Final Report – 19 May 2023 – Something Shines in the Sun – Parts 4&5

It is finished. The 14th BOINC Pentathlon is in the books, with some surprises and twists. 30 teams took up the challenge and gambled, fought, and feared. There were celebrations, tears were shed, technology was tortured, and relationships were strained. But it was worth it. Now it is time to celebrate the winners, as usual in two chapters. The first chapter covers the disciplines, and the second chapter about the overall standings will follow in a bit.

Cross Country (Einstein@Home)
Victory goes to TAAT, who left nothing to chance in the final hours. GPUUG wins an excellent silver medal that shines particularly beautiful in the sun for the pentathlon rookies. P3D cross the finish line in third place. Congratulations!

[H] let nothing in their way either and secured #4 ahead of LTT (#5) and SG (#6). The Germans managed to jump ahead of CNT (#7), RKN (#8), and TC (#9) in the final spurt and thus avoided their worst result ever. Behind them, Ukraine finished in #10, as expected.

AF (#11) followed and had SUSA (#12) in tow. The Americans were able to leave OCN (#14) behind, but had to witness how MK rushed in like the desert wind. This won the cooling experts #13, leaving not only OCN, but also EVGA (#15), B@P (#16), BOINC.Italy (#17), and LITOMYSL (#18) behind.

Chinese Dream secured #19 so that TSBT (#20) could not come close. AMD Users failed to catch the Scots in the end, thus remaining in #21. 2ch is in #22, followed by B^S (#23) who managed to keep BOINCstats (#24) at bay.

Russia finishes in #25 after leaving Crystal Dream (#26) with no chance in the final spurt. TFFE (#27), UBT (#28), BC (#29), and PiGyS (#30) calmly coasted to the end of the competition.

Obstacle Run (yoyo@home: only subprojects ECM, ECM P2)
On the demanding long-distance track, there was not too much movement in the end. P3D win this discipline as they did in 2021. TAAT tried everything to maintain their winning streak, but came up short in the end. They will nevertheless be satisfied with silver. Bronze ultimately goes to LTT, who defended their place comfortably. Congratulations!

SG once again took #4 and und kept [H] (#5) behind. CNT (#6) and GPUUG (#7) followed them with a stable gap. RKN had to give it their all in the end and so they managed to defend #8 and leave SUSA (#9) with no chance. Behind them, AF secured #10.

This also was possible because TC (#11) ran out of fuel in the end. MK (#12) tried to take advantage of that, but the gap was a bit too large. Ukraine retained #13, followed by B@P (#14), who at least succeeded in fending off the attack by BOINC.Italy (#15).

OCN (#16), AMD Users (#17), and EVGA (#18) took no more chances. In the end, EVGA had to be careful not to be caught by UBT. The British surged strongly and clinched #19. This was very important for them, as LITOMYSL (#20) put on a lot of pressure as well. The victim of this dynamical duo were Chinese Dream (#21).

BC (#22) could take it easy, but behind them things were not as calm. BOINCstats snatched #23 on the final day by catching TFFE (#24) and TSBT (#25). They were followed by B^S in #26. PiGyS valiantly defended their hard-won #27 until the end, leaving the Pentathlon veteran 2ch (#28) behind them. Further behind, Russia (#29) did not have the energy to attack anymore, which Crystal Dream (#30) tried but unfortunately failed to take advantage of.

Journée Finale – 19/05/2023 – Quelque chose brille au soleil – 4e et 5e partie

Ça y est, c'est fait. Le 14e BOINC Pentathlon fait partie de l'histoire, avec son nombre de surprises et de revirements. 30 équipes ont relevé le défi, ont parié, se sont battues et ont angoissé. Elles ont fait la fête, versé des larmes, fait souffrir leur matériel et mis leurs relations à rude épreuve. Mais cela en valait la peine. Il est temps de fêter les champions. Comme d'habitude en deux parties: la première partie comporte les résultats individuels et la deuxième partie, le classement général, viendra un peu plus tard.

Cross-Country (Einstein@Home)
La victoire va à TAAT qui a brûlé toutes ses réserves au cours des dernières heures. GPUUG remporte une excellente médaille d'argent qui est particulièrement étincelante au soleil pour cette bleue du Pentathlon. La troisième place revient à P3D. Toutes nos félicitations!

