être que nous aurons un vainqueur au général avec lequel personne, ou presque, ne comptait.

Quel Pentathlon!

Lancer de javelot (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
Comme déjà écrit plus haut, seul le 4e lancer nous donnera un tableau plus clair. D'ici là, les spectateurs et les stratèges en chef des équipes devront étudier le tableau avec précision. Et ce tableau nous indique que TAAT est en tête avec deux bons lancers. Elle s'est beaucoup amélioré hier et on peut se demander si elle fera 3 ou 4 puissants lancers. Au final, cela pourrait signifier rang 4 si elle ne mise plus que sur un puissant lancer. D'un autre côté, le lancer d'hier a montré que l'argent était possible. Mais pour cela, la valeur d'hier doit être confirmée deux fois.

Pour CNT (#2) cela devrait finir au rang 5, à moins qu'elle n'attaque au cours des 3 prochaines tentatives. Avec sa meilleure tentative jusqu'à présent, SG (#3) a réussi à doubler TSBT (#15). SG a donc de bonnes cartes en main et/ou oblige les Écossais à faire une quatrième puissante tentative. Il est clair que LTT ne pourra pas se maintenir au rang 4, mais elle peut entrer dans le Top8. Ce qui serait aussi un super-résultat. P3D (#5) a lancé le plus loin jusqu'à présent et est donc la favorite. Cependant, elle doit encore confirmer ce lancer et je pense que les Verts essaieront demain.

C'est serré entre BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#6) et [H] (#7) - du moins au premier coup d'œil, car [H] a fait une pause et son meilleur lancer laisse les koalas loin derrière. ISWT (#8) devra montrer demain ce qui est réellement faisable: sans nette progression ce sera juste pour le Top10. L'AF (#9) et RKN (#10) l'ont également dans leur viseur. Ces deux équipes ont le potentiel de dépasser ISWT et BOINC@AUSTRALIA. EVGA (#11), OCN (#12) et les AMD Users (#13) ne semblent pas équipées pour, à moins qu'elles nous surprennent demain.

Ce sera aussi difficile pour BOINC.Italy (#14): elle n'est vraiment pas en grande forme. Je m'attends à voir TSBT (#15) nettement plus forte après le repos d'hier. Cela ne devrait pas avoir d'effet sur le classement, mais cela posera les fondations pour une éventuelle médaille. BOINC@Poland (#16), BOINCstats (#17) et UBT (#18) ne sont pas non plus classées en fonction de leur potentiel. Je pense, en revanche, que ce trio descendra encore pas mal au classement. L'Ukraine (#19) s'est reposée hier et devrait accélérer, tout comme Chinese Dream (#22), Meisterkühler, (#23), LITOMYSL (#24).

Demain, toutes les équipes devront accoucher de leur stratégie. On verra si c'est beau à voir.

Course urbaine (PrimeGrid)
TAAT continue à courir comme s'il n'y avait pas de lendemain. Elle augmente sans cesse sont avance sur ses poursuivants. Même les sprints intermédiaires doivent vraiment être puissants désormais. TSBT (#2) n'arrive pas à suivre, mais elle arrive à semer P3D (#3). La Planète Verte joue son va-tout à la Course urbaine et plus tard au Cross-country. Elle ne doit pas perdre trop de points.

SG n'est actuellement qu'au rang 4, alors que la piste devrait convenir aux Allemands. Mais c'est vrai que le Cross-country démarre dans pas longtemps. Peut-être que les Allemands seront plus forts dans ce domaine? [H] (#5) et CNT (#6) ne sont actuellement pas capables de suivre les meneurs. Ça s'applique encore plus à RKN dont la 7e place est sérieusement en danger. Y a le feu! L'AF (#8) et ISWT (#9) ne viennent pas pour l'éteindre, mais plutôt pour l'attiser. LTT tente le tout pour le tout pour avancer sous le vent et peut-être aussi atteindre les gars et les filles de Rechenkraft et, par la même occasion, apporter sa petite contribution au feu. Mais ça durera encore un peu, d'ici là, il s'agit de garder le rang 10.

Derrière, EVGA (#11) a considérablement perdu du terrain et c'est loin d'être fini. OCN (#12), BOINC.Italy (#13), UBT (#14) voire BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#15) sont des aspirants pour le rang 10. Certaines remontent pas mal, mais elles devront continuer à le faire avec constance sinon ça ne marchera pas.

2ch (#16) n'arrive pas trop à suivre ce rythme, mais elle est assez rapide pour distancer les AMD Users (#17). Pendant ce temps, LITOMYSL est retombée au rang 18 et doit maintenant craindre Pfalz (#19). Certes, l'écart est grand, mais le temps est encore assez long. Derrière, nous observons une bataille à quatre: BOINC@Poland a piqué la 20e place à l'Ukraine (#21) qui doit faire attention aux Meisterkühler (#22) qui poussent et ont déjà mis le clignotant. Il semblerait que BOINCstats se serve de cette triple aspiration: elle remonte massivement et pourrait très bientôt prendre ce trio par surprise.

Team China se retrouve uniquement au rang 24, suivie par Chinese Dream (#25), Crystal Dream (#26) et Russia (#27).

Marathon (SiDock@home)
Comme il ne se passe pas grand chose au Marathon, je ne jetterai qu'un bref coup d'œil à la piste longue. Globalement, les équipes se sont positionnées et sont en train d'ajuster leurs forces pour défendre leur position au mieux. P3D mène encore clairement devant le trio formé par TAAT (#2), TSBT (#3) et SG (#4). Ce trio explosif semble se préparer à la bataille finale, un genre de calme avant la tempête.

[H] est remontée au rang 9 et a poussé RKN au rang 10. Reste à voir si les gars et les filles de Rechenkraft arriveront à riposter. Au rang 15 nous trouvons 2ch qui met le cap sur Crystal Dream (#14). Pas de grands changements derrière, passons donc rapidement au

Classement général
TAAT à la 1ère place, clairement. C'est le surprenant résultat intermédiaire actuel. Même si le Javelot déforme le résultat, ce leadership est amplement mérité, car elle est à fond sur le Marathon et la Course urbaine. P3D (#2) devrait pouvoir reprendre contact grâce au Javelot, mais cela ne devrait pas lui donner une avance confortable. Derrière, nous avons SG au rang 3, devant CNT (#4) et TSBT (#5). Les Écossais devraient en remettre une couche au Javelot et donc passer devant SG.

Derrière, nous trouvons une illustre communauté qui n'est pas séparée par grand chose. LTT (#6) et [H] (#7) ont les meilleurs prérequis, mais ni ISWT (#8), ni l'AF (#9), ni RKN (#10), ni BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11), ni OCN (#12) ne se laisseront impressionner.

EVGA (#13), BOINC.Italy (#14), AMD Users (#15), Ukraine (#16), UBT (#17) et BOINC@Poland (#18) profitent d'une mystérieuse erreur de lancer de javelot par 2ch (#19). Cela montre à quel point c'est serré. Derrière, Crystal Dream consolide sa 20e place et garde ainsi les Meisterkühler (#21) à distance. Ces derniers doivent faire attention, car BOINCstats (#22) et LITOMYSL (#23) sont dangereusement proches. Une situation vraiment très dangereuse.

Chinese Dream (#24), Pfalz (#25), Russia (#26) et Team China (#27) se battent pour la 24e place. La performance du Dragon rouge continue à interroger: il n'est vraiment fort dans aucune discipline. Encore un des mystères du Pentathlon:

- TAAT réussira-t-elle la sensation?
- Que montreront les équipes au Javelot demain?
- Qu'est-ce qui retient le Dragon rouge au sol?

Tag 5 - 09.05.2021 - Rauchende Köpfe

Tag 5 des Pentathlons ist angebrochen und bringt uns neue Erkenntnisse, aber hält auch weiter wichtige Antworten vor uns verborgen. Dies wird sich wohl auch in den nächsten Tagen nicht ändern. Morgen steht der dritte Wurf beim Speer an, was aber an der Gesamtwertung wenig ändern wird, denn selbst wenn die Teams, die gestern pausiert haben, wieder voll drauf gehen, es steht weiter das schlechteste Ergebnis in Stats. Erst mit dem vierten Versuch wird es etwas klarer werden.

Dazu ist noch offen, wie es den Teams gelingt, den Spagat zwischen Stadtlauf und Querfeldein zu meistern. Disziplin Nummer 4 startet in 2 Tagen und wird wieder alles ändern. Aber das lässt doch jedes Cruncherherz höher schlagen. Kurz sah es danach aus, dass P3D einen Durchmarsch hinlegen könnte, doch TAAT und TSBT haben bisher dafür gesorgt, dass es nicht so einfach wird. Und vielleicht bekommen wir einen Gesamtsieger, den wohl kaum einer auf der Rechnung hatte.

Was für ein Pentathlon!

Speerwerfen (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
Wie bereits oben geschrieben, erst der 4. Wurf wird uns eine etwas klarere Tabelle zeigen. Bis dahin müssen Zuschauer und Chefstrategen der Teams das Tableau genau studieren. Und das sagt uns, dass TAAT mit zwei guten Würfen die Spitze hält. Gestern haben sie sich stark gesteigert, sodass sich die Frage nach 3 oder 4 starken Würfen stellt. Das könnte am Ende Platz 4 bedeuten, wenn man nur noch auf einen starken Wurf setzt. Allerdings hat der gestrige Wurf gezeigt, dass auch Silber drin ist. Dafür muss man aber den gestrigen Wurf zweimal bestätigen.

Für CNT (#2) läuft es wohl auf #5 hinaus, es sei denn, sie greifen in den nächsten 3 Versuchen an. SG (#3) hat es geschafft, beim bisher besten Versuch an TSBT (#15) vorbeizugehen. Damit hat SG gute Karten und/oder zwingt die Schotten in den vierten starken Versuch. Klar, LTT wird #4 nicht halten können, aber in die Top8 kann man es schaffen. Und das wäre auch ein super Ergebnis. P3D (#5) hat den bisher weitesten Wurf hingelegt und ist damit Favorit. Diesen muss man aber noch bestätigen und ich rechne damit, dass die Grünen das morgen versuchen werden.

Knapp geht es zwischen BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#6) und [H] (#7) zu, zumindest auf den ersten Blick. Denn [H] hat ausgelassen und der bisher beste Wurf lässt die Koalas weit hinter sich. ISWT (#8) muss morgen zeigen, was wirklich geht, ohne eine deutliche Steigerung wird es knapp mit den Top10. Die haben auch AF (#9) und RKN (#10) fest im Blick. Beide Teams haben das Potenzial, ISWT und BOINC@AUSTRALIA zu überholen. EVGA (#11), OCN (#12) und die AMD Users (#13) scheinen dafür nicht gerüstet zu sein, es sei denn, sie überraschen uns morgen.

Schwer wird es auch noch BOINC.Italy (#14) haben, die Form ist nicht wirklich erhebend. TSBT (#15) erwarte ich morgen deutlich stärker nach der gestrigen Auszeit. Dies wird sich zwar nicht auf die Platzierung auswirken, doch legt es den Baustein für eine mögliche Medaille. Auch BOINC@Poland (#16), BOINCstats (#17) und UBT (#18) sind nicht gemäß ihres Potenzials platziert. Allerdings wird es wohl für das Trio noch kräftig nach hinten gehen. Die Ukraine (#19) hat gestern geruht und wird sicher zulegen, wie auch Chinese Dream (#22), Meisterkühler, (#23), LITOMYSL (#24).

Morgen müssen alle Teams die Hosen runterlassen, ob das ein schöner Anblick sein wird, wird sich zeigen.

Stadtlauf (PrimeGrid)
TAAT legt weiter los, als gäbe es kein Morgen. Sie bauen ihren Vorsprung stetig auf die Verfolger aus, sodass selbst Zwischenspurts schon sehr stark ausfallen müssen. TSBT (#2) kann nicht folgen, schafft es aber, P3D (#3) abschütteln. Für den Grünen Planeten geht es beim Stadtlauf und später beim Querfeldein um die große Wurst. Zu viele Punkte darf man hier nicht verlieren.

SG ist derzeit nur auf #4, obwohl die Strecke den Deutschen liegen sollte. Allerdings steht ja bald Querfeldein an, vielleicht sind die Deutschen da ja stärker? [H] (#5) und CNT (#6) sind derzeit nicht in der Lage der Spitze zu folgen. Das trifft besonders auf RKN zu, deren #7 gehörig in Gefahr ist. Da brennt der Baum. Nicht zum Löschen, sondern zum Anheizen kommen gerade AF (#8) und ISWT (#9). LTT versucht alles, den Windschatten zu nutzen, um vielleicht auch noch die Rechenkraftler zu erreichen und auch noch etwas zum Feuerchen beizutragen, doch das wird noch dauern und bis dahin geht es für sie um #10.

