Day 10 – 14 May 2023 – Something Shines in the Sun – Part 2

Today and tomorrow, our brave teams have to compete in three disciplines simultaneously. But this also means that there was another decision. The Javelin Throw has been decided and thus we also have more meaningful overall standings now. And this probably has woken some teams up. Reason enough to have a closer look at these two rankings today. At the same time, it is off to the Cross Country track, which I will have a closer look at tomorrow.

Javelin Throw (SRBase: all subprojects except TF)
Victory again goes to TAAT, who quickly wrapped it up on the final day. SG were rewarded with silver and are celebrating their best single ranking since 2020. P3D only did in their last throw what was necessary to collect bronze. Maybe more would have been possible with a more courageous first throw. Congratulations to the podium climbers.

While RKN (#4) were not rewarded with a medal, their best single ranking since 2019 should also be a reason to celebrate. In the end, the Rechenkrafties simply ran out of steam. At least they were able to keep CNT (#5) behind, who just barely came up short to the Germans.

[H] really did the bare minimum to take home #6. But that could have gone very wrong, as Ukraine (#7) were only a whisker away. Apparently, the Ukrainians like the javelin, as they also excelled here last year.

LTT (#8) did not have to do anything on the final day, as AF (#9) and LITOMYSL (#10) had no chance to catch them. MK would have had a theoretical chance to get in there, but there was apparently not enough power left to do so and they ended up in #11.

BOINC.Italy were able to skip the last throw and still bring in #12, because SUSA (#13) did not throw well enough in the previous attempts. Behind them, EVGA benefit from the fact that AMD Users (#15) did not deliver in their final throw. The first signs of wear probably started to show here as well.

Crystal Dream (#16), TFFE (#17), and BC (#18) can be found on the next places. As expected, GPUUG have moved up behind them, but they still will not be satisfied. Their final throw was not quite optimal and so they end up in #19 instead of a possible #16. By the way, this is also true for TSBT (#20). The Scots threw quite consistently and thus probably did not make the best use of they forces.

A massive first throw raised expectations of great things to come, but unfortunately B@P could not follow up on this later and end up only in #21. TC show again this year that they do not like the javelin, and thus #22 is their result. Behind them, Russia have brought in #23, leaving OCN (#24) and B^S (#25) behind.

BOINCstats finishes in #26, followed by Chinese Dream (#27) and PiGyS (#28). While 2ch skipped the javelin altogether, UBT is puzzling. Their first throw was fine and might have been enough for #25, but it was followed up with nothing. What a pity.

Overall Standings
After the decision in the Javelin Throw and the start of the Cross Country, we now have a more meaningful picture in the overall standings. It might come as a bit of a surprise. However, there are three disciplines still in progress.

TAAT are clearly in the lead and will probably be able to repeat last year's victory, but behind them, nothing is decided yet. P3D hold on to silver, but LTT (#3) still has potential in the Cross Country. There is already a rather large gap behind them. SG (#4), [H] (#5), and CNT (#6) are required to do more.

Behind them, GPUUG (#7) are reaching for gold in the Cross Country, but they do not like the Sprint and the Javelin Throw, and so it will be difficult to move up further in the overall standings. RKN (#8) have been slow in the Cross Country so far. If they changed that, it would still be possible for them to catch GPUUG and at the same time keep AF (#9) at bay.

In contrast, SUSA (#11) would have to make a huge effort to move up further. And they have to watch out for TC (#12) and Ukraine (#10), who are always good for surprises. The Ukrainians in particular have made a nice intermediate spurt in the last few hours.

MK have won #13 for now, just ahead of OCN. Usually, we always have to reckon with the cooling experts, but they are currently not doing well in the Cross Country. Unfortunately, history shows that this is not unusual for this type of track. But at the moment it looks like they have worked on that. BOINC.Italy in #15 have benefited from the rapid fall of EVGA (#16) in the last hours. And now, AMD Users (#17) are on the attack as well.

A good start in the Cross Country puts TSBT in #18 in the current overall standings, just ahead of LITOMYSL (#19). The dreamers of Crystal Dream and Chinese Dream are currently battling for #21. However, Chinese Dream are currently benefiting from a superb start in the Cross Country. It remains to be seen if they can keep it up. This also left B@P (#20) with a chance to pass both of them, and they used it. As a result, the Poles could also break away from the trio of TFFE (#23), Russia (#24), and BC (#25).

There is also a competition for the places behind them. Currently 2ch (#26) is in the best position, followed by UBT (#27), B^S (#28), and BOINCstats (#29). For PiGyS it is about eating pizza, gyros, and schnitzel under the red lantern.