À la fin, [H] semblait aussi avoir le feu au derrière et a sécurisé la 4e place, devant LTT (#5) et SG (#6). Dans un sprint final, les Allemands ont réussi à se placer devant CNT (#7), RKN (#8) et TC (#9) et ainsi à échapper à leur pire classement. Comme prévu, l'Ukraine a passé la ligne d'arrivée à la 10e place.

L'AF (#11) est arrivée ensuite avec SUSA (#12) aux trousses. Les Américains ont pu laisser OCN (#14) derrière eux, mais, à la fin, ils ont vu arriver MK en trombe, tel le vent du désert. Celui-ci a porté les Meisterkuehler au rang 13. Ils ont ainsi laissé, non seulement OCN, mais aussi EVGA (#15), B@P (#16), BOINC.Italy (#17) et LITOMYSL (#18) derrière eux.

Chinese Dream a sécurisé la 19e place, de manière à ce que TSBT (#20) ne puisse plus l'atteindre. Finalement, AMD Users n'a pas réussi à se rapprocher des Écossais et il ne lui reste donc que la place 21. Au rang 22, nous trouvons 2ch, suivie par B^S (#23) qui a réussi à garder BOINCstats (#24) à distance.

La place 25 va à Russia, qui n'a laissé aucune chance à Crystal Dream (#26) lors de son sprint final. TFFE (#27), UBT (#28), BC (#29) et PiGyS (#30) ont tranquillement fini la compétition en roue libre.

Course d'obstacles (yoyo@home: uniquement les sous-projets ECM, ECM P2)
L'exigeante piste longue n'a pas apporté beaucoup de changements à la fin. P3D gagne cette compétition, comme en 2021. À la fin, TAAT a encore une fois tout tenté pour maintenir sa série de victoires, en vain. Elle devrait cependant être satisfaite de la médaille d'argent. La médaille de bronze revient finalement à LTT qui a royalement défendu sa place. Toutes nos félicitations!

Une fois de plus, SG a décroché la 4e place et a gardé [H] (#5) derrière elle. CNT (#6) et GPUUG (#7) sont arrivées derrière à une certaine distance. Vers la fin, RKN a une nouvelle fois dû tout donner. Elle a réussi à défendre la 8e place en ne laissant aucune chance à SUSA (#9). Derrière, l'AF a sécurisé la 10e place.

Elle y est arrivée, parce que TC (#11) a manqué de carburant à la fin, ce que MK (#12) ont tenté de mettre à profit. Mais leur retard était un peu trop grand. Il reste la 13e place pour l'Ukraine, suivie par B@P (#14), qui a réussi à bloquer l'attaque de BOINC.Italy (#15).

OCN (#16), AMD Users (#17) et EVGA (#18) ont brûlé leurs réserves. À la fin, EVGA a dû veiller à ne pas se faire prendre par UBT. Les Britanniques sont arrivés toutes voiles dehors et ont décroché la 19e place. C'était vraiment nécessaire, car LITOMYSL (#20) les mettait sous pression. La victime de ce duo dynamique a été Chinese Dream (#21).

BC (#22) a pu se la couler douce, mais derrière il en était tout autrement. Le dernier jour, BOINCstats a chopé la place 23 et donc doublé TFFE (#24) et TSBT (#25). B^S suit au rang 26. Vaillante jusqu'au bout, PiGyS a défendu sa 27e place durement acquise et a ainsi pu laisser le vétéran du Pentathlon 2ch (#28) derrière elle. Russia (#29) n'avait plus la force pour attaquer, chose que Crystal Dream (#30) a tentée, mais n'a pas réussi à faire.

Abschlussbericht – 19.05.2023 – Es glänzt etwas in der Sonne – Part 4&5

Es ist geschafft. Der 14. BOINC Pentathlon ist Geschichte, mit einigen Überraschungen und Wendungen. 30 Teams haben sich der Herausforderung gestellt und haben gepokert, gekämpft und gebangt. Es wurde gefeiert, Tränen vergossen, Technik gequält und Beziehungen strapaziert. Doch das hat sich gelohnt. Es wird Zeit, die Sieger zu feiern. Wie gewohnt in zwei Teilen. Der erste Teil umfasst die Einzelentscheidungen und der zweite Teil, die Gesamtwertung, kommt etwas danach.