Dahinter hat EVGA (#11) kräftig an Boden verloren und dies dürfte noch kein Ende haben. OCN (#12), BOINC.Italy (#13), UBT (#14) und vielleicht sogar BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#15) sind Aspiranten auf #10. Sie holen teilweise ganz gut auf, müssen das aber auch konstant weiter tun. Sonst wird es nix.

2ch (#16) kann das Tempo nicht ganz mitgehen, ist aber schnell genug, um sich von den AMD Users (#17) abzusetzen. Derweil ist LITOMYSL auf #18 gefallen und muss nun die Pfalz (#19) fürchten. Die Lücke ist zwar groß, aber die Zeit noch lang genug. Einen Vierkampf sehen wir dahinter. BOINC@Poland hat sich #20 von der Ukraine (#21) geschnappt. Diese muss nun auf die drängenden Meisterkühler (#22) schauen, die bereits zum Überholen ansetzen. Den dreifachen Windschatten scheint BOINstats derzeit zu nutzen, sie holen massiv auf und könnten das Trio sehr bald überrumpeln.

Team China findet sich nur auf #24, gefolgt von Chinese Dream (#25), Crystal Dream (#26) und Russia (#27).

Marathon (SiDock@home)
Da sich beim Marathon nicht viel tut, wieder nur ein kurzer Blick auf die Langstrecke. Hier haben die Teams meist ihre Stellung bezogen und sind derzeit dabei, ihre Kräfte zu justieren und bestmöglich zu verteidigen. P3D führt weiter klar vor dem Trio von TAAT (#2), TSBT (#3) und SG (#4). Beim explosiven Trio scheint man sich auf die finale Schlacht vorzubereiten, die Ruhe vor dem Sturm sozusagen.

Auf #9 hat sich nun [H] gelaufen und so RKN auf #10 geschoben. Nun bleibt es abzuwarten, ob die Rechenkraftler zurückschlagen können. Auf #15 steht jetzt 2ch und nimmt Kurs auf Crystal Dream (#14). Dahinter gibt es keine weiteren großen Änderungen zu vermelden, deshalb schnell noch zur:

Gesamtwertung
TAAT auf #1 und das deutlich. Das ist der überraschende Zwischenstand derzeit. Auch wenn der Speer das Ergebnis verzerrt, ist die Führung dennoch verdient, denn beim Marathon und Stadtlauf sind sie voll dabei. P3D (#2) wird durch den Speer wohl wieder anschließen können, doch einen komfortablen Vorsprung wird es nicht geben. Dahinter folgt SG auf #3, noch vor CNT (#4) und TSBT (#5). Die Schotten werden beim Speer nachlegen und sich damit wohl an SG vorbei werfen.

Dahinter findet sich eine illustre Gemeinschaft wieder, die nicht viele Punkte trennt. LTT auf #6 und [H] (#7) haben dabei die besten Voraussetzungen. Doch davon werden sich weder ISWT (#8) noch AF (#9), RKN (#10), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) und OCN (#12) beeindrucken lassen.

Ein mysteriöser Fehlwurf beim Speer durch 2ch (#19) wird durch EVGA (#13), BOINC.Italy (#14), AMD Users (#15), Ukraine (#16), UBT (#17) und BOINC@Poland (#18) ausgenutzt und zeigt, wie eng es zugeht. Dahinter verfestigt Crystal Dream #20 und hält sich so die Meisterkühler (#21) vom Leib. Diese müssen aufpassen, denn BOINCstats (#22) und LITOMYSL (#23) sind gefährlich nah. Eine wirklich brandgefährliche Situation.

Um #24 geht es zwischen Chinese Dream (#24), Pfalz (#25), Russia (#26) und Team China (#27). Die Leistung des roten Drachen gibt weiter Rätsel auf, bei keiner Disziplin ist man wirklich stark. Auch wieder eines der Mysterien des Pentathlon:

- Gelingt TAAT die Sensation?
- Was zeigen die Teams morgen beim Speer?

Day 4 - 08 May 2021 - All is new in May?

After I dashed over the Teutonic Autobahn and moved my 4-wheeler in a not particularly species-appropriate way, I am back at last to review the day. And that one is thrilling, surprising, and confusing so far. The second throw at Javelin is thoroughly jumbling up the scoreboards, because those who had a good first through might skip the second and would drop massively in the ranking. But today's throw will bring us at least a few insights into the capabilities of the teams.

On top of that, the City Run at the PrimeGrid course starts. The first day on this course is usually characterized by a fast start, which we can already witness. And this course allows to shock the opponents by switching from jogging to spurt. But one after another. I'll start with a brief overview of the Marathon.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
P3D keep speeding as if they were on the run. It's a hell of a pace, double of that of the pursuers. After them, TAAT are increasingly getting under pressure and should become concerned about their Silver rank. And not just because TSBT (#3) who overtook SG (#4).

The blue-yellow team have to take care that the Scots don't hurry away too far, but on the other hand they are steadily catching up with TAAT. And thus, chances of precious metal are still quite good for the Germans. LTT (#5) and ISWT (#6) are securing their rankings, because AF (#7) are simply not fast enough at the moment. The francophone rooster apparently needs some concentrate feed.

CNT (#8) are not showing signs of an impending attack, whereas [H] conquered #9, displacing RKN onto #10. The lead of the Czechs seems comfortable but is not going to suffice at the current pace and loss of time to [H]. A tussle for #14 keeps going on. Crystal Dream try to shake off the pursuers, but this seems to be a really taxing job now. The AMD Users (#15) and BOINC.Italy (#16) are staying in the wake but are now under pressure from 2ch (#17). It seems the Japanese put some decent sake fuel in the tanks and are stepping on it. This could lift them up by 3 or 4 ranks.

Who is the cooler one in the end? BOINC@Poland (#18) or Meisterkühler (#19)? It's a close race between the two, drenching the runners in sweat. And please don't forget EVGA (#20), almost unnoticed they are sneaking up on Meisterkühler.

Javelin Throw (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
We are witnessing a lively chaos in the Javelin chart now, because the worse of the two throws is which counts for points today. This is showing with P3D who are skipping the throw today and turn up at #7 all of a sudden. Other teams are doing the same, and therefore one has to look closer.

TAAT put themselves in #1. Their second throw will probably be similar to their first. But this way they are also showing their javelin fitness early. When I look at the competitors, it will be a close fight for a medal. CNT seem to pursue a similar tactic. But the Czechs are not good enough to reach podium ranks. This is different with SG (#3). They are showing their potential today, and it could bring them Silver in the end.

LTT (#4) improved today significantly whereas 2ch (#5) throw weaker today. Behind, ISWT (#6) improved somewhat. We will probably only know at the next attempt what the real power reserves are. P3D (#7) will certainly not end up as the seventh dwarf, while it will be a challenge for BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#8) to get into the top ten. Afterwards we find EVGA in #11 who are profiting for now from [H]'s (#12) and RKN's (#13) skipping today.

Likewise behind: OCN (#14) and Team China (#15) can rest assured that TSBT (#16) will fly past yet. The Scots pass this one on, but the first throw suggests a neck-and-neck race with SG. Today's result of the Germans could already decide Silver.

What else is there? AMD Users (#17), Ukraine (#22), Chinese Dream (#24), LITOMYSL (#25), and Meisterkühler (#26) are taking a day off too, apparently. They showed potential at the first throw, which means that these teams may – and will – improve notably.

City Run (PrimeGrid)
TSBT took the lead at the traditional City Run, but P3D follow by just a hair. TAAT are going strong again, now in #3 and putting SG in #4. But the distance is still very close here too.

[H] have a notable deficit here already, #5 now. But since their pursuers had to let go, the run is currently relaxed for [H]. But this may change, because a strong spurt from CNT (#6) is always in the cards. The same has not been a specialty of RKN (#7) before, but does not appear necessary either. Their pace is good and the advantage over AF (#8), EVGA (#9), LTT (#10) seems big enough to keep control of the ranking for now.

OCN need to fear for #11, as ISWT (#12) and BOINC.Italy (#13) decided to open up the throttle and are approaching. It's neck and neck for UBT (#14) and BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#15). Next, 2ch made themselves comfortable in #16 for now, because neither LITOMYSL (#17) nor AMD Users (#18) appear to pose a threat at this time.

Ukraine (#19) and Meisterkühler (#20) are concluding the top twenty. What are my bewildered eyes seeing there? The Pfalz (#21) left the comfort of the wine cellar and looks like converting alcohol to propulsion now. And perhaps there is still more. BOINC@Poland (#22), Team China (#23), BOINCstats (#24), Chinese Dream (#25), Crystal Dream (#26) and Russia are concluding the field.

Overall Standings
The second Javelin Throw attempt thoroughly mixed up the overall standings as well. Their significance is therefore rather limited, but that's what it is now. And it absolutely is fun to look at. The next javelins want to be thrown after all.

TAAT suddenly find themselves in #1 and are profiting from the effects of the Javelin Throw. P3D (#2) will certainly regain points yet, which is possible but not definite with SG (#3). TSBT are currently merely in #4, followed by CNT (#5), LTT (#6), and ISWT (#7). There is potential in [H] (#8) and AF (#9) too, whereas RKN (#10) rather have to prepare for losses at Javelin. Which does not necessarily mean a loss of 10th place.

This depends on BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11), EVGA (#12), OCN (#13), 2ch (#14), and maybe on BOINC.Italy (#15) too. AMD Users (#16) and Ukraine (#17) will surely improve yet too, but if it will suffice for top ten remains to be seen.

UBT (#18) and BOINC@Poland (#19) profited from this day, followed by Crystal Dream (#20) and Team China (#21), whereas Meisterkühler (#22) and LITOMYSL (#23) took a heavy hit due to the Javelin. This is surely going to be corrected eventually. BOINCstats (#24), Chinese Dream (#25), Russia (#26), and Pfalz (#27) are forming the end of the field. Even though the Palatines are stepping on it at the City Run, they are not able to get rid of the red nose, errm red taillight.

My head is spinning. So many changes today, and they will accompany us for another few days. And thus it is really challenging for the tacticians in the teams to make sense of the opponents. Nice for us and for the suspense.

A situation which is provoking infinite questions:

- Can SG one-up TSBT at Javelin Throw?
- Can P3D take the lead at City Run?
- Can TAAT stay in #2 at Marathon?

Jour 4 - 08/05/2021 - Mai, mois du renouveau?

Après avoir tracé avec mon 4x4 sur l'autoroute teutonne aujourd'hui et donc ne pas l'avoir forcément fait bouger sur son terrain favori, je suis enfin là pour vous donner le synoptique de la journée. Et il s'avère captivant, surprenant et confus. Le deuxième lancer de javelot brouille drôlement le tableau, car ceux qui ont fait un bon premier lancer pourraient sauter celui-ci, au risque de perdre massivement du terrain au classement. Au moins, le lancer d'aujourd'hui nous donnera quelques éléments à propos de la productivité des équipes.

C'est aussi le départ de la Course urbaine sur la piste de PrimeGrid. Habituellement, c'est un départ rapide qui a la part belle sur cette piste, ce que nous pouvons déjà observer. Et bien sûr, la piste permet de surprendre les adversaires par de puissants sprints intermédiaires. Mais procédons par ordre. Je vais commencer par un bref aperçu du Marathon.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
P3D continue à foncer comme si elle était en fuite. Leur vitesse est infernale: le double de ses poursuivants. Derrière, TAAT est de plus en plus sous pression et doit commencer à s'inquiéter pour sa médaille d'argent. Et ce n'est pas seulement la faute de TSBT (#3) qui a doublé SG (#4).

Les Bleu et Jaune doivent, certes, faire attention à ne pas laisser filer les Écossais trop loin, mais ils remontent aussi continuellement sur TAAT. Les chances de décrocher une médaille ne sont donc pas trop mauvaises pour les Allemands. LTT (#5) et ISWT (#6) assurent leurs places, car l'AF (#7) n'est tout simplement pas assez rapide. On dirait que le coq francophone a besoin de plus de nourriture pour l'endurance.

Chez CNT (#8) les signes ne sont pas à l'attaque, alors que [H] a conquis le rang 9 et donc repoussé RKN au rang 10. L'avance des Tchèques semble confortable, mais avec la vitesse actuelle et la perte de temps par rapport à [H] cela ne suffira pas. On continue à se battre pour le rang 14. Crystal Dream tente de se détacher de ses poursuivants, mais ça semble vraiment laborieux pour l'instant. Les AMD Users (#15) et BOINC.Italy (#16) restent dans son sillage, mais sont désormais mises sous pression par 2ch (#17). Les Japonais semblent avoir fait un sacré plein de saké et accélèrent. Cela pourrait les propulser encore 3 à 4 places plus loin.