Even though the fog of ambiguity has lifted a bit today, many questions remain still open:

• Will LTT win silver in the Sprint?
• Can TAAT still catch the GPU users in the Cross Country?
• Will P3D really win gold in the Obstacle Run?

Jour 10 – 14/05/2023 – Quelque chose brille au soleil – 2e partie

Aujourd'hui et demain, nos vaillantes équipes doivent intervenir sur trois disciplines en même temps. Mais cela signifie aussi qu'un autre résultat est tombé: le Lancer de javelot est terminé et nous avons donc un classement général parlant. Cela a dû réveiller un certain nombre d'équipes. C'est une raison suffisante pour regarder ces deux classements à la loupe. Dans le même temps, le départ a sonné pour le Cross-country que je regarderai d'un peu plus près demain.

Lancer de Javelot (SRBase: tous les sous-projets sauf TF)
La victoire va une fois de plus à TAAT qui a rapidement clarifié les choses le dernier jour. SG a été récompensée par une médaille d'argent et salue avec joie ce meilleur classement individuel depuis 2020. Avec son dernier lancer, P3D a fait le strict nécessaire pour collecter la médaille de bronze. Peut-être qu'elle aurait pu faire mieux si elle avait mis plus de cœur dans son premier lancer. Toutes nos félicitations aux équipes sur le podium!

Certes, RKN (#4) n'a eu que la médaille en chocolat, mais ce meilleur classement individuel depuis 2019 devrait aussi être une raison de faire la fête. À la fin, les gars et les filles de Rechenkraft n'ont tout simplement plus eu de forces. Mais au moins, ils ont réussi à maintenir CNT (#5) derrière eux, bien qu'il ne manquait pas grand-chose à cette équipe pour rattraper les Allemands.

[H] n'a vraiment fait que le strict minimum pour récupérer la 6e place. Ça aurait très bien pu mal tourner, car l'Ukraine (#7) n'était qu'à un souffle. Les Ukrainiens semblent être à l'aise avec le javelot; en effet, ils brillaient déjà dans cette discipline l'an dernier.

LTT (#8) n'avait plus besoin de faire quoi que ce soit le dernier jour, car l'AF (#9) et LITOMYSL (#10) n'avaient aucune chance de la rattraper. Théoriquement, MK auraient eu une opportunité de s'immiscer, mais visiblement ils n'en avaient plus la force et il ne leur reste que la 11e place.

BOINC.Italy a pu faire l'impasse sur le dernier lancer et quand même décrocher la 12e place, car SUSA (#13) n'a pas assez bien lancé dans ses tentatives précédentes. Derrière, EVGA profite du fait que les AMD Users (#15) n'aient pas transformé leur dernier lancer. Les premières traces d'usure semblent s'être montrées ici aussi.

Nous trouvons Crystal Dream (#16), TFFE (#17) et BC (#18) sur les places suivantes. Comme prévu, GPUUG s'est glissée derrière, mais je pense qu'elle ne sera pas satisfaite. Le dernier lancer n'était pas optimal et il ne lui reste que la 19e place, alors que la 16e aurait été possible. Cela s'applique aussi à TSBT (#20): les Écossais ont lancé de manière assez régulière et ne semblent pas avoir utilisé leurs forces de manière idéale.

Un premier méga-lancer a laissé beaucoup espérer, mais malheureusement B@P n'a pas pu renouer avec celui-ci et il ne lui reste que le rang 21. TC montre une fois de plus que le javelot n'est pas leur tasse de thé et la place 22 en est le résultat. Russia (#23) est arrivée derrière en laissant OCN (#24) et B^S (#25) sur le bas-côté.

BOINCstats est classée 26e, suivie par Chinese Dream (#27) et PiGyS (#28). Tandis que 2ch a totalement fait l'impasse sur le Lancer de javelot, UBT nous pose une colle: le premier lancer était bon, il aurait pu suffire pour la 25e place, mais ensuite il ne s'est plus rien passé. Dommage.

Classement général
Avec les résultats au Lancer de javelot et le départ du Cross-country, nous avons maintenant un classement général probant qui devrait en surprendre plus d'un. Mais pour l'heure, trois disciplines sont encore en cours.

TAAT mène clairement et pourra certainement confirmer sa victoire de l'an dernier, mais derrière ça swingue. Certes, P3D maintient la deuxième place, mais LTT (#3) a encore du potentiel au Cross-country. Ensuite, il y a déjà un écart assez grand. SG (#4), [H] (#5) et CNT (#6) sont appelées à en faire plus.