Querfeldein (Einstein@Home)
Der Sieg geht an TAAT, die in den letzten Stunden nichts anbrennen ließen. Für GPUUG springt eine hervorragende Silbermedaille heraus, die für den Pentathlon-Rookie besonders schön in der Sonne glänzt. Auf dem dritten Platz geht P3D durchs Ziel. Herzlichen Glückwunsch.

Auch [H] ließ am Ende nichts anbrennen und sicherte #4 ab, vor LTT (#5) und SG (#6). Die Deutschen haben es im Endspurt geschafft, sich vor CNT (#7), RKN (#8) und TC (#9) zu platzieren und damit der schlechtesten Platzierung zu entgehen. Dahinter ging wie erwartet die Ukraine auf #10 durchs Ziel.

AF (#11) folgte und hatte SUSA auf #12 im Schlepptau. Die Amerikaner haben OCN (#14) hinter sich lassen können, mussten aber am Ende miterleben, wie MK heranbrausten wie der Wüstenwind. Dieser brachte die Meisterkuehler auf #13. Somit ließen sie nicht nur OCN, sondern auch EVGA (#15), B@P (#16), BOINC.Italy (#17) und LITOMYSL (#18) hinter sich.

Chinese Dream sicherte #19 ab, so dass TSBT (#20) nicht mehr herankam. An die Schotten schafften es am Ende die AMD Users nicht und so bleibt ihnen #21. Auf #22 finden wir 2ch, gefolgt von B^S (#23), denen es gelang, BOINCstats (#24) auf Distanz zu halten.

Platz 25 geht an Russia, die im Endspurt Crystal Dream (#26) keine Chance ließen. TFFE (#27), UBT (#28), BC (#29) und PiGyS (#30) ließen den Wettbewerb dann in Ruhe austrudeln.

Hindernislauf (yoyo@home: nur die Subprojekte ECM, ECM P2)
Nicht viele Veränderungen gab es auf der anspruchsvollen Langstrecke am Ende. P3D gewinnt diesen Wettbewerb wie 2021. TAAT versuchte am Ende nochmal alles, um die Siegesserie aufrechtzuerhalten, doch vergeblich. Mit Silber werden sie dennoch zufrieden sein. Bronze ging am Ende an LTT, die souverän den Platz verteidigen konnten. Herzlichen Glückwunsch.

SG holte sich mal wieder #4 und hielt [H] (#5) hinter sich. CNT (#6) und GPUUG (#7) folgten hinterdrein in stabilem Abstand. RKN musste zum Schluss noch einmal alles geben und so gelang es ihnen, #8 zu verteidigen und SUSA (#9) keine Chance zu lassen. Dahinter sicherte AF #10 ab.

Dies gelang auch, weil TC (#11) am Ende der Brennstoff ausging, was MK (#12) auszunutzen versuchten. Doch der Rückstand war am Ende etwas zu groß. Für die Ukraine blieb #13, gefolgt von B@P (#14), denen es immerhin gelang den Angriff von BOINC.Italy (#15) abzuwehren.

OCN (#16), AMD Users (#17) und EVGA (#18) ließen nichts mehr anbrennen. Am Ende musste EVGA aufpassen, nicht noch von UBT geschnappt zu werden. Die Briten stürmten kräftig heran und holten sich #19. Das war auch nötig, denn LITOMYSL (#20) machte auch gehörig Druck. Leidtragender dieses dynamischen Duos war Chinese Dream (#21).

BC (#22) konnte es locker angehen lassen, dahinter aber ging es nicht so ruhig zu. BOINCstats schnappte sich am Schlusstag #23 und damit TFFE (#24) und TSBT (#25). Ihnen folgte B^S auf #26. Tapfer bis zum Schluss verteidigten PiGyS den hart erkämpften #27 und konnten so den Pentathlonveteranen 2ch (#28) hinter sich lassen. Dahinter hatte Russia (#29) nicht mehr die Kraft anzugreifen, was Crystal Dream (#30) zu nutzen versuchte, aber leider nicht erreichte.