Qui sera plus cool à la fin: BOINC@Poland (#18) ou les Meisterkühler (#19)? C'est une course serrée entre ces deux, une course qui fait perler beaucoup de sueur sur le front des coureurs. Et n'oublions pas EVGA (#20) qui s'approche subrepticement des Meisterkühler.

Lancer de javelot (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
Au javelot nous assistons à un joyeux chaos dans le tableau, car aujourd'hui c'est le plus mauvais résultat des deux lancers qui entre en ligne de compte pour les points. Cela se voit chez P3D, qui fait l'impasse sur le lancer d'aujourd'hui et se retrouve soudain au rang 7. D'autres équipes font pareil et il faut donc y regarder d'un peu plus près.

TAAT a pris la première place. Son deuxième lancer devrait être assez identique au premier. Mais elle dévoile ainsi de bonne heure sa forme. Quand je regarde la concurrence, la bataille pour une médaille sera rude. CNT (#2) semble avoir une tactique similaire. Mais les Tchèques ne sont pas assez bons pour arriver dans les rangs médaillés. C'est différent pour SG (#3): elle montre son potentiel aujourd'hui et cela pourrait lui rapporter l'argent au final.

LTT (#4) s'améliore nettement aujourd'hui, alors que 2ch (#5) est plus faible. Derrière, ISWT (#6) s'améliore un peu. Nous ne saurons probablement qu'au prochain lancer quelles sont ses réelles réserves. P3D (#7) ne restera sûrement pas le 7e nain à la fin et pour BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#8) ce sera un défi d'arriver dans le Top10. Derrière, nous retrouvons EVGA au rang 11. Elle profite du fait que [H] (#12) et RKN (#13) font l'impasse sur la journée.

C'est à peu près pareil derrière: OCN (#14) et Team China (#15) peuvent être sûres que TSBT (#16) leur passera devant. Les Écossais font l'impasse sur le lancer d'aujourd'hui, mais leur premier lancer laisse présager un coude à coude avec SG. Le résultat d'aujourd'hui des Allemands pourrait déjà décider de la médaille d'argent.

Qu'avons-nous encore? On dirait que les AMD Users (#17), Ukraine (#22), Chinese Dream (#24), LITOMYSL (#25) et les Meisterkühler (#26) passent aussi une journée tranquille. Elles ont montré leur potentiel lors du premier lancer et cela signifie que ces équipes pourront et vont nettement s'améliorer.

Course urbaine (PrimeGrid)
Lors de la traditionnelle Course urbaine, TSBT a pris la tête, mais P3D ne se trouve qu'à un battement de cil. TAAT est à nouveau en très bon chemin: elle est remontée au rang 3 et a ainsi repoussé SG au rang 4. Mais là aussi les écarts sont très serrés.

[H] a déjà un net retard, actuellement rang 5. Comme ses poursuivants ont aussi dû laisser courir, [H] peut encore avancer de manière détendue. Mais ça peut changer, car CNT (#6) est toujours bonne pour un puissant sprint intermédiaire. Ça n'a pas été la spécialité de RKN (#7) jusqu'à présent, mais ce n'est pas nécessaire non plus: sa vitesse est bonne et son avance sur l'AF (#8), EVGA (#9), LTT (#10) est assez grande pour pouvoir contrôler son classement pour l'instant.

Derrière, OCN doit craindre pour sa 11e place, car ISWT (#12) et BOINC.Italy (#13) ont décidé d'accélérer et approchent à grands pas. UBT (#14) et BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#15) sont à touche touche. Derrière, 2ch s'est installée confortablement au rang 16 car aucun danger ne semble actuellement émaner de LITOMYSL (#17) ou des AMD Users (#18).

Ukraine (#19) et les Meisterkühler (#20) ferment le Top20. Mais que voient mes yeux ébahis? Pfalz (#21) a quitté la convivialité de la cave à vin et semble désormais transformer l'alcool en propulsion. Peut-être qu'elle est encore capable de plus. BOINC@Poland (#22), Team China (#23), BOINCstats (#24), Chinese Dream (#25), Crystal Dream (#26) et Russia ferment la marche.

Classement général
Le deuxième lancer de javelot a aussi bien secoué le classement général. La pertinence est donc un peu limitée, mais c'est l'état actuel et c'est assez plaisant de le contempler. Et il restera encore les autres javelots à lancer.

TAAT se retrouve soudain au 1er rang et profite des effets du lancer de javelot. P3D (#2) récupérera sûrement encore des points, ce qui est possible pour SG (#3), mais pas sûr. TSBT se retrouve actuellement seulement au rang 4, suivie par CNT (#5), LTT (#6) et ISWT (#7). [H] (#8) et l'AF (#9) ont encore du potentiel, tandis que RKN (#10) devra probablement se préparer à des pertes au javelot. Mais cela ne veut pas dire que la 10e place sera forcément perdue.

Cela dépendra aussi de BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11), EVGA (#12), OCN (#13), 2ch (#14) et peut-être même de BOINC.Italy (#15). Les AMD Users (#16) et Ukraine (#17) vont sûrement s'améliorer aussi, mais il reste à voir si ça suffira pour le Top10.

Les équipes qui ont profité de cette journée sont UBT (#18) et BOINC@Poland (#19), suivies par Crystal Dream (#20) et Team China (#21). En revanche, les Meisterkühler (#22) et LITOMYSL (#23) ont laissé beaucoup de plumes à cause du javelot. Il y aura sûrement un ajustement vers le haut. BOINCstats (#24), Chinese Dream (#25), Russia (#26) et Pfalz (#27) ferment la marche. Bien que les Palatins accélèrent drôlement à la Course urbaine, cela ne suffit pas à se débarrasser du nez, euh de la lanterne rouge.

J'ai la tête qui bourdonne. Beaucoup de changements aujourd'hui - et ils vont nous accompagner encore quelques jours. Même pour les tacticiens des différentes équipes, c'est un réel défi d'évaluer les adversaires. C'est bon pour nous et pour le suspense.

Une situation qui soulève des tas de questions:

- SG pourra-t-elle dépasser TSBT au Javelot?
- P3D pourra-t-elle prendre la tête à la Course urbaine?
- TAAT pourra-t-elle se maintenir à la 2e place au Marathon?

Tag 4 - 08.05.2021 - Alles neu macht der Mai?

Nachdem ich über die teutonische Autobahn gedüst bin und meinen 4Wheeler nicht unbedingt artgerecht bewegt habe, bin ich endlich da, um den Überblick des Tages zu geben. Und dieser ist bisher spannend, überraschend und unübersichtlich. Der zweite Wurf beim Speer bringt die Tabelle gehörig durcheinander, denn wer einen guten ersten Wurf hatte, könnte diesen Wurf auslassen, würde aber massiv Boden in der Wertung verlieren. Aber der heutige Wurf wird uns zumindest ein paar Erkenntnisse über die Leistungsfähigkeit der Teams bringen.

Dazu startet der Stadtlauf auf der Strecke von PrimeGrid. Auf dieser Strecke steht am ersten Tag gewöhnlich der schnelle Start im Vordergrund, was wir bereits beobachten können. Und natürlich gibt es die Stecke her, dass mit Zwischenspurts kräftig die Gegner geschockt werden können. Aber der Reihe nach. Ich fange mal mit einem kurzen Überblick beim Marathon an.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
P3D legt weiter ein Tempo vor, als wären sie auf der Flucht. Das Tempo ist höllisch, doppelt so flott wie die Verfolger. Dahinter kommt TAAT verstärkt unter Druck und muss langsam, aber sicher um den Silberrang bangen. Das liegt nicht nur an TSBT (#3), die an SG (#4) vorbeigegangen sind.

Die blaugelben müssen zwar aufpassen, dass die Schotten nicht zu weit enteilen, holen aber auch auf TAAT stetig auf. Und so stehen die Chancen für die Deutschen weiter ganz gut auf Edelmetall. LTT (#5) und ISWT (#6) sichern ihre Plätze ab, denn AF (#7) ist derzeit einfach nicht schnell genug. Der francophone Hahn braucht wohl etwas mehr Ausdauerfutter.

Bei CNT (#8) stehen die Zeichen nicht auf Attacke, wogegen [H] #9 erkämpft und damit RKN auf #10 verdrängt hat. Der Vorsprung der Tschechen scheint komfortabel, aber beim derzeitigen Tempo und Zeitverlust auf [H] wird es nicht reichen. Gerangelt wird weiter um #14. Crystal Dream versucht, sich von den Verfolgern zu lösen, aber das scheint derzeit echt mühsam zu sein. Die AMD Users (#15) und BOINC.Italy (#16) bleiben im Windschatten, werden aber jetzt zusätzlich von 2ch (#17) unter Druck gesetzt. Die Japaner scheinen ordentlich Sake-Treibstoff getankt zu haben und geben Gas. Das könnte sie noch 3 bis 4 Plätze nach vorne bringen.

Wer ist am ende Cooler? BOINC@Poland (#18) oder die Meisterkühler (#19). Ein enges Rennen zwischen den beiden, das den Läufern heftig die Schweißperlen auf die Stirn treibt. Und bitte vergessen Sie EVGA (#20) nicht, fast unbemerkt schleichen sie sich an die Meisterkühler heran.

Speerwerfen (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
Beim Speer erleben wir jetzt ein munteres Chaos in der Tabelle, denn in die Punktewertung fließt heute das schlechtere Ergebnis der beiden Würfe ein. Dies zeigt sich bei P3D, die heute den Wurf auslassen und sich plötzlich auf #7 wiederfinden. Dies machen auch andere Teams und so muss man schon genauer hinschauen.

TAAT hat sich auf #1 gesetzt. Ihr zweiter Wurf dürfte nicht viel anders als Nr. 1 werden. Damit zeigen sie aber auch früh ihre Form. Wenn ich mir die Konkurrenz anschaue, wird es ein enger Kampf um eine Medaille. Eine ähnliche Taktik scheint CNT (#2) zu haben. Die Tschechen sind aber nicht gut genug, um damit in die Medaillenränge zu kommen. Dies sieht bei SG (#3) anders aus. Sie zeigen heute ihr Potential und das könnte ihnen am Ende Silber bringen.

LTT (#4) steigert sich heute deutlich, wogegen 2ch (#5) schwächer unterwegs ist. Dahinter steigert sich ISWT (#6) etwas. Hier werden wir wohl erst beim nächsten Versuch wissen, wie die wahren Kräftereserven sind. P3D (#7) wird am Ende sicher nicht der 7. Zwerg sein und für BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#8) wird es eine Herausforderung, in die Top10 zu kommen. Dahinter findet sich EVGA auf #11 wieder und profitiert noch davon, dass [H] (#12) und RKN (#13) heute auslassen.

Ähnliches auch dahinter. OCN (#14) und Team China (#15) können sicher sein, dass TSBT (#16) noch vorbeifliegen wird. Die Schotten lassen heute aus, doch der erste Wurf lässt auf ein Kopf-an-Kopf-Rennen mit SG schließen. Das Ergebnis der Deutschen heute könnte bereits über Silber entscheiden.

Was gibt es dahinter noch? Einen ruhigen Tag heute machen sich wohl auch AMD Users (#17), Ukraine (#22), Chinese Dream (#24), LITOMYSL (#25) und die Meisterkühler (#26). Sie haben hier Potential beim ersten Wurf gezeigt und dies bedeutet, dass diese Teams sich wohl deutlich verbessern können und werden.

Stadtlauf (PrimeGrid)
Beim traditionellen Stadtlauf hat sich TSBT an die Spitze gesetzt, doch nur einen Wimpernschlag dahinter ist P3D dran. Wieder sehr gut unterwegs ist TAAT, die sich derzeit auf #3 rennen und SG damit auf #4 verweisen. Aber auch hier sind die Abstände noch sehr eng.

[H] hat dahinter schon einen deutlichen Rückstand, #5 derzeit. Da die Verfolger dahinter auch abreißen lassen mussten, ist der Lauf für [H] derzeit noch entspannt. Doch das kann sich ändern, denn CNT (#6) ist immer ein kräftiger Zwischenspurt zuzutrauen. Dergleichen ist bisher nicht die Spezialität von RKN (#7) gewesen, doch das scheint auch nicht nötig. Das Tempo ist gut und der Vorsprung auf AF (#8), EVGA (#9) und LTT (#10) groß genug, um die Platzierung vorerst kontrollieren zu können.