Derrière, GPUUG (#7) cherche à décrocher l'or au Cross-country, mais le Sprint et le Javelot ne lui conviennent pas et il sera difficile de grimper davantage dans le classement général. Jusqu'à présent, RKN (#8) avance lentement au Cross-country. Si elle changeait cela, elle pourrait coiffer GPUUG au poteau, tout en gardant l'AF (#9) sous contrôle.

En revanche, SUSA (#11) devra faire un très gros effort pour continuer à progresser. Et pour cela, elle devra surveiller TC (#12) et l'Ukraine (#10) qui réservent toujours des surprises. Ce sont justement les Ukrainiens qui ont fait un petit sprint intermédiaire au cours des dernières heures.

MK ont conquis la 13e place, de justesse devant OCN. Normalement, on peut toujours compter sur les experts du refroidissement, mais ils sont en train de se planter au Cross-country. Malheureusement, le passé nous a montré que cela n'était pas inhabituel sur ce genre de piste. Mais il semblerait qu'ils y aient travaillé. BOINC.Italy (#15) a profité de la dégringolade rapide de EVGA (#16) de ces dernières heures. Et AMD Users (#17) en profite pour attaquer aussi.

Un bon départ au Cross-country propulse TSBT au rang 18 du classement général actuel, à un cheveu devant LITOMYSL (#19). Les Rêveurs de Crystal Dream et ceux de Chinese Dream se battent actuellement pour la place 21. Par contre, Chinese Dream profite d'un super-départ au Cross-country. Reste à voir si elle arrivera à se maintenir. C'est une opportunité pour B@P (#20), dont elle a profité pour doubler ce duo. Ainsi, les Polonais ont également réussi à se détacher du trio formé par TFFE (#23), Russia (#24) et BC (#25).

Derrière, les équipes se battent aussi pour les places. Actuellement, 2ch (#26) a la meilleure position de départ, suivie par UBT (#27), B^S (#28) et BOINCstats (#29). Pour PiGyS, il s'agit de déguster des pizzas, des gyros et des escalopes sous la lanterne rouge.

Même si le brouillard de l'incertitude s'est un peu levé aujourd'hui, il reste de nombreuses questions:

• LTT décrochera-t-elle l'argent au Sprint?
• TAAT pourra-t-elle encore intercepter les GPU Users au Cross-country?
• P3D décrochera-t-elle réellement l'or à la Course d'obstacles?

Tag 10 – 14.05.2023 – Es glänzt etwas in der Sonne – Part 2

Heute und morgen müssen die wackeren Teams in drei Disziplinen gleichzeitig ran. Das heißt aber auch, dass wir wieder eine Entscheidung hatten. Das Speerwerfen ist entschieden und damit haben wir auch eine aussagefähige Gesamtwertung. Und das wird einige Teams aufgeweckt haben. Grund genug, heute diese beiden Wertungen unter die Lupe zu nehmen. Gleichzeitig geht es auf die Querfeldein-Strecke, wo ich morgen genauer hinschaue.

Speerwerfen (SRBase: alle Subprojekte außer TF)
Der Sieg geht wieder an TAAT, die am letzten Tag schnell alles klargemacht haben. SG ist mit Silber belohnt worden und bejubelt die beste Einzelplatzierung seit 2020. P3D machte mit dem letzten Wurf das Nötigste, um Bronze einzusammeln. Vielleicht wäre mehr drin gewesen, wenn der erste Versuch etwas beherzter gewesen wäre. Herzlichen Glückwunsch an die Treppchenbesteiger.

Mit Edelmetall wurde RKN (#4) zwar nicht belohnt, die beste Einzelplatzierung seit 2019 sollte aber auch ein Grund zum Feiern sein. Am Ende ging den Rechenkraftlern einfach die Kraft aus. Immerhin konnten sie CNT (#5) hinter sich halten, denen am Ende nicht viel auf die Deutschen fehlte.

Wirklich nur das Allernötigste tat [H], um #6 einzustreichen. Das hätte aber auch gehörig schiefgehen können, denn die Ukraine (#7) war nur einen Hauch weit entfernt. Den Ukrainern scheint der Speer zu liegen, denn auch im letzten Jahr glänzte man hier.

LTT (#8) brauchte am letzten Tag nichts mehr tun, da AF (#9) und LITOMYSL (#10) keine Chance mehr hatten, sie zu erreichen. MK hätten zwar theoretische Chance gehabt, da noch reinzuwerfen, doch dafür reichte die Kraft wohl nicht mehr und so bleibt #11.

BOINC.Italy konnte den letzten Versuch auslassen und trotzdem #12 einfahren, da SUSA (#13) in den Versuchen zuvor nicht gut genug warf. Dahinter profitiert EVGA davon, dass die AMD Users (#15) den letzten Wurf nicht umgesetzt haben. Auch hier zeigten sich wohl erste Verschleißerscheinungen.