Dahinter muss OCN um #11 bangen, denn ISWT (#12) und BOINC.Italy (#13) haben sich entschieden Gas zu geben und kommen näher. Haut an Haut geht es an zwischen UBT (#14) und BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#15) zu. Dahinter hat es sich 2ch erstmal auf #16 gemütlich gemacht, denn weder von LITOMYSL (#17) noch von AMD Users (#18) scheint derzeit Gefahr zu drohen.

Ukraine (#19) und die Meisterkühler (#20) beschließen die Top20. Was sehen da meine verwunderten Augen? Die Pfalz (#21) hat die Gemütlichkeit des Weinkellers verlassen und scheint Alkohol jetzt in Vortrieb umzusetzen. Und vielleicht ist ja noch mehr drin. BOINC@Poland (#22), Team China (#23), BOINCstats (#24), Chinese Dream (#25), Crystal Dream (#26) und Russia beschließen das aktuelle Feld.

Gesamtwertung
Durch den zweiten Speerwurfversuch hat es auch die Gesamtwertung kräftig durcheinander gewirbelt. Die Aussagekraft ist daher etwas beschränkt, doch dies ist nun Mal der aktuelle Stand. Und es macht durchaus Spaß, diesen anzuschauen. Auch müssen die weiteren Speere nun mal auch noch geworfen werden.

TAAT findet sich plötzlich auf #1 wieder und profitiert von den Auswirkungen des Speerwerfens. P3D (#2) wird sicher noch Punkte gutmachen, was bei SG (#3) möglich, aber nicht sicher ist. TSBT ist derzeit nur auf #4, gefolgt von CNT (#5), LTT (#6) und ISWT (#7). Potenzial haben auch noch [H] (#8) und AF (#9), wogegen RKN (#10) sich eher noch auf Verluste beim Speer einstellen muss. Was aber nicht heißen muss, dass der 10. Platz verloren geht.

Das hängt noch von BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11), EVGA (#12), OCN (#13), 2ch (#14) und vielleicht auch von BOINC.Italy (#15 ) ab. Die AMD Users (#16) und die Ukraine (#17) werden sich bestimmt auch noch verbessern, aber ob das für die Top10 reicht, wird sich zeigen.

Profitiert vom heutigen Tag haben UBT (#18) und BOINC@Poland (#19), gefolgt von Crystal Dream (#20) und Team China (#21). Dagegen haben die Meisterkühler (#22) und LITOMYSL (#23) auf Grund des Speers kräftig Federn gelassen. Hier wird es wohl auch noch eine Anpassung nach oben geben. Am Ende beschließen BOINCstats (#24), Chinese Dream (#25), Russia (#26) und die Pfalz (#27) das Feld. Obwohl die Pfälzer beim Stadtlauf kräftig Gas geben, reicht es nicht die rote Nase, äh, Laterne loszuwerden.

Mir schwirrt der Kopf. Viele Veränderungen heute und dies wird uns noch ein paar Tage begleiten. So ist es auch für Taktiker in den Teams eine echte Herausforderung, die Gegner einzuschätzen. Schön für uns und die Spannung.

Eine Situation, die unendlich Fragen provoziert:

- Kann SG beim Speer TSBT übertrumpfen?
- Kann P3D beim Stadtlauf die Spitze übernehmen?
- Kann TAAT #2 beim Marathon halten?

Day 3 - 07 May 2021 - It's so calm around here...

Today is a day to take a breath and enjoy the quiet. OK, this is going to work only if you ignore the roaring of the cooling fans, or go for a step outside for once. But who wants that? Outside it's either too warm or too cold, there are pollen everywhere, and various creatures – little ones and big ones, sometimes with, sometimes without mask. Well, hooray for the Pentathlon - it is keeping us fresh and alert without having to move even by one millimeter. OK, some physical exercise is always good, the German beer, French champagne, or Scottish single malt must not get stale and need to be emptied.

Javelin Throw (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
The first throw is done. But taking a rest is out of the question because the next one is scheduled for tomorrow. Most teams will show their true capability tomorrow at the latest. Although it is possible to defer participation in this contest until Monday, it would be very, very risky.

For now, P3D took hold of the best starting position. The lead is significant and a real challenge for TSBT (#2) and TAAT (#3). Especially the Scots were able to show their potential towards the end, and perhaps their aspiration to more. [H] are currently in #4 but it will get tough to improve or even to hold on to this rank. RKN (#5) may not be the main challenger, but rather CNT (#6) and SG (#7). Both teams probably still have a few long javelins in reserve.

2ch are securing #8 for now, ahead of AF (#9) and Chinese Dream (#10). The Chinese speared themselves a great starting point and created a headache for LITOMYSL (#11), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#12) and LTT (#13). In theory, each of the follow-up teams may still make a far leap ahead. Tomorrow we may see more. The AMD Users (#14) threw only a little further than Ukraine (#15). And what ISWT (#16) are capable of still remains in the dark.

Meisterkühler in #17 and behind them OCN (#18) are not far away, and actually EVGA (#19) and Team China (#20) are still in the race too. BOINC.Italy are merely found in #21. The Italians are not moving very fast in the Marathon either; is this hinting at a hidden strategy? We have formerly seen BOINC@Poland (#22) further in front too, let's see if they are playing poker here as well. BOINCstats (#23), UBT (#24), Crystal Dream (#25), Russia (#26), and Pfalz (#27) however need to step up their game considerably.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
P3D continue to lead the field on the long distance track. The Green Planet seems to have signed up for especially fast green electricity, perhaps atomic power, otherwise the output wouldn't be as stable. There are no signs of any brownout in their stats. TAAT are still holding #2 but lost some speed. In regard to their current pace, TAAT, SG (#3) and TSBT (#4) are almost on equal footing. The course is still long and the distances between the teams not too large. The fight for Silver and Bronze has fully heated up now.

Meanwhile LTT are securing #5, because neither ISWT (#6), AF (#7), nor CNT (#8) are able to follow but are mostly occupied with themselves. Especially the battle between the Alliance and the Czechs is going to delight our cruncher's heart. Perhaps [H] (#10) will manage to catch up yet. The gap is small and they have almost caught up with RKN (#9), so anything is possible. This would also be applicable to BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) but the pace of the kangaroos is too slow for that.

Attention should rather be paid to Ukraine (#12), who are keeping up at least. To their advantage they are not pressed hard from behind, because neither OCN (#13), Crystal Dream (#14), BOINC.Italy (#15), nor AMD Users (#16) are fast enough. Crystal Dream accelerated though and advanced in the ranking.

Place 17 is currently booked for 2ch, followed by the Meisterkühlers who need to take care of BOINC@Poland (#19). The cool ones are presumably prioritizing the other disciplines but have to take care not to lose too much ground at the marathon. EVGA are stepping up their pace and reached #20 now. Chinese Dream (#21) and LITOMYSL (#22) do not appear to want to match the pace and are thereby drifting into the crosshairs of UBT (#23). BOINCstats (#24), Team China (#25), Russia (#26), and Pfalz (#27) are following.

Overall standings
P3D are still rushing ahead in the overall standings, but this could look differently already tomorrow. TAAT lost some points and are narrowly holding #2. TSBT placed in #3 now and relegated SG to #4 thanks to a good Javelin. SG appear to operate in no man's land now, but I am still expecting something from Javelin, and then the world will look smaller once again.

At the next ranks, is there a four- or five-cornered or even larger fight happening? [H] in #5 only hold a small advantage over RKN and CNT (both #6), and AF (#8) and LTT (#9) are not far away either. Behind, ISWT (#10) and BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) are lying in ambush and are waiting for the others to blunder. The dozen is complete with 2ch, followed by Ukraine in #13. The proverbial sheet of paper is hardly fitting between AMD Users (#14), OCN (#15), and Chinese Dream (#16), and LITOMYSL (#17) may yet meet up with this illustrious troupe too.

To accomplish the same, Meisterkühler (#18) and BOINC.Italy (#19) would need to stretch mightily. We may believe in more coming from these teams than they are currently showing. Next, Crystal Dream are holding #20, just narrowly ahead of EVGA. BOINC@Poland (#22) and Team China (#23) are following and leave UBT (#24) and BOINCstats (#24) behind. Russia (#26) and Pfalz (#27) are concluding the field.

The second Javelin Throw and the start of City Run should rearrange tomorrow's overall standings a lot. SG will pin their hope on tomorrow, whereas fears of a drought are worrying the green Planet. Let's see which questions can be answered tomorrow:

- Can SG win at the City Run?
- May TAAT hold #2 at the Marathon?
- Will CNT attack at Javelin Throw?

You see it remains exciting at the BOINC Pentathlon.

Jour 3 - 07/05/2021 - Quel calme...

Aujourd'hui vous pouvez respirer et savourer le calme. Bon OK, ça ne marche que si vous n'écoutez pas le vrombissement des ventilateurs ou que vous sortez un moment. Mais qui a envie de ça? Dehors il fait soit trop chaud, soit trop froid, il y a du pollen partout ainsi que des grandes et des petites bêtes, tantôt avec, tantôt sans masque. Je préfère encore le Pentathlon: il maintient en forme et la tête en alerte, sans devoir bouger d'un seul millimètre. D'accord, il faut toujours un minimum de mouvement, après tout, la bière allemande, le champagne français et le Single Malt écossais ne doivent pas se perdre et veulent être bus.

Lancer de javelot (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
Le premier lancer est terminé, mais pas question de se reposer, car demain il faudra faire le lancer suivant. Au plus tard demain, la majorité des équipes aura montré au moins une fois ce qu'elles sont capables de faire. Certes, elles peuvent encore faire leur entrée lundi, mais c'est très très risqué.

En attendant, P3D a trouvé la meilleure position de départ: son avance est nette et un réel défi pour TSBT (#2) et TAAT (#3). Notamment les Écossais ont réussi à montrer leur potentiel à la fin et peut-être aussi leur envie de plus. [H] se trouve actuellement au rang 4 et il sera difficile de s'améliorer, voire de conserver cette place. RKN (#5) n'est peut-être pas son principal rival, ce seraient plutôt CNT (#6) et SG (#7). Ces deux équipes ont sûrement encore quelques longs lancers en réserve.

Pour l'instant, 2ch assure le rang 8, devant l'AF (#9) et Chinese Dream (#10). Les Chinois se sont préparé une superbe base de départ pour les prochaines tentatives et donnent des migraines à LITOMYSL (#11), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#12) et LTT (#13). En théorie, chaque équipe qui se trouve derrière peut encore faire un énorme bond en avant. Peut-être que nous en verrons davantage demain. Les AMD Users au rang 14 n'ont pas lancé beaucoup plus loin que l'Ukraine (#15). Et les performances éventuelles de ISWT (#16) restent toujours dans le noir.

Les Meisterkühler (#17) et derrière eux OCN (#18) ne sont pas loin et, au fond, EVGA (#19) et Team China (#20) restent aussi dans la course. BOINC.Italy se retrouve seulement au rang 21. Les Italiens ne sont pas très rapides non plus au Marathon, cela indiquerait-il une stratégie encore cachée? Nous avions déjà vu BOINC@Poland (#22) plus haut dans le classement aussi, voyons si les Polonais jouent aussi au poker. BOINCstats (#23), UBT (#24), Crystal Dream (#25), Russia (#26) et Pfalz (#27), en revanche, devront très nettement s'améliorer.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
Sur la piste longue P3D continue à mener le peloton. La Planète Verte semble avoir réservé du courant écologique particulièrement rapide, probablement du nucléaire, sinon leur production ne serait pas aussi stable. Jusqu'à présent on ne détecte qu'un horizon étale dans ses résultats. TAAT se maintient toujours au rang 2, mais elle a perdu de la vitesse. Par rapport à leur vitesse actuelle, TAAT, SG (#3) et TSBT (#4) sont presque au coude à coude. La piste est encore longue et les écarts encore gérables. La bataille pour l'argent et le bronze a donc commencé.

Pendant ce temps, LTT assure sa 5e place, car ni ISWT (#6), ni l'AF (#7), ni CNT (#8) n'arrive à suivre. Ces dernières sont plutôt occupées avec elles-mêmes. La bagarre entre l'Alliance et les Tchèques devrait encore réjouir notre cœur de cruncheur.
Peut-être que [H] (#10) arrivera encore à remonter. Son retard est faible et elle aura vite fait de rattraper RKN (#9) - tout est donc possible. Certes, c'est aussi valable pour BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11), mais le rythme des kangourous est trop lent pour ça.

On ferait mieux de diriger notre regard sur l'Ukraine (#12) qui ne lâche rien. En plus, elle a l'avantage de ne pas être mise sous pression par l'arrière, car aucune des équipes suivantes - OCN (#13), Crystal Dream (#14), BOINC.Italy (#15) ou les AMD Users (#16) - n'est assez rapide. En revanche, Crystal Dream a forcé le pas et ainsi gagné quelques places.

La place 17 est actuellement occupée par 2ch, suivie par les Meisterkühler, qui doivent garder un œil sur BOINC@Poland (#19). On dirait que les gars cool attachent plus d'importance aux autres disciplines, mais ils devront veiller à ne pas perdre trop de terrain au Marathon. EVGA a également pressé le pas et se retrouve maintenant au rang 20. Chinese Dream (#21) et LITOMYSL (#22) ne font aucun effort pour suivre le rythme et se retrouvent ainsi dans la ligne de mire de UBT (#23).
Suivent BOINCstats (#24), Team China (#25), Russia (#26) et Pfalz (#27).

Classement général
Au classement général, P3D continue sa folle course, mais demain il peut déjà en être autrement. TAAT a perdu quelques points et se maintient de justesse au rang 2. TSBT vient de prendre la 3e place et a renvoyé SG au rang 4 grâce à son bon lancer de javelot. SG semble désormais opérer dans un no man's land, mais je m'attends encore à quelque chose au javelot et le monde semblera à nouveau plus petit.

Assisterons-nous à une bataille à quatre, cinq voire plus derrière? [H] (#5) n'a qu'une courte avance devant RKN et CNT (toutes deux #6) et l'AF (#8) et LTT (#9) ne sont pas très loin non plus. Derrière, ISWT (#10) et BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) sont en embuscade et attendent un faux pas des autres. La douzaine est complétée par 2ch, suivie par l'Ukraine au rang 13. Entre les AMD Users (#14), OCN (#15) et Chinese Dream (#16) on ne pourrait même pas glisser une feuille de papier et LITOMYSL (#17) réussit à rejoindre cette troupe illustre.

Pour y arriver, les Meisterkühler (#18) et BOINC.Italy (#19) devront encore fournir beaucoup d'efforts. Je crois ces deux équipes capables de nettement plus que ce que nous voyons pour l'instant. Derrière, Crystal Dream garde le rang 20, tout juste devant EVGA. BOINC@Poland (#22) et Team China (#23) suivent et laissent UBT (#24) et BOINCstats (#24) derrière elles. Russia (#26) et Pfalz (#27) ferment la marche.

Demain, le deuxième lancer de javelot ainsi que le départ de la Course urbaine devraient réajuster bien des choses au classement général. SG devrait y placer de grands espoirs, tandis que la Planète Verte craindra la sécheresse. Voyons quelles sont les questions auxquelles nous pourrons répondre demain:

- SG pourra-t-elle gagner à la Course urbaine?
- TAAT pourra-t-elle garder la 2e place au Marathon?
- CNT attaquera-t-elle au Javelot?

Tag 3 - 07.05.2021 - Eine Ruhe hier...

Heute gilt es, kurz durchzuatmen, und die Ruhe zu genießen. OK, das gelingt nur, wenn Sie das Dröhnen der Lüfter überhören oder mal vor die Tür gehen. Aber wer will das schon? Draußen ist es entweder zu warm oder zu kalt und überall sind Pollen und kleine und große Viecher, mal mit, mal ohne Maske. Da lobe ich mir den Pentathlon, der hält frisch und die Gedanken auf Trab, ohne sich nur einen Millimeter bewegen zu müssen. OK, etwas Bewegung ist immer gut, das deutsche Bier, der französische Champagner oder schottische Single Malt sollen ja nicht verkommen und müssen geleert werden.

Speerwerfen (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
Der erste Wurf ist geschafft. Doch Ausruhen ist nicht, denn morgen steht der nächste Wurf an. Spätestens morgen werden die meisten Teams mindestens einmal gezeigt haben, was sie leisten können. Zwar ist ein Einstieg am Montag auch noch möglich, aber sehr, sehr riskant.

Derweil hat sich P3D die beste Ausgangsposition verschafft. Der Vorsprung ist deutlich und eine echte Herausforderung für TSBT (#2) und TAAT (#3). Vor allem die Schotten haben ihr Potential am Ende noch zeigen können und vielleicht ihren Anspruch auf mehr gezeigt. [H] hat derzeit #4 inne und es wird schwer werden, sich zu verbessern, ja diesen Platz zu halten. RKN (#5) ist vielleicht nicht der Hauptgegner, eher CNT (#6) und SG (#7). Beide Teams haben bestimmt noch ein paar weite Speere in der Hinterhand.

2ch sichert sich vorerst #8, vor AF (#9) und Chinese Dream (#10). Die Chinesen haben sich eine super Ausgangsbasis für die nächsten Versuche erworfen und bereiten LITOMYSL (#11), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#12) und LTT (#13) Kopfzerbrechen. In der Theorie kann noch jedes Team dahinter eine kräftigen Satz nach vorne machen. Morgen werden wir vielleicht mehr sehen. Die AMD Users auf #14 haben nur wenig mehr geworfen als die Ukraine (#15). Und was ISWT (#16) noch zu leisten vermag, bleibt weiter im Dunkeln.

Die Meisterkühler auf #17 und dahinter OCN (#18) sind nicht weit weg und im Grunde sind EVGA (#19) und Team China (#20) auch noch im Rennen. Nur auf #21 findet sich BOINC.Italy. Die Italiener sind auch beim Marathon nicht so schnell unterwegs, deutet das auf eine noch verdeckte Strategie hin? Auch BOINC@Poland auf #22 haben wir schon weiter vorne gesehen, mal sehen, ob die Polen genauso pokern. BOINCstats (#23), UBT (#24), Crystal Dream (#25), Russia (#26) und die Pfalz (#27) müssen sich dagegen sehr deutlich steigern.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
Auf der Langstrecke führt P3D weiter das Feld an. Der Grüne Planet scheint besonders schnellen Ökostrom gebucht zu haben, wahrscheinlich Kernkraft, ansonsten würde der Output nicht so stabil sein. Eine Dunkelflaute ist in den Ergebnissen bisher nicht zu erkennen. TAAT hält weiter #2, hat aber an Tempo eingebüßt. Vom aktuellen Tempo her sind TAAT, SG (#3) und TSBT (#4) fast auf Augenhöhe. Die Strecke ist noch lang und die Abstände noch überschaubar. Der Kampf um Silber und Bronze ist also voll entbrannt.

Derweil sichert LTT #5 ab, denn weder ISWT (#6) noch AF (#7) oder CNT (#8) können folgen und sind eher mit sich selbst beschäftigt. Vor allem der Kampf zwischen der Allianz und den Tschechen wird unser Crunchherz noch erfreuen...
Vielleicht gelingt es [H] (#10) ja noch aufzuschließen. Der Rückstand ist gering und RKN (#9) bald eingeholt, es ist also alles möglich. Das trifft zwar auch für BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) zu, doch das Tempo der Kängurus ist dafür zu langsam.

Eher sollte man den Blick auf die Ukraine (#12) richten, die zumindest nicht abreißen lässt. Sie haben auch den Vorteil, dass sie von hinten nicht bedrängt werden, denn weder OCN (#13) noch Crystal Dream (#14), BOINC.Italy (#15) oder die AMD Users (#16) sind schnell genug. Allerdings hat Crystal Dream das Tempo forciert und damit Plätze gewonnen.

Platz 17 steht derzeit für 2ch zu Buche, gefolgt von den Meisterkühlern, die auf BOINC@Poland (#19) aufpassen müssen. Die Coolen legen wohl mehr Wert auf die anderen Disziplinen, müssen aber aufpassen, beim Marathon nicht zu viel Boden zu verlieren. Seine Schritte beschleunigt hat auch EVGA und findet sich nun auf #20 wieder. Chinese Dream (#21) und LITOMYSL (#22) machen keine Anstalten, das Tempo auch nur mitgehen zu wollen, und geraten so ins Fadenkreuz von UBT (#23).
Es folgen BOINCstats (#24), Team China (#25), Russia (#26) und die Pfalz (#27).

Gesamtwertung
In der Gesamtwertung eilt P3D weiter voraus, aber das kann morgen schon anders aussehen. TAAT hat etwas Punkte verloren und hält knapp #2. TSBT hat sich nun auf #3 gesetzt und durch den guten Speer SG auf #4 verwiesen. SG erscheint jetzt im Niemandsland zu operieren, doch beim Speer erwarte ich noch etwas und dann sieht die Welt wieder kleiner aus.

Gibt es dahinter einen Vierkampf oder Fünfkampf oder gar mehr? [H] auf #5 hat nur einen knappen Vorsprung auf RKN und CNT (beide #6) und auch AF (#8) und LTT (#9) sind nicht so weit weg. Und dahinter liegen ISWT (#10) und BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) auf der Lauer und warten auf die Ausrutscher der Anderen. Das Dutzend beschließt 2ch, gefolgt von der Ukraine auf #13. Zwischen die AMD Users (#14), OCN (#15) und Chinese Dream (#16) passt kaum noch das sprichwörtliche Blatt Papier und LITOMYSL (#17) kann sich noch zu dieser illustren Truppe gesellen.

Um das zu schaffen, müssen sich dahinter die Meisterkühler (#18) und BOINC.Italy (#19) noch kräftig strecken. Beiden Teams ist durchaus mehr zuzutrauen als bisher zu sehen ist. Dahinter hält Crystal Dream #20, nur knapp vor EVGA. BOINC@Poland (#22) und Team China (#23) folgen dahinter und lassen UBT (#24) und BOINCstats (#24) hinter sich. Russia (#26) und die Pfalz (#27) beschließen das Feld.

Der morgige zweite Wurf beim Speer und der Start beim Stadtlauf dürften morgen einiges in der Gesamtwertung neu justieren. SG wird große Hoffnungen darauf setzen, wogegen beim Grünen Planeten Angst vor der Dürre herrscht. Mal sehen, welche Fragen morgen beantwortet werden können:

- Kann SG beim Stadtlauf siegen?
- Kann TAAT beim Marathon #2 halten?
- Greift CNT beim Speer an?

Day 2 - 06 May 2021 - The first throw

The first day on the Marathon course lies behind our Pentathletes. Not just the legs are hurting already, the arms will be heavily exerted too today, and meanwhile, the tactician's heads are spinning. Because the next two disciplines have been scheduled in the meantime.

The City Run in prime number land at PrimeGrid, and the Cross Country track at Einstein@Home are posing an interesting challenge. Both disciplines need to be played with similar equipment, and such may become tactically compelling. But we still have got some time until then.

Javelin Throw (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
The first throw is underway and it seems that P3D are already putting their full force behind it. A clear lead is the current result. Though I want to remind you, my faithful readers, that the day is not over yet at all. TAAT are currently occupying #2, followed by [H] at #3. It is not yet possible to tell if the duo already put full force into the throw, but it indeed appears likely.

After them, RKN really mean business, #5 currently is a really good halftime standing. Yet just having been #4, the Rechenkrafters had to witness how quickly the tide can turn: CNT pulled past onto #4 with a powerful throw. TSBT (#6) and SG (#7) could still extract more performance. Both teams are finding themselves at less than familiar rankings, and it looks like there is still some tactical manoeuvring going on here.

Once the top candidate for victory at WCG, 2ch are finding themselves at #8. Although, after the results of the previous few years, even this would be a success. One which Chinese Dream (#9) are bent on spoiling, matching every move of the Japanese. Next up, a trio of comparable strength appears to crystallize with LITOMYSL (#10), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11), and AF (#12). The distances are small, which promises suspenseful days ahead. However: Who loses ground here today might yet regret it.

Behind them, either a four-fight or two duels might emerge. We will know more probably no sooner than tomorrow. Just a few credits are separating Ukraine (#13) and OCN (#14), with Meisterkühler (#15) and LTT (#16) still being in striking distance. I am curious about the eventual outcome here.

A true pentathlon on its own has started at the next ranks, at which ISWT (#19) is now in danger of getting overrun. The scientists are a challenge for the competitors because they are still hard to assess at this time. But the AMD Users (#17), Team China (#18), BOINC.Italy (#20), and EVGA (#21) are not willing to go easy on the newcomer. Team China's moving
rather hesitantly here is putting up question marks too.

BOINCstats and BOINC@Poland are fighting for #22 right now, who were able to get away from their pursuers. Behind them, what was a duel just turned into a three-cornered battle. Crystal Dreams catapulted themselves to #24, leaving UBT (#25) and Russia (#26) in awe.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
P3D uphold their speed and try to secure Gold early. TAAT are not able to keep up with this pace now, but can ensure #2. After them, SG are more and more breaking into a sweat. The Teutons are still holding #3, but TSBT are approaching slowly but steadily. SG urgently need to move up a gear, otherwise Bronze will be difficult to get.