Crystal Dream (#16), TFFE (#17) und BC (#18) finden wir auf den folgenden Plätzen. Dahinter hat sich erwartungsgemäß GPUUG herangeschoben und doch wird man dort nicht zufrieden sein. Der letzte Wurf war nicht ganz optimal und so bleibt #19, obwohl #16 möglich gewesen wäre. Das trifft übrigens auch auf TSBT (#20) zu. Die Schotten haben recht gleichmäßig geworfen und so ihre Kräfte wohl nicht optimal eingesetzt.

Ein mega erster Wurf ließ Großes erhoffen, doch leider konnte B@P später daran nicht anknüpfen und so bleibt nur #21. Dass ihnen der Speer nicht liegt, zeigt TC auch in diesem Jahr und so ist #22 das Ergebnis. Dahinter hat Russia #23 eingefahren, die OCN (#24) und B^S (#25) hinter sich gelassen haben.

Auf #26 geht BOINCstats durchs Ziel, gefolgt von Chinese Dream (#27) und PiGyS (#28). Während 2ch den Speer ganz weggelassen hat, gibt UBT Rätsel auf. Der erste Wurf war in Ordnung und hätte für #25 reichen können, doch dann passierte nichts mehr. Schade.

Gesamtwertung
Mit der Entscheidung beim Speer und dem Start des Querfeldein haben wir nun ein aussagefähiges Bild im Gesamtklassement. Dieses dürfte einige überraschen. Aber noch laufen ja drei Disziplinen.

TAAT führt deutlich und wird seinen Vorjahressieg wohl bestätigen können, doch dahinter ist noch Musike drin. P3D hält zwar den Silberrang, aber LTT (#3) hat beim Querfeldein noch Potenzial. Dahinter klafft schon eine recht große Lücke. SG (#4), [H] (#5) und CNT (#6) sind gefordert, mehr zu tun.

Dahinter greift GPUUG (#7) zwar nach Gold beim Querfeldein, doch Sprint und Speer liegen ihnen nicht und so wird es schwierig, in der Gesamtwertung weiter nach oben zu klettern. Bisher ist RKN (#8) beim Querfeldein langsam unterwegs. Wenn sie das ändern würden, wäre es noch möglich, GPUUG abzufangen und gleichzeitig AF (#9) unter Kontrolle zu halten.

Für SUSA (#11) bedarf es dagegen schon einer sehr großen Kraftanstrengung, um weiter nach vorne zu kommen. Dazu muss man aber auf TC (#12) und die Ukraine (#10) achten, die immer für Überraschungen gut sind. Gerade die Ukrainer haben in den letzten Stunden einen kleinen Zwischenspurt hingelegt.

MK haben #13 erkämpft, knapp vor OCN. Eigentlich muss man immer mit den Kühlungsexperten rechnen, doch beim Querfeldein patzen sie derzeit arg. Leider zeigt die Vergangenheit, dass dies bei dieser Art Strecke nicht ungewöhnlich ist. Doch aktuell scheint es, als hätten sie daran gearbeitet. BOINC.Italy auf #15 hat profitiert vom schnellen Fall von EVGA (#16) in den letzten Stunden. Und nun greifen auch noch die AMD Users (#17) an.

Ein guter Start beim Querfeldein bringt TSBT auf #18 der aktuellen Gesamtwertung, nur knapp vor LITOMYSL (#19). Zwischen den Träumern von Crystal Dream und Chinese Dream geht es derzeit um #21. Allerdings profitieren Chinese Dream derzeit von einem super Start beim Querfeldein. Es bleibt abzuwarten, ob sie das halten können. Dies wäre wiederum ist eine Chance für B@P (#20), die sie auch genutzt haben, um an diesem Duo vorbeizugehen. Damit konnten sich die Polen auch vom Trio um TFFE (#23), Russia (#24) und BC (#25) lösen.

Auch dahinter gibt es einen Wettbewerb um die Plätze. Derzeit hat 2ch (#26) die beste Ausgangsposition, gefolgt von UBT (#27), B^S (#28) und BOINCstats (#29). Für PiGyS gilt es, unter der roten Laterne Pizza, Gyros und Schnitzel zu verspeisen.

Auch wenn sich der Nebel der Unklarheit heute etwas gelichtet hat, bleibt doch noch vieles offen:

• Holt sich LTT Silber beim Sprint?
• Kann TAAT die GPU Users beim Querfeldein noch abfangen?
• Holt P3D beim Hindernis wirklich Gold?

Ihr seht, es bleibt spannend beim BOINC Pentathlon.