LTT continue to go very strongly and are securing #5. ISWT at #6 lost contact, and it remains to be seen whether they can make a return or if danger is coming up from behind, where AF (#7) and CNT (#8) are putting up an exciting duel. Will this fight heat further up such that both teams reach ISWT? We will see.

The battle for the top ten is still undecided. RKN are bravely holding #9, but danger is afoot. BOINC@AUSTRALIA, currently at rank 10, and [H] (#11) are approaching. We seem to have a cheerful trio here which will bring us some really exciting days yet. Behind, we find two teams who have lost ground somewhat during the past hours and were not able to cling on to BOINC@AUSTRALIA and [H]. It's two places down for Ukraine, now rank 12, and one down for OCN who ended up at rank 13 for now.

It may be reassuring to both that BOINC.Italy (#14) are apparently still occupied with wine and pasta; the delicious meal seems more interesting than the pacey run on the long haul. The field after them is reordering itself too. BOINC.Italy are seriously in danger and eventually need to put up a defense against the pushy crowds from behind. AMD Users (#15) are pressing onward first, with Crystal Dreams (#16) working their way forward in the wake.

2ch won four places and conquered #17 this way. The Japanese could overtake the Meisterkühlers (#18) too, who in turn gained two ranks, to the disadvantage of among else BOINC@Poland who are left at rank 19. It went even worse for Chinese Dream (#20). Their loss mounted up to five places, and now LITOMYSL (#21) is becoming a threat too. Afterwards there are no changes from yesterday, and therefore I am taking a look at the new overall standings.

Overall standings
The state of the overall standings needs to be taken with a grain of salt of course. The first attempt at Javelin Throw is still leaving open questions, such that there are still a lot of possibilities for movements in the field.

At present, P3D are leading the field, but TAAT are still keeping contact. The fight for Bronze is a closer one. SG are only narrowly holding the bronze rank ahead of TSBT, but might still advance at the Javelin. Though the same is true for the Scots. Not far behind are [H] (#5), whose deficit is remarkably small. The so far weak Marathon is costing at least one rank here. CNT are finding themselves at #6 but did not present any outliers yet, neither up nor down. The Czechs need to show more if they want to go for a medal in the overall standings.

RKN are valiantly holding rank 7, followed by AF at #8. BOINC@AUSTRALIA and LTT are occupying #9 together, whilst LTT are profiting from a strong Marathon. Next are ISWT and 2ch level on points (#11), and the Ukraine (#13). A nice trio we have got there. Undisturbed, OCN are watching the trio's row from back at #14. Chinese Dream (#15) are profiting from a good first javelin throw. Time will tell if they can uphold it.

The distances at the following ranks are so narrow that changes may happen every hour. At the moment, LITOMYSL are holding #16, followed by AMD Users (#17), Meisterkühler (#18), and BOINC.Italy (#19). Only here follows a small gap. Crystal Dream (#20) and BOINC@Poland (#21) have good results in the Marathon so far but suffer losses at the Javelin. This highlights the potential but also the danger. Merely at #22 we are finding Team China who left too many points at the Marathon.

EVGA at #23 may yet threaten the Chinese by means of stable results. Whether this may also be true with BOINCstats (#24), UBT (#25), Russia (#26), and BOINC@Pfalz (#27) remains to be seen.

An exciting second day is continuing. There is still a lot open and unclear, and a lot of questions present themselves.

- May SG hold on to #3 overall?
- Can TAAT stop the Green Planet?
- Will CNT still catch [H] at the Javelin?

Jour 2 - 06/05/2021 - Le premier lancer

La première journée sur la piste du Marathon est derrière nos Pentathlètes. Non seulement ils ont mal aux jambes, leurs bras sont bien sollicités aujourd'hui et en plus, les têtes des tacticiens fument car les deux prochaines disciplines sont annoncées.

La Course Urbaine au pays des nombres premiers chez PrimeGrid et le Cross-country chez Einstein@Home sont un défi intéressant. Les deux disciplines doivent être disputées avec un équipement similaire et peuvent donc devenir intéressantes d'un point de vue tactique. Mais d'ici là il nous reste un peu de temps.

Lancer de javelot (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
Le premier lancer est en cours et on dirait que P3D y met déjà toute sa puissance. Il en résulte une nette position dominante. Mais, fidèles lecteurs, je tiens à vous rappeler que la journée est loin d'être terminée. TAAT se place actuellement au rang 2, suivie par [H] au rang 3. On ne peut pas encore dire si ce duo a déjà mis toute sa force dans ce lancer, mais il y a tout lieu de le soupçonner.

Derrière, RKN semble passer aux choses sérieuses, le rang 5 actuel est un très bon résultat intermédiaire. À l'instant encore au rang 4, les gars et les filles de Rechenkraft ont vu à quelle vitesse les mouches ont changé d'âne, CNT s'étant propulsée au rang 4 grâce à un puissant lancer. TSBT (#6) et SG (#7) peuvent encore puiser dans leurs réserves. Les deux équipes se retrouvent actuellement sur des places pas vraiment habituelles et on dirait qu'elles jonglent encore avec les tactiques.

Autrefois candidat à la victoire sur WCG, 2ch se retrouve au rang 8. Toutefois, compte tenu des résultats des dernières années, même ça serait un succès. Mais Chinese Dream (#9) s'est mis en tête de leur mettre des bâtons dans les roues et s'est collée aux talons des Japonais. Avec LITOMYSL (#10), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) et l'AF (#12) un trio de force comparable semble se cristalliser derrière. Les écarts sont faibles, ce qui promet encore des journées passionnantes. Par contre, celles qui perdra du terrain aujourd'hui pourrait s'en mordre les doigts.

Derrière, on pourrait voir poindre une bagarre à quatre ou deux duels. On en saura probablement plus demain. Ukraine (#13) et OCN (#14) ne sont séparées que par quelques crédits et derrière les Meisterkühler (#15) et LTT (#16) sont encore à portée de tir. Je suis curieux de voir quel sera le résultat final.

Une bataille à cinq pur jus s'annonce derrière et ISWT (#19) risque actuellement de finir dans le ruisseau. Les Scientifiques sont un réel défi pour les autres concurrents, car ils sont encore difficilement évaluables. Mais les AMD Users (#17), Team China (#18), BOINC.Italy (#20) et EVGA (#21) ne veulent pas faciliter la vie aux bleues. Le fait que Team China soit encore plutôt faiblarde soulève aussi des questions.

BOINCstats et BOINC@Poland se battent actuellement pour le rang 22, mais elles ont déjà réussi à se détacher de leurs poursuivants. Derrière, un duel vient de se transformer en tiercé: Crystal Dream vient de se catapulter au rang 24. UBT (#25) et Russia (#26) en restent bouche bée.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
P3D maintient toujours un rythme soutenu et tente de sécuriser l'or de bonne heure. TAAT n'arrive pas à suivre ce rythme pour l'instant, mais cela suffit quand même pour assurer la 2e place. En revanche, SG commence à transpirer. Pour l'instant, les Teutons sont encore au rang 3, mais TSBT approche lentement mais sûrement. SG doit rapidement accélérer sinon ce sera difficile de garder le bronze.

LTT continue à progresser puissamment et assure le rang 5. ISWT au rang 6 doit lâcher prise et il reste à voir si elle peut revenir ou si un danger guette à l'arrière. L'AF (#7) et CNT (#8) se livrent un duel saisissant. Est-ce que les deux équipes pourront faire monter les enchères de manière à atteindre ISWT? Nous verrons bien.

La bataille pour le Top10 est loin d'être terminée. RKN se maintient vaillamment au rang 9, mais le danger vient de l'arrière: BOINC@AUSTRALIA, actuellement au rang 10, et [H] (#11) approchent. Il semblerait que nous ayons ici un joyeux trio qui nous offrira encore quelques journées très passionnantes. Derrière, nous trouvons deux équipes qui ont perdu un peu de terrain au cours des dernières heures: elles n'ont pas su retenir BOINC@AUSTRALIA et [H]. L'Ukraine a perdu deux places, actuellement rang 12. OCN a dû céder une place et se retrouve désormais au rang 13.

Ce qui sera rassurant pour elles, c'est qu'Italy (#14) est restée bloquée avec le vin et les pâtes. On dirait que leur délicieux mets est plus intéressant que la course sur la piste longue. Derrière, le peloton est aussi en train de se redessiner: BOINC.Italy est sérieusement en danger et doit commencer à tenir tête aux hordes qui poussent derrière. Les premiers à pousser sont les AMD Users (#15). Crystal Dreams (#16) avance dans leur sillage et remonte avec eux.

2ch a gagné quatre places et a ainsi conquis le rang 17. Ce faisant, les Japonais ont pu dépasser les Meisterkühler (#18), qui ont gagné deux places à leur tour. Leur victime est, entre autres, BOINC@Poland qui ne se retrouve plus qu'au rang 19. Il n'y a que Chinese Dream (#20) qui a vu pire: elle a dégringolé de cinq places et maintenant elle est aussi mise en danger par LITOMYSL (#21). Derrière, il n'y a pas eu de changements par rapport à hier, je passe donc au nouveau classement général.

Classement général
Bien sûr, l'état du classement général est à prendre avec des pincettes. Le premier lancer de javelot laisse beaucoup de questions sans réponse et donc beaucoup de possibilités de mouvement dans le peloton.

Actuellement P3D mène, mais TAAT continue à être sur ses talons. La bataille pour le bronze est nettement plus serrée: SG se maintient de justesse sur la 3e place devant TSBT, mais elle pourrait accélérer encore un peu au Javelot. Cela s'applique également aux Écossais. À une courte distance nous trouvons [H] (#5): son retard est étonnamment faible. Sa faiblesse au Marathon lui coûte au moins une place. CNT se retrouve au rang 6, mais elle n'a pas encore montré de valeur aberrante, ni vers le haut, ni vers le bas. Les Tchèques devront en montrer davantage s'ils veulent décrocher une médaille au général.

RKN se maintient vaillamment au rang 7, suivie par l'AF au rang 8. Australia et LTT se partagent le rang 9, sachant que LTT profite de sa force au Marathon. Derrière, nous trouvons les ex æquo ISWT (#11), 2ch (#11) et Ukraine (#13). Un chouette trio. Encore derrière, OCN observe tranquillement l'agitation de ce trio depuis le rang 14. Chinese Dream (#15) quant à elle profite d'un bon premier lancer de javelot. Reste à voir si elle peut le confirmer.

Les écarts qui suivent sont tellement serrés que des modifications sont possible à chaque heure. Actuellement, nous avons LITOMYSL au rang 16, suivie par AMD Users (#17), Meisterkühler (#18) et BOINC.Italy (#19). Ce n'est qu'après qu'il y a une petite distance. Certes, Crystal Dream (#20) et BOINC@Poland (#21) ont de bons résultats au Marathon jusqu'à présent, mais elles perdent côté Javelot. Cela montre d'un côté du potentiel, mais d'un autre côté aussi du danger. Nous retrouvons Team China seulement au rang 22: elle laisse filer trop de points au Marathon.

Avec des résultats stables, EVGA (#23) peut encore mettre en danger les Chinois. Il reste à voir si ça s'applique aussi à BOINCstats (#24), UBT (#25), Russia (#26) et BOINC@Pfalz (#27).

Une saisissante deuxième journée est en cours: beaucoup de paris sont ouverts, bien des choses ne sont pas encore claires et il y a de nombreuses questions.

- SG pourra-t-elle maintenir la 3e place au général?
- TAAT peut-elle stopper la Planète Verte?
- CNT chopera-t-elle encore [H] au Javelot?

Tag 2 - 06.05.2021 - Der erste Wurf

Der erste Tag auf der Marathonstrecke liegt hinter unseren Fünfkämpfern. Nicht nur die Beine schmerzen schon, auch die Arme werden heute heftig belastet, und dazu rauchen die Köpfe bei den Taktikern. Denn inzwischen sind die nächsten beiden Disziplinen terminiert.

Der Stadtlauf im Primezahlenland bei PrimeGrid und die Querfeldeinstrecke bei Einstein@Home stellen eine interessante Herausforderung da. Beide Disziplinen müssen mit ähnlicher Ausrüstung bestritten werden und können so taktisch sehr interessant werden. Doch bis dahin haben wir noch etwas Zeit.

Speerwerfen (WCG - Microbiome Immunity Project)
Die erste Wurf läuft und es scheint, dass P3D hier bereits die volle Kraft reinlegt. Eine deutliche Führung ist das aktuelle Resultat. Ich möchte Sie aber daran erinnern, meine treuen Leser, dass der Tag noch lange nicht vorbei ist. TAAT hat derzeit #2 inne, gefolgt von [H] auf #3. Es ist noch nicht einschätzbar, ob das Duo bereits volle Kraft in den Wurf gelegt hat, es hegt sich aber durchaus dieser Verdacht.

RKN dahinter macht wohl wirklich erst, #5 aktuell ist ein sehr guter Zwischenstand. Gerade noch auf #4 mussten die Rechenkraftler erleben, wie schnell sich das Blatt wenden kann. CNT hat sich nämlich mit einem kräftigen Wurf auf #4 gebracht. Mehr aus sich rausholen können noch TSBT (#6) und SG (#7). Beide Teams finden sich derzeit nicht unbedingt auf bekannten Plätzen wieder und es scheint, dass hier noch taktiert wird.

Früher der Sieganwärter Nummer eins bei WCG, findet sich 2ch auf #8 wieder. Allerdings, nach den Ergebnissen der Vorjahre, wäre auch das ein Erfolg. Den will Chinese Dream (#9) aber noch etwas versalzen und hat sich an die Japaner geheftet. Mit LITOMYSL (#10), BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) und AF (#12) scheint sich dahinter ein Trio in vergleichbarer Stärke herauszukristallisieren. Die Abstände sind gering, was noch spannende Tage verspricht. Allerdings: wer heute hier Boden einbüßt, könnte es noch bereuen.

Dahinter könnten sich ein Vierkampf oder zwei Duelle anbahnen. Mehr werden wir wohl erst morgen genauer wissen. Ukraine (#13) und OCN (#14) trennen nur wenige Credits und dahinter sind die Meisterkühler (#15) und LTT (#16) noch Schlagdistanz. Ich bin gespannt, wie das Ergebnis hier am Ende lauten wird.

Ein waschechter Fünfkampf bahnt sich dahinter an, bei dem ISWT (#19) gerade unter die Räder zu kommen droht. Die Wissenschaftler sind eine echte Herausforderung für die Konkurrenz, denn so richtig einschätzbar sind sie noch nicht. Die AMD Users (#17), Team China (#18), BOINC.Italy (#20) und EVGA (#21) wollen dem Neuling das Leben aber nicht ganz so einfach machen. Auch dass Team China hier noch eher schwach unterwegs ist, wirft Fragen auf.

Um #22 kämpfen derzeit BOINCstats und BOINC@Poland, die sich aber von den Verfolgern bereits lösen konnten. Dahinter ist aus einem Duell gerade ein Dreikampf geworden. Crystal Dream hat sich gerade auf #24 katapultiert. UBT (#25) und Russia (#26) bleibt da nur noch zu staunen.

Marathon (SiDock@home)
P3D hält das Tempo weiter hoch und versucht Gold frühzeitig abzusichern. TAAT kann derzeit das Tempo nicht mitgehen, aber das reicht dennoch aus, um #2 abzusichern. Dahinter kommt SG aber langsam ins Schwitzen. Noch haben die Teutonen #3 inne, doch TSBT nähert sich stetig, aber langsam. SG muss dringend zulegen, sonst wird es schwer mit Bronze.

LTT ist weiter sehr stark unterwegs und sichert #5 ab. ISWT auf #6 muss abreißen lassen und es bleibt abzuwarten, ob sie noch zurückkehren können oder ob von hinten Gefahr droht. AF (#7) und CNT (#8) liefern sich dahinter einen packenden Zweikampf. Können beide Teams sich im gegenseitigen Duell so hochschaukeln, dass sie ISWT erreichen? Wir werden sehen.

Der Kampf um die Top 10 ist noch lange nicht entschieden. RKN hält wacker #9 doch von dahinter droht Gefahr. BOINC@AUSTRALIA, derzeit auf Platz zehn, und [H] (#11) kommen näher. Hier haben wir wohl ein munteres Trio, dass uns noch ein paar sehr spannende Tage bescheren wird. Dahinter finden wir zwei Teams, die in den letzten Stunden etwas an Boden verloren haben. BOINC@AUSTRALIA und [H] haben die beiden nicht halten können. Für die Ukraine ging es zwei Plätze nach hinten, jetzt Platz 12. OCN hat einen Platz abgeben müssen und findet sich nun auf Platz 13 wieder.

Beruhigend für beide wird wohl sein, dass BOINC.Italy (#14) weiter bei Wein und Pasta versackt geblieben ist, scheinbar ist das leckere Mahl interessanter als der schnelle Lauf auf der Langstrecke. Auch dahinter sortiert sich das Feld neu. BOINC.Italy ist ernsthaft in Gefahr und muss den drängenden Horden von hinten langsam etwas entgegensetzen. Allen voran drängen die AMD Users (#15) nach vorn. In deren Windschatten ist Crystal Dreams (#16) unterwegs und arbeitet sich mit nach vorne.

Vier Plätze gewonnen hat 2ch und so #17 erobert. Die Japaner konnten dabei auch die Meisterkühler (#18) überholen, die ihrerseits zwei Plätze gewannen. Leidtragend ist unter anderem BOINC@Poland, das sich nur noch auf Platz 19 wiederfindet. Schlimmer erging es nur noch Chinese Dream (#20). Ganze fünf Plätze ging es nach unten und nun droht auch noch von LITOMYSL (#21) Gefahr. Dahinter gab es zu gestern keine Veränderungen und so werfe ich einen Blick auf die neue Gesamtwertung.

Gesamtwertung
Der Stand in der Gesamtwertung ist natürlich mit Vorsicht zu genießen. Der erste Wurf beim Speerwerfen lässt noch viele Fragen offen und so ist noch eine Menge Möglichkeiten vorhanden, dass Bewegung ins Feld kommt.

Aktuell führt P3D das Feld an, doch TAAT hält weiter Kontakt. Enger geht es bei dem Kampf um Bronze zu. SG hält nur knapp den Bronzerang vor TSBT, könnte aber beim Speer noch zulegen. Das trifft allerdings auch auf die Schotten zu. Nicht weit dahinter findet sich [H] (#5) wieder, der Rückstand ist erstaunlich gering. Der bisher schwache Marathon kostet hier mindestens eine Platzierung. CNT findet sich auf #6 wieder, hat aber bisher noch keinen Ausreißer nach oben oder unten gezeigt. Die Tschechen müssen mehr zeigen, wenn sie in der Gesamtwertung eine Medaille holen wollen.

RKN hält wacker Platz 7, gefolgt von AF auf #8. BOINC@AUSTRALIA und LTT halten gemeinsam #9, wobei LTT vom starken Marathon profitiert. Punktgleich dahinter finden sich ISWT (#11), 2ch (#11) und die Ukraine (#13). Ein nettes Trio haben wir da. Dahinter schaut sich OCN das Treiben des Trios auf #14 in Seelenruhe an. Chinese Dream (#15) dahinter profitiert von einem guten ersten Speerwurf. Es bleibt abzuwarten, ob sie das bestätigen können.

Die Abstände dahinter sind so eng, dass jede Stunde Veränderungen möglich sind. Aktuell hält LITOMYSL #16, gefolgt von AMD Users (#17), Meisterkühler (#18) und BOINC.Italy (#19). Erst danach gibt es eine kleine Lücke. Crystal Dream (#20) und BOINC@Poland (#21) haben zwar beim Marathon gute Ergebnisse bisher, aber büßen dafür beim Speer ein. Das zeigt einerseits das Potential, andererseits die Gefahr. Erst auf #22 finden wir Team China, die beim Marathon zu viele Punkte liegen lassen.

EVGA auf #23 kann den Chinesen durch stabile Ergebnisse noch gefährlich werden. Ob das auch auf BOINCstats (#24), UBT (#25), Russia (#26) und BOINC@Pfalz (#27) zutrifft, bleibt abzuwarten.

Ein spannender zweiter Tag läuft. Noch ist vieles offen und unklar und es stellen sich eine Menge Fragen.

- Kann SG #3 Gesamt halten?
- Kann TAAT den Grünen Planeten stoppen?
- Schnappt sich CNT noch [H] beim Speer?

Day 1 - 05 May 2021 - Off of the starting blocks

Do you know the feeling when you can finally enjoy something which you had missed for an eternity? The cold beer running through your throat, going for a walk for the first time after corontine, or the view at the Pentathlon charts?

It is indescribable. Everywhere I am looking into the faces of the Pentathletes which are enchanted with this incomparable sweet and fine smile. I am glad to be able to hack away at the keyboard again, and with a clear head now, energy flows through my fingers, like it does through the processor cores too.

27 teams went onto the Marathon track today, which I will turn to in a minute. Team China is back on board, which I like a lot, because the red dragon is always a medal aspirant.

The next discipline is already known. Javelin Through starts tomorrow with the first throw. Those who do well here and have nerves of steel will be done with just three throws and can save power for the other disciplines. But this can backfire too. In the past years, the teams confronted us with different tactics; let's see who has got the strongest throwing arm and the best tactical skill.

Marathon (SiDock@home) = Overall Standings
Since Marathon is still the only discipline showing on the scoreboard of this year's Pentathlon, Marathon standings and overall standings are identical. Tomorrow this may and will look different, notably due to different tactics at Javelin Throw.

Every so often during the past years, there was a team with a hell of a good start and a huge lead. But this time it's different. Planet 3DNow! (P3D) placed themselves at the top of the field. 5x Silver and 2x Gold is the track record of the Green Planet at Marathon so far, and apparently they intend to follow through again this year. But the lead is not too large, and it is possible to catch up with them.

TeAm AnandTech (TAAT) try to match the pace and are holding Silver rank. Last year they could scoop a complete set of medals in disciplines, although they left the Marathon empty-handed. This seems due to be changed this year. Behind, SETI.Germany (S⁠G) are holding 3rd place. A surprisingly good start for the German team, let's see if they can keep it up.

Because danger lurks from The Scottish Boinc Team (TSBT, #4). The sweetly smelling breath of a good Single Malt may already have reached SG. Does this spur them on, or cloud their senses? We will see. Maybe we will have a whiskey and beer soon.

There is an already larger gap is widening behind them, which is certainly surprising. What's more, it were LinusTechTips_Team (LTT, #5) who allowed this gap top open. Last year, Marathon with Bronze was their highlight of the Pentathlon. Now they need to be careful not to stay behind.

In LTT's slipstream, there are In Science We Trust (ISWT) running at #6 and Czech National Team (CNT, #7). It is still hard to tell how the rookies of ISWT will fare, whereas the Czechs were often seen in these regions of the Marathon in previous years. But good to see a new team already stirring up the top ten.

There is a duel afoot about #8. L'Alliance Francophone (AF, #8) and Rechenkraft.net (RKN, #9) are closely spaced. The pace of the duo is not sufficient to stabilize the gap in front, on the contrary. We should not count out Ukraine (#10) and BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) here, nor Overclock.net (OCN) at #12 and [H]ard|OCP ([H]) at #13. Although the pace of OCN was not particularly good in the last hour, this may change any time, like [H] have shown just now, making some ground.

BOINC.Italy at #14 look to have a little break with wine and pasta, by which Chinese Dream (#15) apparently let infect themselves too. This is a chance for AMD Users (#16) and Crystal Dream (#17) to catch up and snag themselves some pasta and wine along the way. I wouldn't put it past BOINC@Poland (#18) to do the same, but right now I am not recognizing
sufficient motivation there.

After that, LITOMYSL (#19) are breaking a sweat, because Meisterkühler (#20) are stoking the boilers and are catching up, and detached from Team 2ch on #21 too. Crunching@EVGA (EVGA, #22) and UK BOINC Team (UBT) on #23 are following.

Rank 24 is secured by BOINCstats currently, followed by Team China (#25). So far the red dragon is not very threatening, more Mushu than Smaug. This way the Chinese won't get very far in the overall standings. But perhaps Russia (#26) can tickle the dragon to wake up. The Russian bear is still in hibernation though, and so his walk still looks quite clumsy. The last place is taken by BOINC@Pfalz. Somehow they seem to got lost in the wine cellar.

What are the first hours telling us? Besides very well known ones, four teams seem to detach themselves from the field. The other teams have to be careful here not to miss some crucial points already early in the race. The weakness of the Chinese is still a puzzle. Even though the Marathon course is still long, experience is showing that big jumps towards the end are rather rare, also considering that other disciplines will divert forces. And this is what we will see tomorrow:

- Who will let the javelin fly the furthest?
- Can P3D maintain the lead on the long distance?
- Will TSBT make it onto #3 at the marathon with stunning tactics?

You see it remains exciting at the BOINC Pentathlon.

Jour 1 - 05/05/2021 - Sortie des starting-blocks

Vous connaissez ce sentiment de pouvoir enfin savourer quelque chose que vous n'aviez pas eu depuis longtemps? Une bière fraîche qui coule dans votre gosier, la première promenade après la "corontaine" ou le coup d'œil au tableau du Pentathlon?

C'est indescriptible. Partout je vois les visages des Pentathlètes rehaussés par ce doux sourire incomparable. Je suis heureux de pouvoir à nouveau taper sur le clavier et, maintenant que ma tête est de nouveau claire, l'énergie afflue dans mes doigts tout comme elle afflue dans les cœurs des processeurs.

27 équipes se sont lancées sur la piste du Marathon aujourd'hui vers lequel je ne vais pas tarder à me tourner. Team China est à nouveau à bord, ce qui me fait très plaisir, car le dragon rouge est toujours un candidat aux médailles.

La discipline suivante est également connue. Le Javelot commence demain avec le premier lancer. Ceux qui sont bons ici et qui ont des nerfs d'acier s'en tireront avec trois lancers et pourront économiser leurs forces pour les autres disciplines. Mais ça peut aussi se retourner contre eux. Au cours des dernières années, les équipes nous ont mis face à différentes tactiques. Voyons qui aura le meilleur bras lanceur et la meilleure habileté technique cette année.

Marathon (SiDock@home) = Classement général
Comme en ce démarrage de Pentathlon une seule discipline se trouve sur le tableau des points avec le Marathon, le classement au Marathon et le classement général sont identiques. Demain, il en sera autrement, aussi à cause des différentes tactiques au Javelot.

Ces dernières années, il y avait toujours une équipe qui avait diablement bien démarré sur la piste longue et s'était assurée une bonne avance. Mais cette fois c'est différent. Planet 3DNow! (P3D) s'est placée en tête du peloton. Jusqu'à présent, la Planète Verte a remporté 5x l'argent et 2x l'or au Marathon et on dirait qu'ils en veulent encore cette année. Mais pour l'instant, son avance n'est pas trop grande et peut être rattrapée.

TeAm AnandTech (TAAT) tente de suivre le rythme et tient actuellement l'argent. L'an dernier elle a réussi à récupérer un jeu complet de médailles, mais elle n'a rien pu faire au Marathon. C'est ce qu'elle semble vouloir changer cette année. SETI.Germany (S⁠G) se tient derrière au rang 3. Un démarrage surprenant pour l'équipe allemande - voyons si elle arrivera à se maintenir.

Car The Scottish Boinc Team (TSBT, #4) se tient en embuscade. Le doux parfum d'un bon Single Malt a déjà dû atteindre SG. Est-ce qu'il va les aiguillonner ou les étourdir? Nous verrons bien. Peut-être qu'il y aura bientôt une bière au whisky.

Derrière, il y a déjà un écart un peu plus important, ce qui est surprenant. Tout aussi surprenant que le fait que LinusTechTips_Team (LTT, #5) ait dû laisser cet écart se creuser. L'an dernier, le Marathon était leur point fort avec le gain de la médaille de bronze, cette fois l'équipe doit déjà veiller à ne pas perdre le contact.

Sous le vent de LTT nous trouvons In Science We Trust (ISWT) au rang 6 et Czech National Team (CNT, #7). Il est encore difficile à prédire comment les bleus de ISWT vont se battre, tandis que les Tchèques ont volontiers passé le Marathon dans ces eaux ces dernières années. Ça fait plaisir de voir qu'une nouvelle équipe anime dès le départ le Top10.

Un duel s'amorce pour la 8e place. L'Alliance Francophone (AF, #8) et Rechenkraft.net (RKN, #9) sont au coude à coude. La vitesse de ce duo ne suffit pas pour garder un écart stable vers l'avant, bien au contraire. N'oublions pas Ukraine (#10) et BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11), et n'oublions pas non plus Overclock.net (OCN) au rang 12 et [H]ard|OCP ([H]) au rang 13. Certes, la vitesse d'OCN de la dernière heure n'étais pas terrible, mais ça peut changer à tout moment - comme [H] vient de le montrer en gagnant du terrain.

BOINC.Italy au rang 14 semblait faire une petit pause avec des pâtes et du vin, ce qui a attiré Chinese Dream (#15). C'est le moment pour AMD Users (#16) et Crystal Dream (#17) de remonter et peut-être de piquer un peu de pâtes et de vin en passant. J'en croirais aussi BOINC@Poland (#18) capable, mais pour l'instant je ne détecte pas assez de motivation.

Derrière, LITOMYSL (#19) commence à transpirer car les Meisterkühler (#20) ont mis les bouchées doubles, sont remontés et se sont aussi détachés de Team 2ch et du rang 21. Suivant Crunching@EVGA (EVGA) (#22) et UK BOINC Team (UBT) au rang 23.

Actuellement BOINCstats assure le rang 24, suivie par Team China (#25). Pour l'instant, le dragon rouge n'est pas encore dangereux, ce serait plutôt Mushu que Smaug. Cela ne fera pas beaucoup avancer les Chinois au classement général. Peut-être que Russia (#26) pourra réveiller le dragon par des chatouilles? Mais l'ours russe est encore en hibernation et par conséquent sa démarche est encore un peu pataude. La lanterne rouge revient à BOINC@Pfalz. On dirait que les Palatins ont échoué dans une cave à vin.

Que nous disent ces premières heures? Outre des équipes bien connues, 4 équipes semblent sortir du lot. Les autres équipes devront faire attention à ne pas perdre d'importants points au tout début. La faiblesse des Chinois soulève bien des questions. Même si la piste du Marathon est encore longue, l'expérience a montré que les grands bonds à la fin sont plutôt rares. Surtout parce que d'autres disciplines demandent des efforts. C'est ce que nous verrons demain:

- Qui lancera son javelot le plus loin demain?
- P3D peut-elle maintenir son avance sur la piste longue?
- TSBT arrivera-t-elle avec une tactique d'endormissement à monter au rang 3 du Marathon?

Tag 1 - 05.05.2021 - Raus aus den Blöcken

Kennen Sie das Gefühl, wenn Sie endlich etwas genießen können, was Sie schon ewig nicht mehr hatten? Das kalte Bier, das durch ihre Kehle rinnt, der erste Spaziergang nach der Corontäne oder der Blick auf die Tabelle des Pentathlons?

Es ist unbeschreiblich. Überall blicke ich in die Gesichter der Pentathleten, die mit diesem unvergleichbaren süßen und feinen Lächeln veredelt sind. Ich bin froh, endlich wieder in die Tasten hauen zu können, und jetzt wo der Kopf wieder klar ist, strömt die Energie in meine Finger, wie sie auch in die Prozessorkerne strömt.

27 Teams haben sich heute auf die Strecke des Marathon begeben, dem ich mich gleich zuwenden werde. Team China ist wieder an Bord, was mich sehr freut, denn der rote Drache ist immer Medaillenaspirant.

Auch die nächste Disziplin ist bereits bekannt. Das Speerwerfen beginnt morgen mit dem ersten Wurf. Wer hier gut ist und Nerven wie Stahlseile hat, kommt mit drei Würfen aus und kann Kraft für die anderen Disziplinen sparen. Doch das kann auch nach hinten losgehen. In den vergangenen Jahren haben uns die Teams mit verschiedenen Taktiken konfrontiert, mal sehen, wer dieses Jahr den besten Wurfarm und das beste taktische Geschick hat.

Marathon (SiDock@home) = Gesamtwertung
Da zum Start des diesjährigen Pentathlon mit dem Marathon nur eine Disziplin auf dem Punkteboard steht, sind die Wertung im Marathon und die Gesamtwertung identisch. Morgen kann und wird dies anders aussehen, auch wegen der unterschiedlichen Taktiken beim Speer.

In den vergangen Jahren gab es auf der Langstrecke gerne Mal ein Team das höllisch gut gestartet ist und einen großen Vorsprung herausgeholt hat. Doch dieses Mal ist dies etwas anders. Planet 3DNow! (P3D) hat sich an die Spitze des Feldes gesetzt. 5x Silber und 2x Gold ist die Bilanz des grünen Planeten beim Marathon bisher und scheinbar will man es dieses Jahr wieder wissen. Doch noch ist der Vorsprung nicht zu groß und damit aufholbar.

TeAm AnandTech (TAAT) versucht, das Tempo mitzugehen, und hält den Silberrang. Im vergangenen Jahr konnten sie in den Disziplinen einen kompletten Medaillensatz abstauben, allerdings war beim Marathon nichts zu holen. Dies will wohl dieses Jahr geändert werden. Dahinter hält sich SETI.Germany (S⁠G) auf #3. Ein überraschend guter Start für das deutsche Team, mal sehen, ob sie das halten können.

Gefahr lauert nämlich von The Scottish Boinc Team (TSBT, #4). Die süße Fahne eines guten Single Malt dürfte SG bereits erreicht haben. Spornt sie das an oder benebelt es? Wir werden sehen. Vielleicht gibt es ja bald ein Whiskybier.

Dahinter klafft bereits eine etwas größere Lücke, was durchaus überrascht. Auch das LinusTechTips_Team (LTT, #5) musste diese Lücke reißen lassen. Letztes Jahr war der Marathon mit dem Gewinn der Bronzemedaille ihr Höhepunkt des Pentathlons. Jetzt muss man bereits aufpassen, um nicht den Anschluss zu verlieren.

Im Windschatten von LTT laufen In Science We Trust (ISWT) auf #6 und das Czech National Team (CNT, #7). Noch ist schwer auszumachen, wie sich Rookies von ISWT schlagen werden, wogegen die Tschechen in den letzten Jahren den Marathon gern in dieser Gegend verbracht haben. Aber schön, dass ein neues Team gleich mal die Top10 in Schwung bringt.

Ein Duell bahnt sich um #8 an. L'Alliance Francophone (AF, #8) und Rechenkraft.net (RKN, #9) liegen dichtauf. Das Tempo des Duos reicht nicht, um die Lücke nach vorn stabil zu halten, im Gegenteil. Die Ukraine (#10) und BOINC@AUSTRALIA (#11) sollten wir nicht von der Rechnung nehmen. Auch Overclock.net (OCN) auf #12 und [H]ard|OCP ([H]) auf #13 sollten wir hier nicht streichen. Zwar war das Tempo von OCN in der letzte Stunde nicht besonders gut, aber das kann sich jederzeit ändern; so wie es gerade [H] zeigte und Boden gut machte.

BOINC.Italy auf #14 machte wohl gerade bei Wein und Pasta eine kleine Pause, wovon sich wohl auch Chinese Dream (#15) hat anstecken lassen. Das ist die Chance für AMD Users (#16) und Crystal Dream (#17) aufzuschließen und vielleicht noch etwas Pasta und Wein abzustauben. Das würde ich auch BOINC@Poland (#18) zutrauen, doch derzeit ist mir da zu wenig Motivation erkennbar.

Dahinter kommt LITOMYSL (#19) ins Schwitzen, denn die Meisterkühler (#20) haben kräftig Dampf gemacht und holen auf und haben sich so auch von Team 2ch auf #21 gelöst. Es folgen Crunching@EVGA (EVGA) (#22) und das UK BOINC Team (UBT) auf #23.

Platz 24 sichert derzeit BOINCstats ab, gefolgt von Team China (#25). Noch ist der rote Drache nicht sehr bedrohlich, eher Mushu als Smaug. So werden die Chinesen in der Gesamtwertung nicht weit kommen. Vielleicht kann ja Russia (#26) den Drachen wachkitzeln. Allerdings ist der russische Bär noch im Winterschlaf und dementsprechend sieht sein Lauf noch sehr unbeholfen aus. Den letzten Platz hat BOINC@Pfalz inne. Irgendwie scheinen die Pfälzer im Weinkeller versackt zu sein.

Was sagen uns die ersten Stunden? Neben durchaus Bekannten scheinen sich 4 Teams abzusetzen. Hier müssen die anderen Teams aufpassen, um nicht schon früh wichtige Punkte liegen zu lassen. Die Schwäche der Chinesen gibt noch Rätsel auf. Auch wenn die Strecke beim Marathon noch lang ist, die Erfahrung zeigt aber, dass große Sprünge hinten raus eher selten sind. Auch weil andere Disziplinen Kraft binden. Und das werden wir morgen sehen:

- Wer lässt morgen den Speer am weitesten fliegen?
- Kann P3D den Vorsprung auf der Langstrecke halten?
- Schafft es TSBT mit Betäubungstaktik auf #3 beim Marathon?

Ihr seht, es bleibt spannend beim BOINC Pentathlon.
